He said so in an interview, it's not even a front he likes anime, is making one, and filmed like he is showing one. It may be why korey didnt enjoy it as much, he's not as hip on the anime fight style of current shows since his most recent anime was chainsawman which is less modern and more past modern like next evolution of anime aka realism. Jordan seems to be going for that flash camera angles and so on say you'd see in what people today go for in a naruto/boruto or demon slayer. Just a guess. Its a style more live action and movies are using. Puss and boots did anime like fights too. People are kinda tired of the tv like fights that look so dry now. Watch some fights in a CW show to see what i mean vs the raid or heck even a few good fights in marvel's civil war film.

Is everyone forgetting the fact that his mom kept all the letters from him because she thought it would be best for him to forget him? Creed specifically said that his mom caused it and kept him from contacting hum. The movie totally ignores it and have creed take full responsibility after she dies. That's the only issue I have with the movie. If creed would of told him that and that she had a stroke and died over it, things more then likely would of went a differently.

GREAT MOVIE (but could have been EVEN BETTER in my opinion)
    1. The scene in the final boxing match where the crowd and referee disappeared and the background turned grey was SYMBOLIC. The literary term is ARTISTIC LICENSE, where things do not look or sound exactly as they would in a scene and SYMBOLISM is used to express emotions and ideas. The disappearance of all of the other people was to show that from their perspective ONLY the other person mattered, they only saw each other. The prison bars Adonis got knocked into represented the years his friend had been locked up and his emotions around that.
So as long as ARTISTIC LICENSE was being employed in that surreal scene you know what else might have been cool? If they had both morphed into their TEEN selves from 18 years earlier and the 2 actors who portrayed them as teens were the ones fighting for a minute or so of screen time. To show that their emotional state had regressed to their early lives. Maybe the teen actors were not skilled enough at boxing to have acted out such a scene convincingly? Even to pretend to do a sport in a movie an actor needs a degree of training and maybe the teen actors did not have it yet? Or maybe the script writers did not think of it?
    2. I think Damien should have been shown having several more fights where he successfully defended his title, winning with no more than minimal difficulty each time before facing Adonis in the final match. It could have maybe been a montage taking up only a few minutes of screen time much like Clubber Lang's string of victories in Rocky 3. He was only shown having ONE pro fight where he won the title and winning several consecutive title defenses would have helped to show that it was not just a fluke and he was not a "one hit wonder" and was the "real deal". It would have made him seem like even more of a danger and threat to Adonis. It also would have made me happier because I felt very sorry for him and I know that the world heavyweight champion gets several million dollars purse every time they successfully defend their title.
    3. I think the final fight did not get enough screen time. I know that they cannot show the entire thing in "real time" as that would be 3 quarters of an hour and with a movie that is only around 2 hours long it would not leave enough time to tell the rest of the story BUT I still would have liked at least a few more minutes of it. It felt a little too brief.
    4. A slightly happier ending for Damien. He was such a tragic villain. I felt so sad for him. Maybe something similar to Adrian in Rocky 1 where it turns out that the girlfriend he had in his home with him when he saw Adonis on TV was NOT just a gold digger tramp like she seemed and really did love him, maybe she runs up to him and gives him a big hug and kiss and tells him how proud of him she is or something. I left the theater very sad. I hope the character gets some kind of spinoff movie where he gets to be the protagonist.

The movie is solid, but their critiques are spot on. The CGI in the final fight almost took me out of it because of how obvious it was to make the crowd look big, and then they do THAT THING and I almost laughed. The plot points can be seen from space. They don’t tell you what TF Rocky is up to, and considering what happens in this movie, there’s no way he doesn’t call Rocky once. Having said that, I still had a good time and MBJ did a good job acting and directing. His relationship with his daughter in this movie is genuinely sweet and touching.

The absence of Rocky is bizarre. I think just a mention or something would help. He’s not dead so the fact that he’s just ignored totally is strange.
The “title shot” happened way too fast and Jonathan Majors skill set increased by 1000 too fast. I’m sorry but being older and I’m prison for 18 years matters in boxing.
The family dynamic is really amazing to see though. Told really well.
