    Because of this movie, I've blossomed as a Phan, and have been reading and watching all different adaptions of POTO. I don't care what the POTO 2004 haters say; I was introduced to POTO thanks to this movie.

      As someone who‘s been a Phan for 30 years, I can confidently say this movie fulfilled the purpose it was created for - it introduced this story in a fresh way to a whole new generation. And for an old schooler like me, made me fall in love with the story all over again.
      I’ll never fully understand all the criticism this movie and its cast have received.

      Same! Phantom was always a show I wanted to see but couldn’t afford too, then the film came out and I became obsessed. In 2009 I finally got to see the show in London and mr Ramin Karimloo was my first phantom I saw.

    The best Phantom-Gerard Butler!He is so passionate,seductive and convincing in this role,when I so him playing this I couldn't imagine anyone else as Phantom.He may not be trained singer,but the way he sings...he brings so much meaning and emotions to it,and that pain in his eyes when Christine leaves... I wish they did a sequel Love never dies!Most beautiful music xD

      Ana Stefanovic I have the DVD of "Phantom Of The Opera". Each time I watch it, it breaks my heart all over again. When Gerard sings" Christine I love you" I just dissolve into a tearful wreck.x

    This is going to sound pretty weird, but thanks to this movie I am now a super fan (which means I know this musical from top to bottom and also "Love Never Dies" which is the sequel) and I said weird because many people have seen the musical first and fell in love with it when in my case was backwards. This movie was so well done that you actually wanted to be Christine and have all that beautiful costumes on, I think they all did an amazing job (including the producers, directors, crew, everyone) it was so full of elegance and beauty. The theatre is just STUNNING as well! I have to say that my favorite part of the movie is when the Phantom and Christine sing "Past the Point of No Return" is actually one of my favorite songs of all time. I saw it when I was little girl and just fell in love with it. I wish someday I could see the musical on Broadway cause its one of my favorites and it's sad that I haven't seen it live. Kind of ironic but well I saw the 25th Anniversary with Sierra and Ramin and MY GOD they were awesome!

      Scarlet Giry how cool is that! Lucky you you got to see them! The story is so well done that it really makes you want to be Christine so bad! :)

      Right! Sometimes when I'm alone I try to sing the songs from both musicals and I sound fine. But just fine, I'm not some heavenly songbird of the century, though I wish I was.

      @Claire Flanagan It's not a movie. It's just a DVD variant of the standart broadway musical with some neat touches but still not being enough to make it a "movie". It is quite obviously a stage production very much like the 25th Anniversary POTO. So, I'm still waiting for the movie.

    @Whitehall. theatre Please don't say that... it really makes me feel bad because Gerard's my favorite Phantom... I hate it when people say 'Oh Gerry's the worst Phantom' because then I wonder if Gerard Butler ever reads these comments and is offended. That's why I don't post hate comments. :) I respect all people... well, most people at least. XD

    Phantom with the best singing voice: Michael Crawford.
    Sexiest, most edgy Phantom: Gerard Butler! (Although the raw, not-classically-trained sound of Butler's voice did work pretty well for the movie.)

    • @anavgeekspassion5727
      @anavgeekspassion5727 4 года назад +5

      @Claire Flanagan I've seen most Broadway shows live including Crawford. Still, Gerard is definitely near the top. The guy knows how to act and portray the character with his voice. He puts raw emotion into his singing voice and even though some of the songs he sung had to be altered via autotune, his aggressive voice really suits the Phantom in some scenes. Not all scenes, but some. Which makes me appreciate this dude even more. The movie is so much more natural than the live musicals that I've seen (which is no surprise btw). Even though Crawford is a sublime Phantom he fails to portray the jealousy and the hate. And this is the case with most broadway Phantoms anyway. I'd personally rate Ramin and Crawford higher only because of Ramin's ability to portray the character on a similar fashion whilst retaining that immense control over his voice and because of Crawford's singing being so ghastly and way more seductive than other Phantoms I've heard. Gerard is not a bad Phantom by any means. Most people dislike him because they all want pro and trained singers to do the duty whereas Andrew specifically wanted Phantom's voice to be raw and that's the primary reason behind him choosing Gerry. He wasn't the only one auditioning for the role, yet he was picked by the man himself. People don't like him because he sounds different. Not to mention that POTO is supposed to be a musical and NOT AN OPERA. Some people actually dislike Crawford bc of the fact that he isn't as operatic as some other Phantoms. Which truthfully pisses me off by the way. The movie also introduced a lot of new fans to this beautiful world of ours. Butler isn't the best Phantom, but I don't understand the rage and anger directed towards him either. I really enjoyed the movie and I'm glad that it was made. In fact If LND's movie ever happens, I'd love to see the same cast. Gerard as the Phantom, Emmy as Christine and so on. It would make POTO more popular than it ever was before.
