Thank you for posting, it was really helpful to us with my friends 2010 work truck f150. He had problems with stock stereo not playing very well (extremely low volume) and the new jvc single din radio fixed the issue!
Your video has helped me to get all the parts I needed to upgrade my radio, I have a 2010 f150 without any options so I’ve always wanted Bluetooth now I have a chance to get it.
Why do I need this expensive fancy module wire harness? Why can’t I just use a $10 wire harness without the module? What does it do? Please explain. Thanks
Because in this generation F150, ford has migrated over a canbus system, where accessory, illumination, and many other factory features are now controlled over data, not the older style analog system. Sure, you could use the 10 dollar harness, but then you will have to chase down your ignition wire, illumination, steering wheel control wiring, etc somewhere else in the vehicle because you used the wrong harness.
Had a shop to do this install using a Pioneer AVH-2440NEX using METRA products. The Ford display shows SYNC on LFT side & Temp RT side . .How do you get the compass & F150 BUILT FORD TOUGH to show up ? Also the sync module was unplugged . THX Wayne .
We have a 2010 f150 xl. It also does not have steering wheel controls. We also want to install a mic either Bluetooth or hard wired. Do you have a video on that or any tips? We will also be adding an amp and subs later. I’m worried our Crutchfield kit won’t have the little amp wire that you made available. Sorry, It’s been over three decades since I fooled with car audio.
I installed a alpine restyle in my 2011 and my screen above the radio that has compass and outside air temp is blank. Everything works except that dam screen. How did you do it?
I am having the same problem currently I’m using a kenwood and the only way for me to get power is to connect yellow wire and red I am using the crux harness it’s has constant power to screen after truck loses power
@@jaygonzales1023 I believe you have to piggyback off a fuse for accessory power. There some sort of fuse thing they sell on Amazon that will allow you to "splice" a wire to the radio. I can't remember what it's called. You have to toy around with the fuse box to see which fuses are active when you turn the key to accessory power and which turn off on accessory power.
Got my radio installed in my 2010 F-150. Then realized the right side buttons on my steering wheel that control the volume and CarPlay buttons don’t work. Are you about to tell me what connection I might be missing or what I may need to get to fix this.
What is the smaller plug for? I have a 2011 F250 with the same wiring plugs/harness. I purchased a harness but it didn't come with the harness for the smaller plug and I am not sure how to wire it up. Also, what is the "smart harness" and how is that wired in? I also don't have steering wheel controls.
I have a silly question: My 2012 F150 XL has the factory radio, which is *just* a radio, with no CD or Aux input. The radio looks to be a double-din unit, and the bezel already has the opening in it like the one in the beginning of this video. Does anyone know if that bezel will fit an aftermarket radio, or do I still need to replace it?
It has to little clips on the back . Push them in and slide it out through the front of the face plate . Slide it out as if you were looking at it from the front should come out with a little push
@@ProvoBeastAudio like the video but my F-150 came with a backup camera stock from Ford I do not know if The back-up camera was integrated on the stereo or on the rear view mirror I don't know where the wire runs too
Couldn’t get the radio to work, rechecked an triple check fuses wires, put the old radio an it worked fine, I said okay I know have power, put the boss in and nothing it doesn’t even lite up but the lites come on in the connector box it flashes blue for a couple seconds. Totally lost really don’t want the hassle of sending it back but I may not have a choice. Help!!!
Recently bought a Pioneer Avh-120bt for my 2010 f150 with steering wheel controls, what would I need to retain my steering wheel control? And also to keep my radio playing after I take the key out the ignition?
I highly doubt I'll get a reply this video is so old but my question is. My f150 has sirius xm in the factory stereo... Do I need to buy the xm antenna module thing or no?
Nice job on the video. You have given me the confidence to replace my failing radio, but I would like to ask your opinion on the best replacement unit for my 2009 F150 Lariat with steering wheel controls and Sirius radio. I would like to have a backup camera as well as Apple and Android Car Play compatibility. I am currently looking at the following: Either an Alpine ILX-W650 with Sirius SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit and Axxess ASWC-1 as well as the Scosche FD1438B / FD1438 OR a Alpine iLX-407 with Sirius SiriusXM SXV300V1 but I am not sure if this one can accommodate the steering wheel controls and uses the same Axxess ASWC-1 harness. Any input or alternative suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you in advance.
Most aftermarket radios, especially brand name units, will easily accommodate the ASWC-1. W650 is a solid unit. We have linked all parts we used in the description along with the link to the backup camera video.
If you have no steering wheel controls you should be fine . But if you have controls on your steering wheel then you need that for them to work . With out it the radio will work but the steering wheel controls won’t
I think there is something else you have to buy for steering wheel controls but not positive, I've been looking into it also, will post if I find out more
Need help.have 2014 xlt with no screen, no camera and thats what I want so what do I need for a good unit and have a camera (factory) , GPS etc. What unit should I get and cost of and what kit for camera? Thanks for any help.
Did y’all ever figure it out I’m having the same problem rn I got my power wire going to my constant so my radio is always getting power and makes my battery go dead
I hooked it up to fuse 41 in a customers 2010 f150 work truck and works like factory. He bought the $10 dollar install harness instead of the one that the Provo audio guy used.
How can I get this radio and kit from you guys? I have a Ford F-150 2010, no backup camera and no steering wheel controls, but I want the Bluetooth feature so I can listen to my phone. Drop me phone number
Parts linked in the description!
And always have a couple of screws left over and don't know where they go LOL 😂 just kidding brother great video..
it says those harness dont work with sync

Do you have to do anything special for the factory clock and compass to continue working?
Does the original radio display screen stay stuck on Built Ford Tough forever?
Crutchfield says that when installing the factory display will read “DVD”. This one says Built Ford on it. How can I have that?
What is the pad above the Hazard button and below the integrated screen called? The one covering the top two screws on the panel?

I connected the red wire to fuse 41 in my friends 2010 work truck f150. he also used the $10 dollar harness and it works like factory.
Need to show one with steering wheel adaptor
That part is linked in the description of the video, comes pre-programmed as well.

You didn’t talk about the ignition wire to power the unit, I didn’t see it in the kit.
Because the smart harness provides it for you, no need to run any manual wiring to the fuse box.
What does it mean if my radio won't turn on unless my red and yellow wires are touching?

On a 2014 F150 does the power have to be tapped in from the fuse box, outside of the harness
There’s an ignition wire in another connector. I just don’t know which one
No one ever tells you have to tap in another plug and I don't know which one it is
Did y’all ever figure it out I’m having the same problem rn I got my power wire going to my constant so my radio is always getting power and makes my battery go dead
You have to use a fuse tap and tap into the passenger fuse box #37 for the red ignition power wire
