Those black pants ONJ had on from wardrobe were genuine 1950's pants and they had to sew ONJ up in them because the zip was busted every day. She laughed and said "You can imagine I didn't eat and drink much on those days of filming". She retained the pants and decades later when she built her Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia she auctioned them off to help with the fonds and a billionaire bought them for $160,000 and eventually gave them back as a present to ONJ, which was nice of him.

Nancy Reagan told John that Diana’s fantasy was to dance with him so, at the First Lady’s prompting, he invited Diana to join him on the dance floor. @@theodoreritola7641 Sorry, I am not sure what you point is. She was already internationally known for singing long before Grease. Probably why she got the role of Sandy. Grease definitely was huge for her career. The Physical video in the 80's launched workout fashion trends very popular in the decade and some lasting to this day. Also the Physical video and Jane Fonds workouts launched the popularity of aerobic excercise in the 80's and much of that lasts until today in some form. My main point to the reactors is she is huge and her music might be of interest to them since reacting to music is what they do.

Growing up in the mid 1970s, one of many great T.V. sitcoms on the air was, "Welcome Back Kotter" starring Gabe Kaplan. This is where John Travolta got his start to stardom at the age of 21 playing the role of Vinnie Barbarino, the high school class cut up . His character was known for saying to his classmates as a put down, "Up your nose with a rubber hose!". Shortly after, he would go on to star in "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease".. Olivia Newton-John would become a music superstar in her own right with many hits in the U.S.

The T-Birds were supposed to be greasers. Before John Travolta was in the iconic movies "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever", he had already become a star in the hit TV sit com, "Welcome Back Kotter". Olivia Newton John was also a star in her own right... she was already a very famous, Australian pop singer. A side note to that last scene in the movie... While Sandy tried to become more like one of the "Pink ladies", in secret, and as a surprise for Sandy, Danny Zuko had taken up a sport to impress her. At the end of their Senior year in high school, Danny had earned his "Letterman" sweater to give to Sandy. Both Sandy and Danny loved each other so much, they had each tried tried to change a little, to make the other one happy.

Both John and Olivia had great chemistry together in the movie. Though they tried to recreate the magic with other films, and those didnt get the praise of Grease, they remained great friends until her passing. If you want to see more of earlier Travolta, watch both Saturday Night Fever and Welcome Back Kotter. He just turned 70 recently. Fun fact: they were not the original choices for the lead roles. Henry Winkler aka The Fonz from happy days and Marie Ormond were the original choices, but they turned those roles down because they didn't want to be typecast.

John Travolta was in the touring company of Grease before he got on TV and in movies. In 1975 he was on TV with Welcome Back, Kotter, and had a small part in the horror film Carrie. Within a few years he was nominated for an Oscar for the disco classic Saturday Night Fever, then Grease and Urban Cowboy had him in a trifecta of hits that influenced popular culture.
Aussie national treasure Olivia Newton-John may look familiar because she died about a year and a half ago after a decades-long fight with cancer, so there were many retrospectives on her.

This movie was released just after my high school graduation in 1978. I saw it in the theater because OLIVIA was in it. She was my crush from my freshman year all the way through until she passed away in August 2022. Her voice is incredible. Her first American hits were in the country music genre in 1973. Her first #1 came in 1974 with "I Honestly Love You". From that point on, she held a very special place in my heart. Truth be told, it was likewise for many guys back then. We all had Farrah Fawcett's poster on our walls; Stevie Nicks haunting certain kinds of dreams of teen year. But, Olivia was the one everybody wanted for a girlfriend.
Grease was a watershed moment for her career too. Just like her character, her music changed right after that movie. Her songs became pop rock and had edgier subjects. "Physical" being a prime example. She had multiple hit albums and song for years after.
The farewell scene is Grease became bittersweet when she passed. Any of her songs would be worth your reactions. Oh, and one of her songs, "Xanadu" is from a movie in which her co-star was Gene Kelly.

