Your garden is BEAUTIFUL .Every plant every tree does its own thing,just like people,no matter how much you learn ,you will always have success and failures. .I too am OCD but the best thing I have learned,is to give myself GRACE in gardening and enjoy it .I am in the South,so I am on the boxwood team ,I love love them Happy Fall 🍁🍂

Love your garden. I think a reason your flowers do better in the regular beds is due to biodiversity you’re creating by mixing up plant types. I understand that this is important as some plants give and some take from the soil.
Hi Claudia and Sergey 👋 I love your laugh 😊 Our Purple Loropetalums are in the Witch Hazel family and they are also called Fringe Flowers, They bloom in Spring and Fall, and the flowers are a pinkish purple. 1 of my "ALL TIME FAVORITES " 😍 Your Maples are a beautiful vibrant red.. I am excited about the side yard project with Kate! I hear a lot that if a shrub/tree fails in an area, not to go in and plant the same type to replace the dead. 🤷♀️😊 I love Ruby Falls Red Buds 😍 Your gardens are absolutely beautiful! Remember gardens are ever changing, ever growing. They have smaller boxwoods and there is a new variety called better boxwoods (I copied and pasted) Better Boxwood® Help prevent the spread of boxwood blight with Better Boxwood, the first collection of scientifically bred blight-resistant boxwood zones 5-9. (I can't remember your zone...) Also there are 4 different sizes and shapes. I have also seen people use some Hollies in place of boxwoods, they are soft and are really nice looking hedges. Rosemary as well looks beautiful. Just unsure in your zone. I don't experience much transitioning fall color here in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast. I pretty much go from green to brown 😕😂 You two take care and thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens with us my friends. 😊
Hi Claudia, I once planted tulips in containers on my deck to over winter. Deck is 12 feet off the ground. The squirrels found them. How???? Anyhow, now I put the containers under the deck with chicken wire over them for the winter. Last year they grew!!!!
No boxwoods!!! So many RUclipsrs all go to the boxwoods. I know Laura is a big I fluence on you all but she has a lot of room to do that. Oh well, just a thought. Your back yard will look cluttered too. 😊

I would test the soil where the beech tree keeps dying before you plant anything there

Another hedge option could be dwarf lavender or short grasses
