Paralyzed man breaks down when a Secret Santa gives him and his dog, Buddy, a special surprise

- The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift $500,000 this holiday season! Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and wants to help as many people as he can.
We will be surprising deserving people and families every day from now until Christmas with gifts unique to their circumstances.
Dale Gneiting is a long-time welder who broke his back and became paralyzed from the waist down on Feb. 3, 1994 in a workplace accident. Over the years, having to learn to live with his paraplegia as a single man has brought many trials and tribulations.
In 2006, his daughter decided he needed a companion and brought him his greatest gift - a dog named Sprout. Sprout and Dale became fast friends and were inseparable from that day forward. Sadly, Sprout passed away at the beginning of last year leaving Dale lonely and heartbroken.
In Dec. 2018, Dale decided to adopt another companion dog named Buddy. Buddy is a little more high strung than Sprout and has a difficult time staying inside for long periods of time. Dale is very independent and does all he can with him but would love for Buddy to have his own freedom - especially in the winter when it is difficult for Dale to get around outside.
A fence around Dale's property would be very helpful and allow Buddy the freedom to run around without getting into trouble. Dale also needs an automatic reclining bed that will assist him in getting in and out as it's becoming more difficult with him getting older.
Secret Santa wanted to give Dale and Buddy an early Christmas gift. He asked the East Idaho News elves to pay him and the response was heartwarming. Watch the video above to see what happened!

I have always been of the opinion that animals give us more love, companionship and caring that most people. Animals can always tell if you are a good person and truly love them and respond in kind. The dogs LITERALLY saved this mans life.

I do believe pets extend a human's life, there were times in my life where my dogs became the greatest blessings and saved me from being alone.....

I was depressed, and on the verge of suicide. I decided to go to a Shuffleboard tournament, and see friends I hadn't seen in years. The day I got there, this female pit mix showed up, and no one knew who's it was. The next day I took her to the vet, and she had no chip. That dog stuck on me like glue, for the next 4 days. Including finding me, or following me to my tent the first night. When I woke up in the middle of the night, she was curled up behind my head. None the less, I took her home. And she's been the best thing to happen to me. I had a purpose to live, from that moment on. I now am engaged to be married, and just started a new job, which I needed more than anything. My dog saved my life, and I dread the day I have to put her down. But until then, we're both going to have the best life possible. I hope you all do too

I have taken my dogs around the world with me on various trips, and they always seem to bring out smiles from strangers who meet them.
There has been studies that have proven pets extend life. Dogs typically make people more active and lowers things like blood pressure. Pretty cool stuff.

Dale got his fence and Buddy is free to go outside any time he wants. Buddy also has a new friend to play with. He and a squirrel have become besties! I've never seen anything like it.

I'd help the people and animals all over the world if I were so blessed. We were a homeless disabled 71 female along with my mentally ill daughter age 50. We were gifted by God to receive a voucher for a home and this week have just started to moved into it. We live on my Social security and we are prayerfully waiting on the results for my daughter's disability approval. We are so grateful of our new place to live instead of a beat up old car. It's our Christmas present 2019. And everyone out there: be careful of your close family who are adult exploitationers, con artists and selfish that's almost a narcissist like Trump. They do NOT care what happens to you. We've lost everything and almost our lives. We used to be a big 501(C)(3) non-profit organization - animal rescuers. My Dad was paralyzed this year from a car accident. So now I am familiar with the struggle paralyzed people go through. This is so nice.....made me cry. The secret Santa is an angel in disguise. Merry Christmas.

Oh Melissa, so sorry. My grandfather was paralyzed for many years before his death. I actually took care of him for awhile myself and it's rewarding but not to be taken lightly

I can relate, Dale, more than you could ever know!
My husband of 20 years died last February, and since then I’ve had to stop rescuing, which was the only thing that gave me purpose after I was injured in a near fatal car accident back in 2002, which forced me to stop working in my career that I loved. Since my husband died I’ve also lost several of my kitties and one of my dogs. The *only thing* that keep me going is my other fur babies. When I feel like giving up I take one look at their little faces and I know I couldn’t leave them.

