Very helpful information we were suck on why the ignition wasn’t turning it on and then in the wiring section it really went into throughout detail on how to solve the issue we were stuck on thank you so much this video even though it was 30 minutes long saved me hours of troubleshooting thank you thank you thank you
Hey man, the steering wheel controls can be used if you connect the "KEY 1 " cable from the radio to pin 18 on the wiring harness, no adapters are needed just that one cable,
Thanks man - I've never been that handy with automotive stuff but recently I bought a travel trailer and have been doing all kinds of upgrades myself to my 2010 F-150 lariat. I installed this same android unit in my truck with a few variations but found your video helpful. Also I got a different wiring harness than you did which mapped up much better.
Does this unit have climate controls? Im looking at one for a 2011 lariat but i have the sync 1 in it with the touchscreen and navi. I think some of the climate controls can only be controlled on screen
@@samiswitchlanes9751 - I don't see anything related to climate controls in mine, but my 2010 lariat just had the radio / cd changer with the dual climate controls as external knobs
@@cpyt-o8s I have the knobs too but I dont think there's buttons to change from defrost to blower to foot blower or whatever it's called. Thats the only thing im concerned about
@@desmeonharrison1353 its been a while so I dont recall if it was actually this one, cause I may have picked one up at autozone - but in my amazon history I have: RED WOLF Radio Wiring w/Antenna Adapter RCA Input Replacement for Ford 2006-2012, Lincoln 2006-2010, Mercury 2006-2009 Aftermarket Stereo Install Wire Cable Harness with RCA Adapter Plug
I got the same unit as yours, it was plug and play but the only issue is that, I can't connect Android Auto at all. The app just keeps searching forever.. I'm so frustrated. Your video is great! Thanks
Not sure if you are still going to receive notifications on this video or not but thank you for the information! Very thorough. Question- I installed mine and everything functions correctly, except my radio will not turn off when the ignition turns off. Any idea how to correct this issue?
Thanks for this. I just got a generation 12, F150 Supercab, retired wildlife warden truck. No Frills. Cruise control in the wheel, that's it. It's an XL with the factory towing package, those awesome towing mirrors with electric lens adjustment and manual collapse, factory lift, rear locker, 4x4, 5.0, manual shift option (really good offroad) and goofy electrical. When it was decommissioned the company doing the auction cut all the wires related to the police lights. Just cut them and sealed the holes with RTV. Though I have a factory and after-market set of interior dome lights, none work. It has a powerful spot light in the center of the roof but it is not powered. All the charging stations remain on with the ignition off. The radio continues to play for 15mins with the ignition off (not sure if this is just a feature) It has the base radio, two fields of FM and one AM but no cd player. It's primitive. I replaced the headlamps as the thing could be seen by oncoming cars but I could see nothing --- 11 year-old truck. I could tell the lamps were way old. All the gaskets on the fittings were useless as they were rotted. I'm replacing the fittings as I can find what to get. The small lamp fittings are hard to find... Your instructional is very complete. Great work one-handed. One of the things I liked is -- after having gone through h**l getting the front headlight housings out, I am very appreciative of how you showed the full content of the rear lights. This truck has launched a lot of boats. I am sure it sat at the edge of the boat ramp through tides. There is crystalized salt trapped at the base of the right rear set and when I first got it, mud dobber structures that filled a 5gal bucket throughout. Without not having to pull the rear lights, you showed what fittings I need for the larger light and what to look for for the back-up bulb. I will be adding additional back-up beams as I live in the sticks and this thing is too bulky to assume anything around here in reverse. PEACE!
I bought this same system but it came with all the wires, I didn’t have to set them up myself, I plugged everything in and nothing works. Would you be able to help me?🙏
my radio came already attached to the face plate. basically not all are going to come with the same things. Mine doesn't have an install guide, only a user guide.
is that android head unit still working? I have purchased other non name brand chinese electronics on amazon and they tend to stop working after a year or so.
Do you know what wires do need the amp turn on. i have the same truck with the sony amp and sub and I'm trying to put in a new radio and I have power but no sound. i think its because I don't have the amp turning on but Im not sure what i need to connect into to get the amp and sub to work. i have most the same harnesses and some other audio in and outs sent with the kit.
Just Bought an Ankeway WiFi, GPS, 60 Watts X 4, Bluetooth, from Amazon, and says fits 2013 E250. Like yours, too large. Dont want to cut up Dash, can't mount behind as it covers side controls, it will work if I cut off those little side mounting nubs, then Black Silicone, maybe a Little 3M 5200 in black in the back, rest in silicone so I can put Original back in for whatever reason. I have been installing for Decades. You do Cover Things for Newbies in one video. Was also sold the Metra Install Kit, Too Small, won't work, maybe the sides will work. Didn't expect to have to Damage the Dash or Radio. Will cut the mount pieces off and save the Dash.
Nice video man, got same truck, same stereo and same issue but I replaced my speakers and added a 4 channel amp for them but I found out that my stereo does not have four channels I add some "Y" connectors but I still think a need some kind of equalizer or something it does not sound at loud as I thought
I Just buy the universal steering wheel controls from Amazon and i install on the same radio and the illumination doesnt work but for the rest works great is more easy for the volume control and change the songs its a great and cheap upgrade!

Did yours power on ? I can’t any power out mines was told I prolly need a different harness but the seller never emailed me back
Yes it does, and works. But I do get static in a couple of station, that I don't have in other vehicles
Hey it’s Sunny and Warm!
Yep, you see, the weather in the country is so much better
Car you installed come with sony amp system or not
Will the ignition wire interfere with the hazard light function
You didn't need a canbus decoder for your radio
How do you get the steering wheel controls to work?
did your time and date change when you turn the key off /on
