Can't wait to see what results you get. Most important mental exercise is to keep one's expectations managed but take comfort in the fact that the only real way to learn is by goin' through the process yourself. Your video is very reminiscent of my first time as well. Could write a whole lot, but quickly one of the first things I learned is that pretty much any book I have that is over 7 years needs a press if shootin' for that 9.8. When first startin' out, books w/out spine ticks or creases I thought were at least 9.4s or better (and they probably woulda been) came back as 9.0s & 9.2s w/out the pressing. There's so much you can't see w/ just your eyes if not trained. I get it though, it's expensive & there are issues w/ CGCs own service too. If you'll never press your own, I recommend finding someone local who does. It will probably be half the price and you won't have to ship books back and forth for their service. Second, when ya can, ship in bulk to save $ on shipping. It's a sneaky expense both ways. Third, replace all Scotch tape with painters tape & create a single folded-over pull tab on the back of the bag. Graders appreciate this gesture (maybe helps put them in a better mood?) and it will also keep your books safer during extraction. Best of luck! It's addictive as hell!

seems expensive. I'll stick to buying already slabbed deals. new comics dont' need it IMHO.

Just subbed my high grade ASM 129 for a new holder. Now that was nerve wracking. Came back in great shape.

I still remember the first time that I send out books ( years ago ) . At that point it was rather difficult or more complex that I thought. I got them back and was happy with the grading, but with the shipping to Belgium and the customs issues is was a rather difficult process. So I did it once and never did it again 😂. But the comics themself were fenomenal. CGC does an amazing job that's for sure. But great video mister 👍👏

Thanks for the tutorial! I love the 3 CGC’s that I bought (1 from my comic store and 2 from your Rogues auctions) but for me I just buy picture frames at Walmart and put the comics in them, CGC is just too expensive to do.

PRO TIP- Check your local shops to see if there's a CGC authorized dealer/shop in your area. Submitting through a dealer with a premium account will often get your books processed FASTER and CHEAPER than submitting privately(unless you submit a lot of books and hold a premium account).

If I had a ton of comics I wanted to grade how would I myself become a premium grader. Father passed 7 years ago and left behind a ton of box’s of comics that he collected since he was a small kid.

Hi. I had a question. The value section. Is that the value you payed for the comic ?

Hey Chris - you might want to edit out or blur the parts of the video that show your address. You probably don't want that to be visible to the masses.

I personally don't get books graded anymore because there is no standard grading practice anymore. Grading companies are supposed to be going by the Overstreet grading standards but most of them do there own thing now, and since there is so much subjective grey area when it comes to grading anyway it really just doesn't make sense to send books to be "professionally" graded. Coupled with the costs and ungodly slow turnaround times because all the grading companies keep themselves unnecessarily understaffed.

How do you figure out the declared value of the comic? I was told eBay, but I just a second opinion.

Very informative, thanks for sharing. Do you know if you can mix eras in a single submission to CGC? Your comics were all 'modern'. Just wondered if you can put both 'modern' and 'vintage' comics in one submission - or whether CGC don't like the mix.

I was just about to submit two of my comics to get graded but it ended up costing 89 before buying the packaging material. I guess I’ll just hold onto them as is 😢
Can you explain the pirate ship website a little more? Did you use it just to creat the shipping label or did i miss something else?
