    Trust-worthy news media with no perverse incentive, in 2018 : "We have 12 years to save the planet". Random lady from the UK "What! Oh no! I have to stop this!".
    Hope she can save us. Only 7 years left!

    Gosh, all this time I thought Extinction Rebellion was a movement against the extinction of plants and animals. I honestly didn't realize it was against extinction of people. This is just selfish in a way. I'm against extinction of plants and animals so I guess many of my goals are aligned with them, but my new-found understanding of the name of the group is giving me second thoughts.

    Many people (including myself) who are just as concerned about climate chance and the fate of the planet are appalled by the hooligan like behaviour of this movement. They should try to draw the uninformed people towards them and not chase them away. The actually harned their own cause by their terroristic, disruptive actions..

      That was probably the point of XR. It is run by the state and big oil in order to divide the green movement.

      Some of us have been campaigning 'respectfully', 'through official channels', 'via our political representatives' etc for decades. Literally DECADES. And yet we are where we are. We've gone past the point of effective political debate. Now it's serious, we're in the shit and the response to get effective change has to be disruptive.

    • @desertstar223
      @desertstar223 2 года назад

      Sure, be disruptive. However, be disruptive towards your target. Big Oil, Big Pharma, Corporations, Billionaires and the like. Don't disrupt the lives of people who are sympathetic to your cause, and do their own small things to effect change. Don't prevent ambulances from getting to hospitals, kids getting to school, people getting to work. I would have liked to call you an asshole, but I am a respectable person, unike you who lives in a self sustaining echo bubble.

    It's no secret we need to clean up our act and we need to move over to renewable, clean energy. BUT, a short study of climatology and history, you'll find the earth goes through cyclical events both hot and cold. Think I'm kidding? Start here and do some research, (suspicious0bservers). Not only are we moving into a solar maxim the magnetic poles are shifting 2kh per day. Our core is changing it's rotation and our magnetosphere is weakening. THOSE THINGS you are not going to change. YES, we need to clean up OUR mess, but don't confuse the 2. Instead of playing carbon credit ponzi games to get richer, (top of pyramid), THEY should be educating people and getting them to MOVE out of HIGH RISK areas!!! Okay, I'll shoosh now, Honest.

      You quote suspicious Observers as your source? A thoroughly debunked pseudo science channel Come on, you can do better. The internet is awash with proper scientific peer reviewed journals about climate change and you choose to listen to crack pots. And you convince yourself you're some authority. You also play both sides of the fence to hide your ignorance. Disappointing

      @@desertstar223 It's always the angry, ignorance that attacks, twists and assumes. Sad. I sight Ben Davidsons work in compiling supporting scientific papers and documentation as a STARTING POINT. It's obvious you've looked no further, beyond accepting something someone told you. Again, sad. I provided simple FACTUAL evidence of what is currently happening on our planet. And I could drag you through history and provide an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence and fact, HOWEVER, it's not my job to educate you. So get off your high horse, stop being a jerk and put up or shut up. Say something intelligent and or back up your claims. Eeeeesh, Honest.

      Maybe, suspicious observers might not be the best place to start, I would suggest NASA climate change, an excellent source of measurable data.
      Incidentally I'm not well off or middle class, I'm a small farmer and have been all my life. I agree with you on carbon credits and off sets.
      Its so business interests can do business as usual.

      @@honestarizona4301 Pseudo intellectuals are the same breed as flat earthers. They will NEVER admit they're wrong or at least acknowledge they don't have all the facts Facts are their enemy. So, further discussion is pointless. I rest my case. I have better things to do. Like, me and my community going to plant 10 more trees today. We've already planted 230. What have you done for your planet today?

      @@tidtidy4159 I too, was raised on a farm. I'm nothing more than an old microbiologist with a penchant for commonsense and a passion for study. MANY things are presented to you as fact from the scientific community, when in reality they are nothing more than theory. EXAMPLE, you have been taught your whole life about Darwinian theory of evolution. They tell you through the magic of abiogenesis, you have evolved over time. IF, you really believe this, then you are willing to be lead by those who are superior to you genetically/intellectually. If you believe this, then you believe you are a random accident that has evolved from a monkey. And this is complete crap. ALL men/women are created EQUAL. Now lets focus on farming. As a farmer, I'm sure you've read a few farmers almanacs yes? Are you prepared to tell me you don't believe in climate cycles? Or tell me solar maxims and minimums are not real? And the sun does not effect our climate? Lets stay grounded in reality, Honest.