The way his voice shook when he said that he tried to build the fence and couldnt get it done it broke my heart. This man really cares about his pups and treats them well. He wants his dog to be able to go out and have a good time without getting in trouble and it really bugged him that he couldnt get the fence done despite being paralyzed he felt disappointed. What a sweet man.

There are people here who have donated time and some materials but more materials are needed. All lots in our neighborhood are 1/2 acre or more so that's a lot of fence. We all care about Dale. We all loved Sprout and know how heartbroken Dale was when he had Sprout put down. And we all want Buddy to do well.

This made me cry. I’ve been dealing with extreme pain for the last 10 years from 5 brain surgeries I’ve had to remove a brain tumor and it’s ruined my life so this hit close to home, I also have a dog who helps keep my head up. But also realize that when someone is going through one of the worst times in their lives, it's the worst thing they've dealt with. Someone else out there is going through a lot worse but we shouldn't put people down when they are struggle with something that doesn't seem that bad to someone else.
Of course there are people worse off than ourselves, that doesn’t mean what each of us is going through is automatically invalid.
Staying humble whilst acknowledging another persons battle can be done equally, we are all important.

I've been binge watching these Secret Santa videos today and this has to be the one that touches my heart the most. Poor guy.....paralyzed and it's just him and his dog. Although I don't want to see people cry at Christmas, watching this guy break down in tears and say it's the best day of his life was just magical.
He seemed a little rough around the edges at first, but when he heard "fence" and "new bed", that was it for him and me both! God bless 🙏💖

Wow - this is so genuine and life changing. Whoever is the secret Santa and whoever finds these deserving people should be blessed. Making a difference does not necessarily need to mean a large gift, acknowledging someone's circumstances and helping when possible might be the difference for someone in need. I needed to see this to remind myself that truth.

Pets are a lot of the time the only family some have, and usually the better family. They love us unconditionally.
I had a similar accident June 2nd, 2000. I fell and landed on a 2x4 stake in the ground supporting a steel beam. I broke my back in 2 places, shattered all my ribs on the right chest wall into 3 pieces each, punctured the right lung, tore my right shoulder away from the chest wall.
I’ve been thru 13 surgeries now trying to get back where I can just survive. I was blessed that I can still walk but some days you wonder if it really is a blessing because of the amount of pain I endure every day. It’s caused me to lose everything I worked my adult life for and I’m getting close to being homeless now. It brought a rush of tears to my eyes when he opened his gift and I’m so happy for him and I’m so thankful to the person that is behind this and I pray that Lord Jesus will watch over you and your family and protect you. The world needs guardian angels like you to help those that can’t anymore.
I spent 10 years in the military and am a Desert Storm Vet and my wife and I always dreamed of one day helping others like this but now we are wearing the other shoe and are the ones that need the help some days.

@@jherinstamps6874 hey buddy, it’s been a struggle this year but then it’s been a struggle for all of us this year hasn’t it. Who knows what’s gonna happen tomorrow.
I just take it a day at a time anymore and live by prayer. Don’t know if I’m gonna have anywhere to live at the end of the year but just keep praying for something to happen and well, if I do end up homeless, then I’ll just cross that bridge when I get to it. It sure won’t do any good to worry about it today for sure and will just drive my blood pressure higher and it really can’t take going too much higher, lol.
But so far, I keep waking up every morning so I take that as a good thing and I try and do as much good with the day as I can cause I just never know if I’ll wake up tomorrow.

500,000. We have so many million and billionaires in the world that donate to their own "charity" for tax loophole reasons instead of helping people like this. A "mere" 500,000 can change the lives of so many people. Imagine what could happen if all these million and billionaires actually put that money into real use.
There are plenty if people that are not millionaires that donate too. Even paying someone's groceries can make a difference.

Most donations in the U.S. come from private citizens and volunteers. It matters not what the holdings might be of 1% ...or even the whys. In matters of the heart, it’s to do the next right thing, some are blessed with bigger 💕 hearts, some struggle with it. We support each other..every day. We only need look 👀 to help another. We are all a team of humans. And even of earth 🌏 itself. Just my thought.
