Saddle leather is some of the finest leather in the world. My hermes side-saddle is 100 years old and still perfect. I inboxed the saddle and modeled it on my stallion Qmspirit. Then I decided to use it as design element in my home. The leather aroma is still there.
They still sell AND display their saddles! They are expertly crafted and the highest quality.
So cool! Wish I could see a picture of it ;--)
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the*preluxs* as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
The variety of textures in the *jklux* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Hermes “special” Birkins and Kellys are delivered in blue boxes. Some of the exotic skin bags as well.
Wow, I didn’t know this, this was fun information!
My friend was able to get a Kelly in Paris with no purchase history. She said the SA was very nice and took her to a room and brought the three Kellys and she got to pick one and buy it. She was expecting to leave with an Evelyne because she’s never bought anything from Hermes.
But you need to score an appointment in leather department! Once you’re in, you are likely to get something.
kelly 35?
@@ShweMyaukMyauk I think she said it’s a 28 but I’m not 100% sure. She lives in another state and I can’t tell for sure by the photos. I’m not really an Hermes person so I haven’t bothered to become too familiar. She was so excited though.
@@Serena_9 She didn’t have an appointment. I don’t know how this happened for her.
A croc birkin 30 is not necessarily a special order.
Special orders are technically called "a la carte" orders by Hermès. They are bags where the client selects the specifications of the bag. There are two types of special orders: regular skin special orders and exotic skin special orders. Both of these involve selecting your bag type, size, leather, exterior color, interior color, thread color, hardware color, strap length. Then you wait approximately 6-24 months for your bag to be made for you and delivered. They are delivered in a standard orange box.
All this phenomenon of scarcity, exclusive boxes, limited editions are just marketing tricks to get our money and, yes, we fools fall for it. 🙈😂
Just because it’s blue boxed doesn’t mean it’s more desirable. The Bolide Skate is a special edition and it sells like coldcakes.
I believe it’s ethical! I see no wrong doing with Hermès. Im hoping to add the Faubourg Birkin to my collection…. It’s a very rare special piece . Love these videos and keep them coming dear ! ❤️🙏🏾🫶🏽
Hi Sophie, you look lovely in your tan blazer! 🥰 I'm looking forward to your more down-to-earth videos on the other channel as well.. need to catch up.
Soooo true that they don’t want everyone to carry it. The blue orange box do look cool. 🧡💙🍊 thanks for sharing my lady. 🙏🏼😘😘😘Sandy
Hi Sophie ! Have you considered purchasing a pre-loved Hermès from places like Luxury Promise ? You can pick up a model ( size, colour, type of leather , stitching etc ) that is much more to your taste and save up all the money you have to spend at a Hermès boutique before they offer you a model ... in yellow 🤨
I suspect that this is why there’s so many Birkins and Kellys out there. It’s impossible for most normal people to get one from the boutiques but easy as pie to get a preloved one, you just need money. They have the reputation of being sold at a huge premium but there’s still bargains to be found if you look hard enough. My theory was to buy a vintage one that has seen better days and have it refurbished and I got a Kelly for well under retail and it needs a few minor repairs but for the most part it’s in amazing condition. So it can be done without paying an arm and a leg.
Hi Sophie, Thank You for this interesting video ! I totally agree with you ! I did not know about orange blue Hermes box. Seems they do have a good marketing team …❤️
I wonder if there is something like a lucky draw system behind the scenes where customers without purchase history get offered a quota bag… i love that hermes is still a family run brand. Its so rare now. I remember how much i loved the body shop. Now their products are the same as other brands…
Hello Sophie, another informative video. One of the reasons the Kelly and Birkin are so hard to get is due to artisan time. The supply is really limited due to the fact that each bag is made by one person, taking several weeks to complete. Unlike a factory conveyer belt model, bags are not just churned out. The artisan must work as an apprenticeship for years to perfect skills. It is similar to a tailor making you a suit, taking hours to craft and hone his skills and applying them to merchandise by hand.
I never knew about blue boxes! 😲 Thanks to your subbie for switching you on to the subject! Have a great week, Sophie x
I believe you are spot on regarding the marketing of the ‘blue box’. It’s just a shame there are people who fall for such marketing tactics. A degree of manipulation.
I have a few of those blue boxes - but TBH, I didn't purchase the bags for their boxes, which would be silly! I got those bags because they are fun and unique iterations of their normal/traditional models (Birkins, Bolides, etc). However, I understand how some people may get excited about these boxes and other brands' packaging, and I can see how this can be great marketing tactics/manipulation. For example - DIOR boxes (and how they get well known designers to design them as well).
you dont own hermes do you?
@@wkn4126 enjoy your beautiful bags 😊
Influencers have definitely had a negative impact (from the brands perspective) for the reasons you stated but they have lifted the mystique on who can get one. If all these influencers can get one, people will feel they too can get one (and many do) whereas before the bags were for THE RICH.
