  • Welcome to Down-to-Earth Kaua‘i TV with Lyndsey! In this special episode, we have the opportunity to visit a monastery and meet Yogi Jayanatha. This monastery was founded by Guru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami in the 1970s. The monastery is comprised of five groups of monks, each specializing in different tasks. Alongside their spiritual pursuits, they also work on producing noni juice.
Noni, originally a canoe plant of the Hawaiians, holds numerous medicinal properties. According to the University of Hawaii, noni offers natural health benefits, including pain relief, assistance with insomnia, diabetes, and high blood pressure. The monastery maintains around five acres of fully grown noni trees, with an additional four acres of younger trees. The careful process of harvesting the noni fruit involves handpicking the perfectly ripe ones while exercising discrimination in selection.
The noni fruits are harvested approximately once every three weeks, requiring only three to four hours to complete the process. After the harvest, the noni goes through a series of steps, including cleaning, fermentation, and eventually juicing.
During the fermentation process, the noni emits a pungent smell, which eventually subsides as it ferments and settles within the barrels. The aged noni juice takes on a clear appearance, reminiscent of mulled wine with a warm and comforting flavor. It's a unique taste that brings a sense of comfort to the drinker.
If you're interested in trying Wailua River noni juice, you can find it online, including platforms like Amazon and eBay. Additionally, many local health food stores on the island carry this unique juice.
We express our gratitude to Yogi Jayanatha and the monastery for welcoming us and sharing valuable insights about noni juice and their spiritual practices. Before departing, there's one last treat-a fresh bite of noni fruit. It's a delightful experience that further connects us with the essence of this remarkable plant.
Join us on this episode of Down-to-Earth Kaua‘i TV as we explore the world of noni juice and the serene surroundings of the monastery.

@@yanz4636 well I drink anywhere from 30 to 100 mls depending on my fibro flare ups I have. Look up Dr Solomon he has a book that gives you the answers. Usually you take 30 mls a day and then load up to 60mls a day over a month. You will feel benefits after about 3 months. It’s keeping me looking young, it’s helping my heart health, it’s an amazing ant inflammatory and great for pain. So many things it is good for but I swear it’s keeping me healthy. I have been drinking Noni for about 8 years now everyday. I actually like the taste now as I know the amazing benefits so it don’t taste bad to my brain. Just watch your potassium intake when drinking Noni. Don’t go eating loads of bananas with Noni and if you got blood issues with potassium don’t take Noni but apart from that your good to go. Only answered you as the other person didn’t.
