Thank you for sharing your experience and for the time served. Most people are knowledgeable about the sacrifices service members make however some don’t understand how the sacrifices were made.
Thank you for your dedication and hard work in the military! I also served and understand how a chain of command can be selfish and not want to let you retire or give you the proper time to get your affairs in order. It's sad how they treat some soldiers. 🫡 Thank you for your SACRIFICE!
This is why I love where I work now. I just quit a company that screwed me out of insurance and was just a bad work environment. I was just a number. One day my dad pulled me aside and told me not to do what he did. He told me to put my kids and family first. I quit my job the next day and haven’t looked back. I worked at a small painting company that had high expectations (the usual). I was informed about an employee who spent countless hours and bent backwards for the company. The guy literally worked to death... he passed away while on the job and had sacrificed all his time away from family. The company didn't even acknowledge him for his hard work. Let alone give his family money to cover for their loss. Don't ever give your life up, especially to these greedy corporations. Work to live, and dont live to work.
His company acknowledged him every payday with a paycheck and every Monday morning w a job. Don’t be greedy . Someone else would love to have your job , so go ahead and leave that place .

When my mom passed, I got her house, her car, and about 80% of her other belongings. 20% went to my sister. My boss gave me 30 days of paid leave to grieve and move. The truly valuable people at my job would probably take two new hires to replace, and they would only *start* keeping up with the one old employee's output *after* they got trained.

I worked with a guy with a small company from the moment I left school at 15. At first it was just me and him and we worked well together. The company grew and employed more people but I was always 2nd in command. After 22yrs he started to disrespect me and all the experience I brought to the company. So I left. 15yrs later there was a knock on my door. I opened it to see my old boss standing there. He came to apologise to me for how he had treated me and told me that he didn't realise how valuable I was till I was gone. At least he finally recognised it. I was asked to speak at his funeral.

I work for a company that told us to get used to their faces because we would see them more than our children and husband. I no longer work there. That didn't sit well with me. These greedy companies could care less about their employee's.
I used to work in a call center. On the holidays it was really crazy. The supervisor just fell out of his chair and died, heart attack. He wasn’t 30 yet. The emt’s came put him on a gurney and left. Everyone was silent. About 150 people were there. The big bosses told us to get back to work. 2 ft away from where the dead body had been 15 minutes earlier. That’s cold, really heartless.
@Taluta394 sorry you had that experience. How soon after did you leave? Work is work but situations like this are why there are so many extra rules and resources now, like a company counselor/therapist you could talk to. Some businesses have to be forced to treat people like people and to give them time to tend to the needs of their humanity outside of what the company is paid for.

Several months later, I skipped a vacation with my kids to show loyalty for the job. A couple months after, that same boss fired me for insubordination, because I disagreed with a bad decision she made. A few months later she stormed out and quit. Turns out she didn't know how to to half the stuff I was doing.
I have a friend who worked 22 years for a company. She was fired over the phone while on vacation. Some fellow employees were also on vacation and heard it first over a tv newscast.
As someone who tried to start a business, your milage may vary. There is so much more to running a business even from just yourself. I personally would rather put 40 hours a week at a corporate job than ruin another passion by trying to monetize it. Even if you are the best at your trade you still have paperwork, taxes, bills and accounting. It's great for those who can.
I think people miss the point. Start your own business and see how it feels to be responsible for payroll. You may feel undervalued but you should know what the company is doing on your behalf.

and you still being employed makes you desirable.

I have a friend who worked 22 years for a company. She was fired over the phone while on vacation. Some fellow employees were also on vacation and heard it first over a tv newscast.
The other half of the stuff you were doing, she didn't know were things that had to be done
every person who left a job, organization, or relationship where they were not truly respected.......
He walked out like a Boss!! 🔥
It is best to start your own business if you feel you have the talent.
Sounded like he wanted to retire and be with his family and stop missing out his life.
I never had fewer vacations/less time off than when I started/owned the company.
I think people miss the point. Start your own business and see how it feels to be responsible for payroll. You may feel undervalued but you should know what the company is doing on your behalf.
On death bed, no one ever says "I wish I worked more"
No but they do wish they had more to leave their families. More work/income will help with that
@@xeriklnah working more doesn't necessarily mean you have more to leave.
@@xerikl Leaving your family with great memories is way more important than leaving them with physical stuff. If your family wants you to leave them stuff, then you should question why that is?
@@heatherkingston1445 I'm going to guess that you're a woman.

Sterling is an incredible actor and the way he spoke and articulated himself all while maintaining respect and poise when the situation toward him was disrespectful is an absolute mastery. Great dialogue and great acting.
I was loyal to a fault with a company , often working 12 or 14 hours a day for six or seven days a week for roughly five years, I was compensated well, but the day I quit all I received was a smile a hand shake and a thank you. That was the biggest eye opener of my working life.
Unfortunately it's often that way. At times it's what we got to do but it's not worth it if our family or relationships suffer because of it.
What did you want?
@@Porschegirl718 it just seemed like an empty thank you if that makes sense, we were seemingly close group of people that were really helping this guy build up the business and that's fine and I didn't really expect anything except maybe a more honest or sincere thank you. May seem petty to some but to me it really drove home the fact that wether you're the person living for your work or the person that runs out the door after eight hours, unless you own the company, you both mean the same
@@Porschegirl718 Maybe they hoped for some sincere expressions that they'd be missed? It's stupid to wish for such recognition, though. It's best to do the minimum necessary at work, and seek fulfilment and true appreciation elsewhere.
That’s all your supposed to get you quit u didn’t retire there or sum
That's how a company often dies.
That's the coolest and most eloquent resignation speech I've ever heard.❤
He still didn’t lose at the end, he gained a lot of valuable experience and there are companies out there that would pay him his worth
I left a company I worked for, by asking the chairman what my name was (I was the IT manager), I'd been there several years, I walked out calling him a wanker as I left.
The owner of my company didn't know my name for the first year I was there. He would just say "Hey buddy" or "Hey dude" as I greeted him by name each morning.
As a teen, I worked for Value City in the 90s. Owned by the Schottenstiens. Mr Schottenstein was almost 90 but knew every employee that worked for him across like 70+ stores. Knew their names, their families, everything. Always a smile, a handshake, and asking how you were. Also wasn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and help. Asked him one time about it when he was helping me and he said "I started just like this. I wasn't given a million dollars to start a business. I busted my ass to earn it. I started as a stock clerk and I'll die as a stock clerk." Only owner I ever put in the extra hours to help.
“This is us” one of the best series ever‼️
By far
I need to watch it
MVP
Looks amazing! Which season and episode is this from?
Considering how inaccurately they portray the men of his kind compared the personalities they have irl, I wouldn’t say it’s much good personally.
I work for a bank as a district operations leader. My dad passed away three years ago this past August. The funeral was 2 hours away from the closest branch. I wasn't expecting anyone to drive that far. Every person from every one of my 18 branches came out and it sent me into tears. I will say that they all knew my dad and my parents are the kindest and most giving people you'll ever meet. People than have only met my father once showed up when they saw his name in the obituaries. It was the most amazing tribute to a very long life very well lived by a very giving man.
Financial freedom grants you the calm to walk out
But lots of folk don’t have that luxury.
@ no one does , you work towards it
There was a Woman in the UK who worked with old people all her life, she asked them what they regret most in life... Working to much and listen to other people instead of doing what YOU want... This was 26 years ago and i am glad today i listen to their advices