Hi Sophie, have you thought of travelling to Paris and getting your Constance through the Hermes flagship store there? Since they offer a lottery system for appointments, both you and your husband could try for an appointment for the purchase.
Great and insightful video Sophie. Loooving this 🎉
Imagine wanting an expensive item more just because of the box it comes in. 😵💫
Sophie, I have a question. Including yourself, many youtubers talk a lot about about Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci (bags) but I don't hear too much about Versace, DG, Givenchy, Balmain bags. Are these brands not considered luxury or not enough high-luxury?
IMO many influencers and youtubers just follow the herd and don't have a personal style. It all becomes very boring when so many have the same jewelry, the same bag brands etc. It's like they just tick off boxes for what they are "supposed" to have in their closet.
Very informative. They totally have a great marketing team over there.
I think Hermès has a good racket going on n the blue box adds to the mystery.... they have a crazy smart team that thought up the blue boxes. 🎉 Ev
Hi Sophie!!! 45 mins late I was sitting out in the garden enjoying the fabulous sunshine. Hugs xx
I was at the hardware store one time and this lady had her Birkin in the dirty shopping cart. I don’t get the appeal 😅 They aren’t traditionally cute like a Chanel or YSL bag in my view
I mean, it IS just a handbag. I take good care of bags, but if I’m shopping, it goes in the trolley.
The Birkin is rather matronly to me. Plus, I'm just not going to spend that much on a handbag, and I love handbags. Hermes is just running a con. Watch some of the videos from former Hermes employees. Many are hilarious!
@@shannonpeterson1694 at a hardware store though? When it’s covered in literal dirt? Those Home Depot carts are filthy! Target or Marshalls fine i can understand.
Never knew about the blue box, very interesting. I didn’t believe people randomly got Birkins until I saw what happened with the Australian RUclipsr @daylesaddiction who got it when her friend Meredith was at an appointment. That was incredibly, I know Meredith had an VIP appointment in Paris but still
I am sure you are right! Thank you for the video.
We went to Hermes in Las Vegas, and after having the SA assume we were only there to look, we were told they were completely sold out of all leather goods. Maybe it was true, maybe not, but it was very off putting. 🤷🏼♀️
How do you know she assumed you weren’t buying?
@@emajjabowen6748 because he said, “You’re just looking, right?” Seemed pretty clear to us. 🤷🏼♀️😂
The way you present it! You really focused on introducing this package. I don't think there is any other RUclipsr who shows off bags in as much detail as you do *jklux* .
That was my first thought, I think covid had a lot to win it. They keep trying it seems to come up with exclusively. Thanks for the information ❤❤❤
hi sophie i think it's a spot on observation. for indonesia who is still deemed as a third world country, in the capital city you can see lots of people toting hermes in the higher end shopping malls. it's also being a known tip that it's somewhat better to buy from a trusted reseller because you can choose the specifications of your preferred bag instead of gambling with the SAs in the stores abroad. so if you have the money, getting a birkin is definitely not as hard as it seems these days.
Hi Sophie. But isn’t it because of “exclusivity” that made people buy all unnecessary items to try to get a rare bag and because of that Hermes got sued? There are two people who took Hermes to court for that. They don’t necessarily ‘force you’re to buy, but that ‘exclusivity’ makes people shop items they don’t want to be ‘worthy’ of being offered at bag. Would like your thoughts on that. Also I would NEVER let reseller ‘earn’ the money that way. They are thieves. There are plenty of luxury bags even more beautiful than hermes itself for a fraction of pricd what hermes charges. If an item is too hard to get Im not interested chasing it! Life is too short. Put the money on buying a house instead.
Good video 👏🇺🇸
Wow very insightful and informative 😊💝💝
I was thinking the same thing because a large amount of RUclips influences seem to have either a Birkin or a Kelly or several of each . Which also makes me wonder how much money do these girls actually make or are they going into major debt .
The blue box idea is quite a brilliant one, and it looks really good and luxurious. However, I can't find myself to ignore the context, where this introduction had to be made because Hermes... lost its control over who to sell its products to? I mean, it's the brand who has the power of choosing its purchasing customers - and years later they find that too many people possess Hermes handbags (in their opinion). Oh, the irony. ;)
I understand what you mean by Birkins being so common that it kind of kills the allure of it. I see these videos and reels about people who own over 100 bags of the same type. That cheapens it for me for some reason. Although I love the colors and the leather is amazing, I don't think they are worth the price of someone's retirement fund.
Birkens and Kellys aren’t rare. I see them quite often in Tokyo (wearing a fake here is a big no no. People would rather buy a real bag that they can afford, even if it’s a “lesser” brand). There’s even a RUclipsr here who interviews people on the street and asks about their Hermes bags. If you visit any secondhand luxury shop in Tokyo, there are tons of Hermes bags for sale. What’s rare is being able to buy a Birkin or Kelly from the actual Hermes store (I haven’t tried it because I am not particularly fond of their bags, but the same RUclipsr who interviews people about their Hermes bags has also made videos on trying to purchase a Birkin or Kelly in Japan with no luck).
