Quadriplegic hunter moved to tears when surprised with gifts from a Secret Santa

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Byron was in a car accident that damaged his spinal cord when he was 16 years old. He has been in a wheelchair ever since but that has never stopped him from doing what he loves.
He is able to hunt and shoot a rifle with a high quad shooting mount using his chin to aim the rifle and his mouth to fire. He has a very supportive group of friends and family that assist him with hunting, shooting and outdoor activities. He has to hunt from the road or areas that are wheelchair accessible due to limited mobility.
A few months ago, Byron was hit by a car in an intersection while crossing the street. He broke some bones, was admitted to the hospital and his wheelchair was damaged.
Everyone who knows Byron loves him and Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves if we could go surprise him with some early Christmas gifts. Check out the video above!

Exactly. A car is transportation for a lot of us but a wheelchair is basically part of their body. They need it to do absolutely everything! the secret Santa is amazing!!!

Seriously, you can see the way his eyes light up from hearing the chair in all terrain and could go hunting.
He knew who you were. He knew why you were there. And you STILL caught him off guard. Thank you Santa!!

As if one car accident wasn’t enough! Poor chap, to literally be struck down twice.
He has made the most of his awful accidents and this wonderful gift will help improve his life.

He seemed so depressed as if the recent accident was a blow he isn’t sure he can recover from. This gift may motivate him and give him renewed hope. It will be interesting to see follow up next year. It has to be so difficult to depend on others for everything. So grateful to secret Santa for giving him a gentle push.
I haven’t cried this year until this video. I well understand what it will mean to this gentleman to be able to go almost anywhere - not just on handicapped accessible paths to hunt. And it’s not just in the area of hunting and outdoor sports that secret Santa has changed this man’s life. What a joy this video was to see. I thought I was safe until he pulled the paper out of the second box, when he teared up so did I. I'm just amazed he said he can still do things like horseback riding, water skiing, and more.
As a fellow San Diegan, I have to agree! I'm so excited because right now the City of Coronado is working to replace their own all terrain power wheelchair available for public use at the lifeguard tower. Hopefully it will be available by Christmas. Can't wait to get back out and explore the seaside with my family and friends. Independence is such a priceless gift!
What a beautiful gift with that all-terrain wheelchair. I do not even think that his litte heart dreamed that far.

This poor guy, but at least he seems to keep his spirits up! So glad SS is able to help him out so tremendously... that will definitely let him get around a lot more easily and do what he enjoys!

Yes it will be. There are so many that could use one but when the starting price for the cheap ones is $10k and $40k for a very nice one that you can drive seating in your wheelchair. They are out of most people price range and insurance will not even think about helping. I done a lot of looking at these tracked wheelchair over the passed years. So glad that he is getting one.
What a supportive group around this deserving man. It also speaks volumes that they see the possiblities instead of hindrances with his current situation. Yes im in a wheelchair now, so what im still gonna do what i love with some adjustments.
You could tell those emotions were running high when he saw that certificate. Yes he was very appreciative of the gift cards, but then to see this gift of a new chair. Oh my word. SS you did another amazing job here.

As someone in a power wheelchair who was recently nearly hit in a crosswalk, crossing with the light--I can only say he's endured one of my worst nightmares. I'm so grateful he survived. I'm also so grateful he's going to have the all terrain wheelchair, it will be a game changer in Idaho!
I'm so happy for him!! I lived in Rexburg for 2 years before I was in a chair and cannot even imagine navigating the ice and slush in a chair.
He may prefer to use it anytime he leaves the house. It will allow him to leave the house safely when it's frozen and slushy. He'll also have such an easier time navigating lose gravel, pot holes and muddy areas. Thank you Secret Santa for giving him the priceless gift of independence!!

quadriplegic and this really touched me. All they ever want is to be treated with respect and understanding. Life is made much better with the all the new technology to make it easier for
them to live as Normal as possible.

He goes hunting and as with going fishing it doesn't necessarily mean bringing anything home.. it's more about getting out, enjoying life and nature.. Let the man find happiness.. if he can put something in his freezer using the setup he has you should be happy for him seeing how hard it was for him to even open his gifts whether you agree with his lifestyle or not... I'm sure he would be happy for someone given a similar gift that allowed them to garden again if that was what made their life better...

I came across these secret Santa vids the last yr of December and I watched every single vid they have. The feeling of joy and relief I received from just watching is wow. It is so nice (peaceful) that there are still people who want to share their blessings with people who are in need and I respect those people who are humble to accept the fact that they need help ( I've seen people whose egos are as big as their who knows and really don't want to ask for help.. saving their pride).
Pay it forward, doesn't need to be big as long as it comes from your heart.
I was in grade school and my teacher asked us to donate some of our toys and my teacher said donate your one toy but not the toy that you don't like anymore or that is old instead donate your toy has more love in it. We were like how can we know? My teacher said if it hurts giving out that particular toy then that's the one. It means it is precious to you and you want somebody to receive that love and care you gave for that toy.

I have a good friend who was hurt in a snowmobile accident and is now paralyzed from chest down. He is also an avid hunter and sportsman. This story hit home and made me want to go to my friend Dannys house just to help a little. Wish I could do something like this for him, but sometimes a hug and conversation can be a great substitute. Lets remember how crazy and quick life can be and change. Nice job....
