I used a cover from an old "Trixie Belden" book that I owned when I was young. The book fell apart, and I preserved parts of it by incorporating in into a junk journal.
I am behind on my RUclips videos, so I have watched several of yours in a row now. I so enjoy seeing your junk journals. I really like the children's books. They are such fun. Thank you for sharing your journals and inspiring us all!
Cute cute cute !! So many neat ideas. I'll have to mark this one too, so I'll have ideas for mine when I get to make it. Thanks again for being such an inspiration. Hugs
If you are like me, you have a long list of journals you want to make! So many books, so little time. (I usually say that about books I want to read, but it applies here, too!)
OMG, I read TB when I was a kid...I loved all of those books with Trixie and her friends --let's see, there was Mart, and Honey and another young man whose name escapes me---sleuthing about. Many happy hours were spent reading about their adventures! Haven't seen one of these books in years. Your junk journal is adorable.
Love your Journal. I had Trixie Belden books, My favorite was Trixie Belden and the Gate House Mysteries. At least I think That was the name. I am getting older can't remember that long ago. Thanks for sharing...Dar
I love your use of scraps to put together this journal. It really does look like a "junk journal." I esp love how the original vintage illustrations from the book blended in so seamlessly with the scraps of paper you used. Great job!
love these old books.I have one similar to this one that I will journal soon and an original copy of Wuthering Heights .cant wait to journal them both. great job on this one .many ideas .thanks for the inspiration.
Very very nice......one more journal for me to make...I just purchased a 'very' lol old RV.....it 'is' stationary....so it has a cute florida room addition, with a 'shed' attached...which I'm making 'into' my 'craft' room.....I've gone from 7 'closets' to ONE....each door of the closet opens and becomesa door for each side of the 'bathroom' ...My plan is to once again...decoupage the ..inside of the doors ...so when open and toilet in use...it will have various old time..pictures/info of the 30's - 60's.....I've done that before and it came out awesome..That's what this journal reminds me of ........ The Good Ole Days : )
It is trick I learned from other videos. You open the envelope seams (steam it if you have to), place it into the center of your signature, stitch the signature to the spine, and then reseal the envelope seams. It hides your stitches, although I don't mind them showing.
I have sold some of my work, but I don't currently have a venue for selling. I used to sell in a little local shop. I don't have an etsy store or anything.
I see lot of Trixie fans here. If you aren't already involved there's a very nice internet community around our girl - including fanfiction, message boards and a yearly convention. We've even been to the real Crabapple Farm.
I love this journal. I have a sewing question. Do you do your sewing after you put your signatures together but before you stitch them to the binding? I would think it would be pretty awkward trying to sew onto pages once the book was complete. I love to sew on paper and would love to incorporate some of your ideas into a journal. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
I do all of my gluing and sewing before I stitch the pages into the binding. They are just loose pages until I stitch them in. Occasionally I may glue something in afterwards, but the machine stitching and the stamping are done on the loose pages. Hope this answers your question. I am glad you got some ideas from my book, as I get so many ideas from others. Happy crafting!
Diane, I love your journal. I do not remember Trixie Belden. I"m 60, is she durning my generation? :) Any way I love how you used part of the book in the journals. It is so colorful. Great job and tfs. XO Rhonda
She was, I'm not much older than you and there were several TB books that I read when was 9 or 10 and older. She was my favorite. I was never able to get into Nancy Drew who was around long before TB.
I love it. What was Trixie's friend's name? I love the colors in this one. Remember, I told you I bought books to use and then had a hard time? One of them is a Trixie Belden book! Maybe this will inspire me to actually use it. ; )
Her friend's name was Honey. I hope you will be able to bring yourself to use some of the books you bought.. including Trixie Belden! I tell myself they had a good life, but this is the reason I bought them. They will have a new use! Good luck!
I thought her name was Honey. I am getting inspired each time I watch you. My favorite series besides anything to do with horses was the Box Cox Children, maybe I'll do a journal for me out of one of them if I find it. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful journal! Trixie Belden was one of my favourite series to read, great memories!
I loved Trixie Belden books!

Adorable journal. The little clear circle is a bingo marker.

That's one of the deluxe editions! I have all 15! (Or 16, I forget) I LOVE the artwork in this edition better than the "regular" drawings
Trixie belden books are as rare as hens teeth here in nz. I'm looking for some just to read again!!
I love it. I have some very old Bobbsey Twins books that I could alter. Thank you for sharing😘Do you sell your journals?
I have sold some, but I don't have an outlet for selling them. I don't have an Etsy store. I keep thinking about it.
I would love it if you had an etsy store!
I agree....I think you should get an Etsy store; it would do very well. Just sayin'.
This is really nice! How did you secure that little blue envelope into the signature?
Do you sell your work?
