    Undervolting the x3d is like a basic 1st thing to do at this point
    That also included undervolting the GPUs

    • @noobfailgaming5703
      @noobfailgaming5703 Год назад

      Wait undervolt? Isn't that where you reduce its allowed max power consumption? I mean they're already low power consumption cpus?

    • @yuan5154
      @yuan5154 Год назад +12

      @@noobfailgaming5703 yes undervolting, not limiting max power factor but using less voltage to power cpu n gpu
      It's more efficient while achieving the same clocks on a gpu, or a higher one for the x3d chips since they boost to a comfortable range before they hit the desired temps

    • @lege3018
      @lege3018 8 месяцев назад +8

      @@noobfailgaming5703 Enabling EXPO/XMP profiles tend to crank up the CPU voltages way more than necessary, and generating a lot of unneeded heat with it. Undervolting the CPU back to reasonable values can do wonders for your temps and on how much/long the CPU can boost before its algorithm decides the chip got too hot.
      This is especially true for the 7000x3d CPUs due to their 3d cache lowering their ability to dissipate heat, as well as their lower Tjmax values (89 C instead of 95 C) that AMD sets as a safety measure due to said lower heat dissipation.

    I’m slowly working my way down. Currently running 4950mhz with just a -15 offset. I’ll try -20 next since it’s been stable for over a week at this point.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  Год назад +11

      Every CPU is different on what off set it can take. But technically a per core off set is the best approach. However, that’s extremely time consuming. I don’t blame anyone for using an all core off set. I would jump to -30 and start testing there. It’ll save you a bunch of time. These CPUs can usually go further than -20.

After a few hours, I noticed that my bios settings were reset. So, I undervolted my CPU with the same values again. Now it's running at 65 °C under full load, it was running 90 °C

    Don’t run neg 30 without proper testing unless you have the ability to set load line calibration. If your board has LLC then set it to a mid setting like performance and then set your neg to 30-40
    Without LLC if you aren’t going to do proper stability testing you should just do negative 20.
    This is well documented. Just under half can do negative 30 without LLC. Most can do negative 50 with LLC set to a mid setting.

      Just got the CPU so I'm not an experl. It is not like intel CPUs of the past where you push voltage and multi as hight as you can. What he talks about is curve optimiser, you use this to push negative voltage offset as low as it can go. The lower you can go on voltage(depending on silicon lottery) the high your boost clocks. You do not have control over the multiplier directly , the CPU will boost as high as it can within power limits and the lower the voltage your cpu can take the more headroom there is.

      The only issue with this video and I should have clarified better is that “-30” is CPU dependent. Some CPUs can handle it. Some cannot. Other than that, everything else is solid. You need to find your negative off set that works for you. It may be -25. It may be -20. It’s trial and error.

    • @MrTuxy

      No, every CPU is slightly differnt depending on luck of the drawn on silicon quaility. Negative 30 all core would be above average. You may get lucky but some can only do negative 15. 20 - 25 would be more typical. But no matter what you find stable for your system there is only a cople of frames difference in gaming so take the time to find the curve optimser that works for your cpu but don't be disipointed in the results.
