My daughter's 2013 Equinox had the engine air intake box half full of water. Chevy guys said they don't know how it got there but dried it out added new air filter and recommended cleaning her injectors for $200 extra dollars. Strange that since this p0411 code is a problem they did not mention it. Her car throws this code again a few weeks after the visit. Think it's time for dad to take a look. Very good video and nice way to explain the system in a easy to understand way.
Thank You, PartInfo1 these diagrams & notes made me understand the entire system & why it’s there in the 1st place. good luck, if code-reading brought you here. if you’re DiY because you want to be, then let’s get it
I have a check engine light on my 2000 vw jetta and it was code p0411. I bought a new air pump and put it on and the check engine still came back . I need a smog test too. I bought this used car. What should I do? What can I do? Should I replace the secondary air valve?
I have Toyota Prado 2010 and since 45 days I've been facing a problem with SAP which sound loudly in cold starting like a vacuum cleaner or hairdryer without any sign of engine hesitation or check lamp on. I searched a lot and tried these.. disconnected the outlet hose that connected to SAP while SAP works and noticed that the loud sound was gone and heared the normal sound then reconnected the hose .I waited until my car becomes cold then started it the same sound was back so i disconnected the wire in the top of Check Valve to see if SAP would stop or not but SAP turned off because I took a long time, Chech Engine light got on and i turned off by disconnected the positive battery wire then installed it, after this test the SAP has not worked yet. Does Secondary Air Pump make a loud sound because of a stuck Check Valve?
I have a 2002 Pontiac trans am secondary air system is not ready but I know for a fact the system works but the inc when I scan it how could I reset the light
You might get more help by posting your year make and model and any cel codes. Or just check Google / RUclips. But my guess is yes. Toyota's and probably other manufacturers have a loss of power issue when this system has a problem.
@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel got it taken care of. It went into limp mode. Piece of the secondary air filter broke off and got pumped into the valve set and made em seize up.
Thank you because the dealer doesn't really help people to understand this and when you get code p0411 it's something wrong with this system. Question: I have a 2nd car which is not driven often. It has the dreaded code p0411 with only 32k miles. It's never had any problems but Dealer says, it needs a secondary air pump and valve replacement @ $1,000. How often do those things fail? Do I have to have it repaired? They said it's drivable but we may notice cold starts. Will it hurt the car to not repair it? I'm pretty miffed that a car company puts this system on a car with repair cost of $1,000.
When you turn on the car in the morning you should hear the sound of a vacuum cleaner motor. This is the secondary air pump. It is needed to pump extra air into the air intake system. Sometimes the pump and valve can fail. You could try just replacing the pump, but the valve is also important because it stops condensation/water from entering the pump. If water enters the pump it will fail for sure. The expensive part of this repair is labor. The pump itself is about $370.00. I just replaced the pump and valve and it cost me $871.00 at Turner Motorsports in Amesbury, MA. my car has 121,000 miles.
All that extra cost and complexity for 90s of less emissions during start up? How much emissions was produced for the manufacture of those additional components.... False economy.
Now I have a better understanding how the secondary air system works. Now I can easily work on any Toyota Tundra or Sequoia with this system.
Simple, yet very informative. Thx for documenting this and share with us.

Visual inspect the wire harness look for corrosion
Thank you for the vid, short and simple right to the point!

Great video. Making the system easier to understand
This video was very informative! Hopefully it will help me with my issue.
great video, thanks for posting

Great explanation thanks

Good explanation thanks
I want to know how does the electric switch over work in this system?
How dose water get inside of the secondary air pump
Ok ...what does the electric switch over valve do ?
That is your control. To operate the system.
great audio very clear to follow
You want him to come throw you over his shoulder and burp you too?
Thankyuu
Can this cause a loss of power, and oil pressure to rise with rpm?
I know this is an old video, but I'm trying to figure this out.

All I can think is how come bmw didn’t do this right thing on the engine N62

Trying to fix my LX570, and I hated the fault ...
This seems like it would be fairly easy to do myself. Am I just dreaming?
Kim Richmond easy if you can get to it
