On my new bike I have presta valve .. before this video I didn’t even know that it was called presta .. let alone how to inflate them 😂 this video saved my day.
I can tell that you're a little uncomfortable making videos but I want to be one of the many people on here to thank you for making the video because I just did what I needed to do to my bike because of your video so don't be uncomfortable we need your help it's awesome thank you
Thank you sooo much for this video. I could not, for the life of me, figure out why I couldn't pump up the tires on a bike I just bought. Great explanation.
This is super helpful thank you! I only ever had shrader before and I was so baffled. Your video is really clear and now I'm confident I wont screw up my tyres somehow.
Thank you for this video. I got my bike tuned last year, and just realized that I dto not have the standard (sharader) valve. I was so mad because I didn't know why the little thing at the end needed to be altered to keep the air in the tires. I am glad this video popped up when I searched, because I was about to have a fit. I will try what I have learned tomorrow and I hope that it works. my bike is my only source of transportation. I am not sure, but it could be the nut that keeps the valve on the rim, I noticed it was loose, so I tightened it, but it kept turning. I wish the bike mechanic person had explained this to me.
Thx, just savd some money - after my new pump pulled the inner valve out on the presta, it didn't occur to me to shut the valve after using the adapter to avoid this problem, rather than storing adapter on open valve :D
Thank you for this video. I just ordered from your site a Presta adapter and a Topeak pump. I was surprised that your pump price was lower than Amazon's!
Been cycling mtbs for years now.. Fortunately i know what's a presta and shrader now from you. Thanks for sharing knowledge. From leh ladakh jammu and kashmir UT of India 🇮🇳
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but once you have unlocked the valve, you should tap it. The valve tends to stick and you have to break the seal so that you can get air in there.
Thanks. Great explanations. I just bought a new bike and was surprised to discover the new bike has Presta valves. My wife's new bike has the old Shrader valves. We're a mixed marriage. Ha ha. I'll be buying adapters for my new bike to accommodate my tire pump, which is Shrader only.
Note that the Schrader valves are not typically used on standard bikes in several countries in European region and elsewhere. Instead the typical valves are Dunlop and Presta valves. However, Schrader valves are seen on touring and mountain bikes in Europe.
YOU ROCK! easy to follow and understand - glad I found your post Thank you very much - i'm going to ride my bike today now I know how to pump up the tire. :-)
VERY helpful. Thank you! I had no idea there was an adapter that will convert a Presta to a Schrader. YEAH! You did mention, "If you have a compressor at home".... I was looking for the correct adapters to connect my compressor to my Presta.. Perhaps another video?
Hi, You can find the adapter online at hostelshoppe.com/KOOL-STOP-Presta-Vavle-Adapter-32868/ . Simply open your presta valave, screw it on, and inflate! Let us know if you have any more questions. My email is jessie@hostelshoppe.com.
How do you deal with presta tubes with non threaded stems? When you try to attach the pump head with the tube inside the rim there is no nut to hold stem in place.
Hi, I would recommend using a more puncture resistant tire, like the Schwalbe Marathon Plus hostelshoppe.com/products/schwalbe-marathon-plus-tire?_pos=1&_sid=38ce1359d&_ss=r , so that you reduce your puncture incidents. It is also rated for e-bikes. Use in conjunction with a Schwalbe tube.
@@the_real_idoit8166 If it is a flap around the valve stem, it is probably a reinforcement in that area. If it is anywhere else, it is probably defective.
I suggest stopping down at your local bike shop. They can check if the tube is flat, or if there is an issue with the pump. Be sure to bring everything with you.
Dunlop/Woods valve not shown - Most bicycle in India, Pakistan, Japan are a this type and not discussed in your video. In Japan they call them a UK Valve.
Yes, you are correct, but most of the questions we get are about presta vs. schrader here in the U.S., so we were aiming at our target audience here in the states.
I prefer the shrader to presta ,simply because presta valves do not hold the air in tubes for a long time as the shraders do.I simply replaced the presta valve tubes with shrader tubes and didnt have to use a pump again for months. By comparison, with presta , the other bike wheels go flat within a week....Can the adapter be a permanent solution ,since the rims are very thin for a shrader valve?
Hi Mohammed,. Your pump is not going to work. I recommend getting a good bicycle pump, like the Topeak Joe Blow hostelshoppe.com/products/topeak-joeblow-max-hp-floor-pump-black?_pos=10&_sid=230911927&_ss=r . Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Why do they make those other valves??? Where I live you can't get adapters, why complicate a good working thing? I just bought a tube and can't fill it, been filling normal tires for decades never needed adapters.
Hi, Presta valves are a higher quality valve stem. You can get adapters here hostelshoppe.com/collections/tube-tire-maintenance/products/genuine-innovations-presta-valve-adapter so you can pump them up with a regular pump.
@@hostelshoppe can't / cannot get them here (without driving a few hours or spending a fortune in import tax). If they are a superior valve I hope the inferior ones would disappear but most of the world can't do that so easily.
@@CsykKrit Sorry, I was not aware you were overseas. You may want to invest in a pump that works with presta valves. I know it is hard to get a lot of bike parts and accessories right now.
My scott has regina valves and for some reason I don't need to screw them way over the top , I can leave them in the middle otherwise when pumping , all the air seems go out.
I hate the presta valves on my giant bike the threads on top of valve are way to weak and thin and always break off. They never hold air like the old schraders do next time one of my presta valves break i will take both rims of drill them out and fit tubes with schrader valves the prestas are junk !
Not bad on the information, but all that noise from the ringing door bell, and cash register is super annoying try not to be so close to noise that can be picked up on camera. Thanks
Presta valves are junk, had one break loose from the tube itself. I understand the purpose for a very narrow racing rim but they have no place on mountain bikes!