My favorite memory of this movie/song was back when it first came out in the 1970's. I was in the US Navy and my ship made a port visit to Athens, Greece. While I was out on liberty I stumbled across a movie theater that played American first run movies, Grease was playing. Given it was a musical, it was subtitled, so I was able to enjoy it. The shock I got was when the movie got to this scene/song. The entire audience sang with Olivia and John, in Greek accented English of course. It was the ONLY song the audience jumped in on. What a treat to experience that.
Olivia was touring a few years back, before her death, and John came onstage and sang this song with her. They both still sounded great.

I was already singing a lot, but Olivia Newton- John was my hero. Not only was she in my first movie but she was the first person I ever saw in concert. I was in music classes and eventually vocal ensemble and A Cappella groups because of her. She was in 3 movies, well unless you count the last Sharknado movie. Two with John, Grease and Two of a Kind, and Xanadu. Grease is the only one most remember though. She was a huge music artist though who sang country and pop and had #1's on both. I cried when she passed. She and Prince were huge musical influences on me.

He still reaches out to me every now and then. Fond memories, but wish it would’ve worked out between us. He still has big piece of my heart ❤️

Urban Cowboy was the last movie John danced in, except for the scene in Pulp Fiction. UC helped put country music on the map. It has a great soundtrack.

This song actually played A LOT on the radio after the movie came out. Also, the movie song tracks were published and sold in many stores. While John Travolta had started off in tv, this was his first big movie. Olivia Newton-John was primarily a singer, but did star in a couple of other movies. Xanadu comes to mind. And there's a soundtrack from that as well. Fred Astaire co-starred in that one.

John trained in song, dance and acting and he did pretty good in all aspects. Olivia Newton John's fame was as a singer. They were a good match-up. Haha, listening to a TV ad playing the chorus from this song right now. It's for a flea collar, where a kid picks out a shelter dog to adopt. Never noticed it before.

Travolta played teen heartthrob, Vinnie Barbarino, in the mid 70's TV show Welcome Back Kotter. His 1st movie hit was in Steven King's and Brian DePalma's horror classic "Carrie" in 1976. 1977's Saturday Night Fever shot him to fame with his white suit, disco dancing and his iconic movie opening, "Strut" to the Bee Gees, Disco Anthem, "Staying Alive". Disco was so fun. Olivia Newton John was the "Australian Neutron Bomb". She was most famous for her singing and music videos. You should react to her "Let's Get Physical", one of MTV's most popular vids ever. She dated singer, Andy Gibb, the Bee Gee's younger brother before he died young from cocaine use. Sadly, Andy was poised to join his brothers group when he succumbed to his demons.

I was 14 when 'Grease' the Movie came out, only shortly after, 'Saturday Night Fever', I think there may have been a year between them. So everyone knew who John Travolta was even here in the UK. Olivia Newton John was a very well known Australian singer, here in the UK. Not sure how well she was known in the US. We all laughed at all these 25 and 30 year olds playing school kids. But I don't think we understood that in America 'School' meant any education. School ended in the UK at 16. Then it was Further Education & College or University which you attended as Students not pupils. Adults not Children. Graduation only happens here at Colleges or University for professional qualifications or Degrees at the lowest.

We Go Together is the finale song before it loops back into the Grease theme in the credits. I saw GREASE five times in the movie theater and many times on tv/video. In the clip where she plays a cheerleader, the woman with the dark hair who looks 30 who plays a high school student Rizzo(Stockard Channing) of Broadway, TV, and Film is a Harvard graduate. The woman in yellow Pink Lady Marty at the carnival in Dinah Manoff from Child's Play movie and her mom is Oscar winner Lee Grant. Early Travolta is also Urban Cowboy. Sadly the actor who played Kenikie(Jeff Conway, Taxi tv series) while dancing during Greased Lightening, injured himself and later became addicted to painkillers. Great reaction!

Phil you were wondering what other films you may have seen Olivia Newton John in. She wasn't really in films that much but rather she was one of the biggest pop music artists throughout the 1970s and into the 80s. The music industry is where she made her mark, and a huge mark it was! Tons of albums and two volumes of greatest hits. You need to check out some of her songs. Olivia died last year from her previous breast cancer spreading after courageously battling remissions and recurrences for decades.
