This man did exactly what we needed him to do. Not too long and too fast but straight to the point. Thank you!
Thank you for a clear and complete explanation.
Well....those 'other guys' sure avoided in their 'brilliant' ( NOT) instructions, just HOW to get the broken 1 off the wall or tile, which is the hard part, requiring power tools and elbow grease....
You saved the day ! Thank you!
Your the man Bill. Just successfully replaced my soap dish holder following this video. I was scared of this job but used same techniques and grout - easy bro!
Nice one buddy! 4 years old and still super useful, needed it today to replace a soap holder! 😂
You’re welcome 👍
Awesome Billshowto Thank You no BS just great practical advise
Thanks so much. Your demonstration is very helpful.
Good job guy, thanks it helped me. Ya I finished my job.
Thanks Bill, watching your videos makes me want to do things myself.
👍
God you made that look so easy!😂
Thank you! Most helpful. I didn’t have a float, but had success using my latex gloved fingers (I also wrapped a cork sanding block in a glove, but using my hands worked better).
Cool Bill, Thanks for the great info.
Thank you so much for the info. Very straight forward advice and easy to understand - thanks!
You’re very welcome 👍
Nice work and advice. To anyone thinking of changing theirs: please measure the old one and find a replacement before you remove it. Sometimes it needs to be special ordered. That can take a couple of weeks. The one in stock was larger than the old one. I met two diy’ers who did that. One taped the wall with a plastic sheet. The other learned how to cut tile and bought a few other items.
How many hours needs to dry out so we can take a shower?
Thank you so much you saved my life
thank you for the video ours just broke like this ( bumped it with my elbow ) its my parents in laws so im happy to see a video that will save me some trouble lol
Thank you so much, I was a little intimidated to try this but you describe this clearly and I think I can do it! Thanks again.
You got this 👍
@@billshowto I did it!
THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO BILL.
You’re welcome 👍

The man! Great video brother

Thanks a lot mate.
Awesome! Thank you
Thanks mate. My kid tried to hang off it and exactly what I needed!
Bro, thank you.
Thanks 👏👏
Thanks Bill
Thanks! Mine is recessed so how would I fix the wall behind it so I can just replace it with a regular tile?
Good 💯👌👍👍🌹❤️
HI there - thanks for the vid; my question is this: is the process any different for replacing one of those ceramic towel rail end pieces? That's my next job...!
I just glued mine back together selleys it works but very good clip no bullshit Bill
Thanks!
👍
never changed one,but i had to change a tile once and removed the grout i think at the time with a hacksaw blade ,all i had ,kills the fingers the grout remover looks like a great investment
I can only imagine how hard that would have been, tools have come a long way 👍
Legend
Awesome work man !! How long does that product take to fully dry ?
I have the same product right now the davco one
Thanks Bill - do you happen to have the link to where you bought the lovely replacement soap dish tile?
This was purchased from my local hardware store ( bunnings )
Thx RUclips for recommending me this beautiful video, I am now much smarter than before, even smarter then Albert Einstein
Is there place I could rent the needed tools from? I don’t own any power tools and have zero experience
does this damage the waterproofing? do you have to worry about water seeping in behind the wall?
Yes!
I was curious about this also. I imagine if Daveco is waterproof then answer is no
My is empty in the back it’s just a hole?
How much would it normally cost roughly for a job like this?
I don't have that machine. My handyman friend who works at bunnings told me to use tools like a phillips head screwdriver . I have come acrossed some stubborn grout and I am finding it hard to finish the rest. Any tips on what I can do?
A Flat head screw driver not Phillips works on softer grout. You can also purchase a manual grout removal tool from bunnings for a few dollars 👍
@@billshowto I've been using both flat and Phillips
@@billshowto its like in the last parts its much harder to remove and not soft where water can get to it and other elements like grime etc. Underneath was the easiest once it got going, I think it was softer because water doesn't get under there to calcify? As hard if thats the right way to describe it.. its my first attempt. I am definitely an amateur at best. Its an old housing sa home too. Trying to do the right thing as it was done accidentally by me like 10 yrs ago and im just trying to fix it and make it right my wrong for my housemate who rents it. Before I move into my own house
@@billshowto thankyou for the tip. I won't be going to bunnings to do get it as its almost there..
Do you have a link where you got that davco
Bunnings has it
Any tips on how to remove the tile if you don't own a multi tool?
Flat head screw driver to remove the grout. Chisel and hammer to remove the tile 👍
@@billshowto do you think it will damage the surrounding tiles?
Im scared lol
Im in a rental and my son broke the dish and I dont want to tell the estate and end up getting kicked out so I want to try to fix it myself
Is it possible to to remove the soap dish without removing the tile piece?
Idiot
@@elizakallis6148 Why is he an idiot? Some soap dishes are not one piece with the tile but are simply grouted to the wall tile. By removing the grout cementing it on you don't have a glaring hole with no possibility of ever finding a match for the decades old to tile you cut out.
Where did you buy that soap dish? What's the brand?
Available from Bunnings, $22.40
The day these things completely go away will be the day I am truly happy. Completely silly waste of space.
who still uses regular soap...
Omg I’m extremely annoyed to find out it’s not just removable off the tile and IS a tile itself…..
Looks a bit wonky, like the right-hand side is a bit low.
Yes, he could have applied the adhesive/grout 2 in 1 product to the back of the soap holder and then using thin tile spacers underneath the new holder sitting inbetween the bottom tile and the holder. This would have provided an even level to the holder. once the grout had semi-set and could hold the weight of the holder then you can remove the tile spacers from below and use the rubber float trowel to apply the final grout/adhesive around the sides of the holder. Finish with a light sponging and a wipe and you've got a level holder.
