Ron Smith you are correct! It is a piece of US HISTORY downscaled into a model train art. The detail is that of real life past history. This is amazing for a non public museum/exhibit design for home.
This layout belongs in Smithsonian someday. It's authenticity is beyond "modeling" Being set in his basement is ideal but the world needs to see it every day and I hope the Institute makes him an "offer" he can't refuse.

The detail is incredible, and I can't imagine the thousands of hours of work it took to create all this! Kudos to the videographer, who showed us the entire layout continuously. Videos of most other layouts show bits and pieces without ever letting us appreciate the entirety.

Probably one of the best model railroads I've ever seen, Pete's attention to detail is phenomenal, I love model trains, and layouts, I one hope to have a model railroad of my own, hopefully it will be just as nice as his. I remember another video you made explaining that Pete was selling his house and was including his layout in the sale, hope who ever bought the house kept the layout, because it's a work of art. Great video.
My dad did model railroad about 20 yrs ago, ever since this has intrigued me. This layout is by far the most detail oriented layout Ive ever seen. Absolutely astonishing.

Stunningly beautiful. I don't often notice likes and dislikes because, well who really cares? But I did this time to see what the responses were to what is one of the finest layouts in the world. As of this date Mar. 29/20 one hundred and eighty three people have turned thumbs down on this. It probably would be more to the taste of those people if they stayed away from trains and concentrated on football or kick boxing or knitting or makeup.

The best part of this layout isn't the trains. Or the size... Or even the general scenery. The best part is how carefully he's integrate the names of people he cares about into it. No name is out of place and to the casual visitor would go unnoticed unless pointed out. But the layout is littered with them, you can barely look in a direction without passing one. It's very touching and very nicely executed.

This is an awesome acheivement. I am amazed just how well Pete has managed to settle the buildings and structures into the ground. They are part of the world, not stuck on top of it. The passage of the steam loco and train over the metal bridge over the water is the best I have ever seen. Pete Walton - you are an incredible modeller. Well shot Lou!
The geology is fantastic. The rock face and foliage textures are superbly caught in video. I am in Scotland UK so it is a bit far to drop in to experience.

Lou, now THIS is a true REALISTIC model railroad layout and it cannot be compared to that layout of John Muccianti you did where I left my comment that I know people are going to take as an ugly comment but I assure you it was not. I was simply being honest there just as I am here on Pete's layout which is a true REAL looking model railroad. You can't even put that other layout in the same class because there's no comparison my friend. This layout is simply amazing and one of the most realistic layouts I've ever seen and then you look at John Muccianti's toy train set-up and the difference is like day & night. When I think a true, real looking, modeled to prototype cities & railroads layouts, this is what I expect to see and if you're (anyone) talking about a toy train looking layout like one would expect to see under a Christmas tree or a Christmas village, that's where John Muccianti's layout fits in. As I said, there's no comparison and John's layout can't even begin to compare to the class & reality of this layout of Pete's, sorry my friend. This is one impressive layout hands down!

I used to live near a gas works in my hometown. Pete Walton said the gas tanks remind him of growing up and he can still smell the smell from the gas works., I know just what he means, it's a smell once smelt, never forgotten.

Hard to believe! He built a wonderful rail way system. It is so detailed, unbelievable. We can understand why it took so long when you stop and see the Details involved in finishing it. Fantastic , Great job !👍
I was impressed with how natural and organic all the scenery is. The weathering of the buildings was great. It wasn't mentioned, but I noticed the enormous amount of effort made on natural ground vegetation: tall dead fescue, weed clumps, ivy, etc. A wonderful addition to the realism of the layout.

What amazing attention to detail. I remember my father had a small HO layout of a freight yard which he never had the opportunity to expand upon. It was sold to a collector because when my parents retired there was no room in their new house for the railroad.

The best part of this layout isn't the trains. Or the size... Or even the general scenery.
The best part is how carefully he's integrate the names of people he cares about into it. No name is out of place and to the casual visitor would go unnoticed unless pointed out. But the layout is littered with them, you can barely look in a direction without passing one. It's very touching and very nicely executed.

This is an awesome acheivement. I am amazed just how well Pete has managed to settle the buildings and structures into the ground. They are part of the world, not stuck on top of it. The passage of the steam loco and train over the metal bridge over the water is the best I have ever seen. Pete Walton - you are an incredible modeller. Well shot Lou!

The geology is fantastic. The rock face and foliage textures are superbly caught in video. I am in Scotland UK so it is a bit far to drop in to experience.

Lou, now THIS is a true REALISTIC model railroad layout and it cannot be compared to that layout of John Muccianti you did where I left my comment that I know people are going to take as an ugly comment but I assure you it was not. I was simply being honest there just as I am here on Pete's layout which is a true REAL looking model railroad. You can't even put that other layout in the same class because there's no comparison my friend. This layout is simply amazing and one of the most realistic layouts I've ever seen and then you look at John Muccianti's toy train set-up and the difference is like day & night.
When I think a true, real looking, modeled to prototype cities & railroads layouts, this is what I expect to see and if you're (anyone) talking about a toy train looking layout like one would expect to see under a Christmas tree or a Christmas village, that's where John Muccianti's layout fits in. As I said, there's no comparison and John's layout can't even begin to compare to the class & reality of this layout of Pete's, sorry my friend. This is one impressive layout hands down!

I used to live near a gas works in my hometown. Pete Walton said the gas tanks remind him of growing up and he can still smell the smell from the gas works., I know just what he means, it's a smell once smelt, never forgotten.

I love Howe he has the trains running at proper scale speed. Most layouts run their trains way too fast for their scale. Thanks for letting us see such a beautiful layout. Was that steam train the BigBoy?

I was impressed with how natural and organic all the scenery is. The weathering of the buildings was great. It wasn't mentioned, but I noticed the enormous amount of effort made on natural ground vegetation: tall dead fescue, weed clumps, ivy, etc. A wonderful addition to the realism of the layout.

What amazing attention to detail. I remember my father had a small HO layout of a freight yard which he never had the opportunity to expand upon. It was sold to a collector because when my parents retired there was no room in their new house for the railroad.