Hi Sophie! I’m surprisingly really early on your video today.
Just want to share my Hermes story with you. I actually was able to purchase a Picotin bag from the U.S. website, while walking on the street on my last day in London, two days ago 😂
My friend sent me a message randomly that it was in stock on the website. I tried clicking on it but little to no hope because I was never able to even add it to my cart. That day I was able to, and after a few tries while walking around, was able to process the payment. Not the blue box story, but I don’t have to purchase unnecessary things with that and I’m so happy.
I just got my first Hermes bag from actual Hermes today and it’s a blue box birkin 35 anate. My salesgirl who I adore told me to look up blue box which is why I’m here and wow did I get lucky! I just started no more than 3 months ago and I did not spend more than $10 or $15k I don’t think. I’m a guy too so I feel like my spending potential isn’t even that great. Also! Im a local!
Enjoy your beautiful new item my friend! 🤩😍 Hugs xx🩷🩷
There's nothing wrong with blue boxes. I want an exotic for my 30th and hope to get my bag in a blue box.
Exotics (croc, alligator, ostrich) come in a normal box …
Blue boxes are for limited edition/special edition bags like the Kelly Doll, Faubourg Birkins etc. Not exotics.
Hi Sophie!!! ❤
I have fallen so far from the luxury wagon! Once upon a time, I would have wanted a bag like that. Now, I just cannot justify spending that much not just because of rising costs of living etc, but because I have an expensive hobby that takes up all my money. I also like unique things; and as you said, if something is everywhere, it's just not as common. I haven't seen many birkins in Sydney; but then again I think it's simply that I don't mingle in that pool of social group. I have seen one or two around in my hair salon (some of the clientele can afford a bit more) and I have seen them in Paris (last time I was there before covid) with foreigners really wanting to flash them.
I still find some of the bags elegant; I actually like a small kelly. But I think it always goes back to my original mindset; if I'm going to spend a lot, I want to buy something i'd like, not something someone has picked out for me. We have so much waste and consumerism in today's world; I honestly don't think I could spend so much on something so costly that I didn't want. I don't envy other women who desire these bags; I know people who make less than me but who pour all their energy and savings in to just saving for that particular bag. I poor all my energy and money into scuba diving and the holidays from it aren't cheap. I'm a finance person, not marketing but everything you said makes sense; I Iactually googled and did see some people with the blue box. With social media, of course someone is going to flash them! Surprisingly quite a few people have them!
I personally scored a Kelly in Paris with no appointment and no purchase history last summer! It can happen. Yes we can say Birkins and Kelly’s are not rare but they also exist for a very long time. People easily get it on the resale market if they really want one. It’s much more difficult to get from the boutique. But still for one Birkin I see, I will see 20 Coach bags. So to me, there’s still an exclusivity attached to it. I went back to visit my family in Canada this winter and I saw zero of these bags outside of Montreal ( I saw one there). So it’s also depends on where you are, in the most affluent cities, you see them more but go outside and you won’t. As far as the blue boxes, they are not attractive to me but I would take an SO anytime!!!
I do like the Birkin and the Kelly and I will try to get an appointment in Paris, but as someone who lives in Europe I see Birkins somewhat frequently and have never seen someone carrying a Rogue for example, and saw someone carrying a Tabby once.
I mostly see pólene and the rocky bag by Zadig&Voltaire everywhere
@@ccscatena Funny since here, they are absolutely everywhere. But Coach is an American brand so it makes sense like Hermès is French and already more accessible for French people than in the US.
I highly doubt this story tbh. For everyone who gets an appointment in Paris 100 more don’t. Of the few who do, not all will get offered a desirable K or B 🤷♀️
@@cap4life1 It’s totally my story and got a Kelly 28 Bleu de Prusse! You can believe it or not, I have the bag and it’s what matters!
Funny thing is the majority of the Blue box bag are ugly as heck 😂 I'll stick to the Mini Kelly ❤
Our society puts to much emphasis on bags
LVMH partially own hermes, it’s not as we think
I wouldn’t carry one if Hermes gave a limited edition to me
The knockoff market just has a new production thing to do
Msn Messenger was the best😂😂
I was obsessed!!!!🤣xx
A lot of "Birkin's" are indeed fake. I have a 24 year old Kelly and a 1 year old B25 touch new from the store, amongst a few other Hermes bags. Once you have Hermes bags you realise how amazing the quality actually is and how most of them are just not real. I do buy from other brands still, I just prefer the quality of Hermes.
This is why I don’t think people should be allowed to record inside luxury stores. I always thought it was a bit weird that people could record inside these “high end” places and sticking the camera in SAs faces as they are handed bags etc. everything is way too accessible these days, I miss the mystique.
to be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The listed price is approximately 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *gtdupe* buying images and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing
