I saw someone say Marvel shoulda recorded a bunch of random cameo scenes with Stan Lee as much as they could when he was alive. Because a lot of them it was just him talking to an extra or something. Hardly ever to any of the main cast members. So they could have say filmed like 30 scenes with him. Then just pick and choose which ones to use for future movies and drop them in accordinhgly.

@@darianlynch2687 MCU is overrated and they've meen slipping up this whole phase.
I'm not naive to pretend that DCU will overtake them but I feel they'll put up more of a fight with Gunn at the helm. Don't forget that the jokey/quip nature MCU was influenced by Whedon & Gunn though given Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad, I feel he'll bring that blend of humour and dark serious tones that he's capable of. I'm still a fan of his pre- MCU film, Super.
The Flash trailer actually seems pretty good. I hate Miller but Keaton was my favourite Batman and I'm hyped to see him dawn to cowl. It's still a carry over from the Snyderverse but Gunn said it was good.. but that's probably just PR speak. Well eventually see if he is right or just talking out of his ass.

It's another case of "never wear your helmet" when it comes to these superhero movies. Most superheroes in superhero movies almost never wear their masks or helmets, and I never understood that. There hasn't been a single Wolverine movie where Wolverine's actually worn his mask, for example. M.O.D.O.K. in this movie actually looked cool with that faceplate that was reminiscent of how he looks in the comics. But once they revealed it was just Yellowjacket in a different form and showed his actual face from that moment forward, he got very silly to look at very fast.

Its honestly sounding a lot like what I have been expecting. A lot of their gripes are the same ones I have with both other Ant-Man movies. Yeah, they are fun. Sometimes the comedy just keeps going and doesnt always get me. Honestly, I dont remember much about them other than I had an ok time watching them.
I didnt put much thought into it but, obviously it would have to be all on green screen. Didnt hit me until I saw Michael Douglas on the red carpet talk about how different it was having to film in it. Unless its done well, it will hold back the actors. Then it becomes a movie that looks, wonderous but not much substance.
Which then leads to Kang. It was weird seeing that he'd make his entrance in a Ant-Man movie. Im glad to hear though that he doesnt disappoint. I still love Marvel and get excited for everything new but I do find myself more and more missing the old crew. Right now there is no character like Iron Man, first Captain America etc that I cant wait to see again.

I big problem for me was the setting. Wasted potential. I had zero empathy or care for any of the background characters many were just faceless creatures we were supposed to sympathize for but I felt no connection. Not even to broccoli head man. The issue here is the production team had to make shit up because in reality, thats supposed to be the Microverse and theyre supposed to be the Micronauts but Disney refuse to work with Hasbro like they work with Universeal to get Hulk & Namor in the MCU as well as work with Sony to get Spider-Man in the MCU.
The Micronauts had a very special unique desgn that was linked to its toys because they were Japanese made.
The Micronauts were localized toys of Magnetic Robo Microman.
And Microman evolved from Henshin Cyborg toys which had evolved from imported G.I. Joe toys into Japan that toy company Takara had localized in Japan for Hasbro.
Then, Microman later evolved to Microchange and Diaclone, and from those we got the Transformers.
And ironically, Marvel Comics wrote the backstories for Micronauts, G.I. Joe and Transformers.
So basically G.I. Joe to Microman/Micronauts to Diaclone & Microchange to Transformers.
G.I. Joe indirectly created Micronauts and Transformers. Thats crazy.
And the Micronauts comic run often had run ins with Shield,, Avengers, Fantastic Four, etc
They were some epic stories back then. So they always had potential.
So what we get is some forgetable background filler characters with zero character depth.
Literally the Micronauts coulda been the next GotG type movie; or a better Eternals.
Because Marvel created that story long ago in their comic run and they even created a main villain that could stand next to Kang, Thanos, Dr. Doom, Galactus, Magneto and he looked like a Mazinger Z / Steel Jeeg / Cyborg Hakkaider mecha version of Darth Vader with black chain Rick James like dreadlocks lol. His name was Baron Karza.
But yeah MCU once again drop the ball. Putting Kang in an Ant-Man movie also undermines Kang himself; now he's defeated by a low level Avenger and that takes away from his first impression intimidation factor moving forward as the next big bad of the MCU. Oh wow Kang beat multiple Avengers; yet he lost to Ant-Man and some ants in under an hour.

Well, to be fair, another big issue with the MCU, besides not having a focused big bad, and I’ve had this problem with black panther and Wakanda forever (though, I enjoy those movies): is the fact that the real human world stays the same, no matter what happens in these movies. Does Wakanda take a more direct approach in the African-diaspora? We don’t know, outside of Princess Nakia, being a teacher in Haiti… we don’t see anything. In this world of magic Black people, super, powered aliens and gods, does America catch up with the rest of the world and get universal healthcare, Reconstruction/Reparations for AfricanAmericans etc etc? I’m just saying, the Earth & human society always remains the same (as if these beings don’t exist at all. Which removes the point of you even seeing these movies). And with all of these distant planets in the MCU, unlike Pandora in the avatar series (though I don’t like those films’ narratives or “symbolism”), we never stay on them long enough to feel attached to said worlds.

    • @nichescenes

To be fair the shows address it. Overall people consider super heroes cool and cosplay them. They are ok with she hulk walking around and think magic tricks are lame now that magic exist. Space travel needs to be addressed cause in real life if we heard ships exist that could do that we’d reengineer it. They seem to know time travel is possible as well. People in marvel seem to be branched off from our world and more comic like as in the things that freak us out and would end Society aka aliens existing evidence mean nothing to them.

This was Thor L&T all over again for me. A skeleton of story with some solid ideas, needing so much punching up
To me they clearly framed Janet and Kang having the relationship and the triangle with Hank not whoever Bill Murray was suppose to be (terrible unfunny cameo btw) and both of their arcs would've made much more sense and be relevant. I got the feeling they wanted to do the youth formula CGI with her in the flashbacks
Majors was solid, I thought he nailed the pompous, histrionic but ruthless nature of the character and those two post credit scenes are pretty cool.
Scott didn't really seem to have an arc and that was the biggest waste because I felt we could've gotten a solid dramedy from him a la Barry given the weight of the situation and/or his relationship with Cassie, because that little existential meltdown he had at the end was a good scene.
The quantum realm felt way too interchangeable with something out of GOTG or Star Wars and they really should've pushed for a unique look and then those people's struggle was an afterthought.
I felt if anything Cassie should've spent more time with them to establish them and William Jackson Harper was wasted in this

I despise when they do it because it's always from a personal view of "I don't have time to watch a 3 hour movie or all these episodes." It's so dumb, because you're right, when you get to spend more time exploring a character and the world they're in, it makes it so much more believable and easy to get lost In. It's one reason video games can be so successful, you spend 30 or more hours with these characters and exploring their worlds. Went and saw this Thursday. I dunno if I'm just tired of super hero movies or what, but I was bored, I didn't enjoy the movie. The actors all seemed bored and it was like they just went down a checklist to make the movie.
Maybe it's just me, I just couldn't sit through the whole thing. To me, it was no different from any other Marvel movie.
My biggest issue was the horrible inconsistencies with Kang's powers. He was blasting the redshirts and vaporizing them, he used that same exact power on Cassie, Scott, and Hope, and they're barely phased by it.
If powers can't be consistent, don't introduce them. If you don't want Kang one shotting the heroes with his disintegration powers, don't introduce them, and certainly don't show him disintegrating people seconds before he uses the same power on the heroes.
I think this is the first time I've agreed completely with Martin about a movie. I remember thinking, "Is Kang Voldemort, where if you say his name he shows up and kills you?".

For all the complaints "Wakanda Forever" received for being overly drawn out, I actually wish "Quantumania" had an extra 30 minutes or so itself. For a movie almost completely taking place in the Quantum Realm, I really didn't feel like I got to "live" in that world. The second the family gets there, they just step on the gas and move forward, never really allowing anything to set in, or even letting the characters themselves breathe. The character arcs established at the beginning of the film could've been something really interesting to play with, but ultimately those aren't really expanded on. With Scott kinda slumming it, being an author, and trading off his status as an Avenger, we really could've built to this great moment where he really is ready to make the ultimate sacrifice in the end. I was actually hoping that Scott & Hope remained stranded at the end of the movie; that would've been something different, and something that elevated its ending above not only its predecessors, but most other MCU movies. At the very least, the movie did a good job establishing Jonathan Majors' Kang (and his Variants) as a major threat moving forward. He was a force in this movie; hell, he felt like he was in another movie altogether. Majors and Michelle Pfeiffer were the MVPs of the movie for me personally. It's not a horrible movie; it's still enjoyable. But considering it was marketed as this major checkpoint in the Multiverse Saga, and the beginning of the next phase, the movie somehow felt both too ambitious, and yet too phoned in.

*When it comes to the comparison between Thor 4 and Ant Man 3..... Thor 4's issue, in my opinion, was that the comedy was so fast and so constant you didn't get time to develop the more serious moments and I can see how that would frustrate some people. In Ant-Man 3, they give you time to breathe in between comedic beats. And there are some heartfelt moments that are still funny, but they're not obnoxiously funny... They're adorably funny, especially between Scott and Cassie.
Jonathan majors absolutely steals the show with the scenes he's in, but It does not mean that the other actors aren't good in their roles. Jonathan is new blood, and we've already gotten to know the other Ant-Man cast. So of course he's really going to stand out, especially because he's such a good dramatic actor.
I do agree with the criticisms around Janet though. I think she was the biggest issue with the plot simply because everything could have been avoided if she had just been honest.

They should have just cut the MODOK character and saved him for something more serious. It makes sense that Darren Cross would be in the QR, but he didn't need to be MODOK or a laughing stock stooge. There's no reason to think this version of Kang as played by JM would ever have someone that goofy close to his inner circle.

To me this movie felt more like Tron legacy than Stars wars....It had similar plot points. Kang/Clu..He turned a realm that was meant to be his prison into his Kingdom. He's setting up the right pieces into motion so he can escape it....Bill Murray character/Zuse.....The flamboyant rebel that once fought with the resistance is now aligned himself with the enemy.....Scott and Cassie Lang /Kevin and Sam Flynn.....The over protective father over time had lost his will to fight. Also he has realized that the child he once knew is grown and capable of handling this on their own. Then there the rambunctious young adult that once idolized their father as a child. Due to unfortunately circumstances , the young adult has to grow up without their father for a period time. The young adult grew up to be rebellious and somewhat of a freedom fighter.... Only at the end, they realize that their father only wants the best for them and it still a lot they learn from him....Modok(Darren Cross)/ Tron......The antagonist brainwashed him to fight for his cause. Once he encountered the protagonist, he starts to remember who is once was. Then at the end, he helps protagonist in the fight against the antagonist. Hank Pym/Alan Bradley ...The surrogate father/ mentor to the young adult in the father's absence....Hope and Janet Van Dyne / Quorra.....She is the love interest , partner, and guide to the protagonist....The multi- verse transponder ( whatever Kang called it)/ Master Disc......The key that both the protagonist and antagonist fight for to escape the realm they are stuck in.........if I misspelled anything.... Sorry.....it's 2 in the morning

Likewise. As genuinely menacing as Kang may have been in this movie, I don't really see how they could possibly make him just as compelling as Thanos--if not more compelling than him--once they get to Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Thanos was written in such a way that people actually agree with his plan and regurgitate his dialogue to this day. And I just don't see the same thing happening with Kang.

I don’t understand the criticism of how Kang isn’t a threat compared to Thanos. If we were to consider Thanos a level 10 threat to the universe and the Avengers than even a 9, 8, or even a 7 would be incredibly dangerous still. Also was Thanos REALLY the most threatening? He only wiped half of life in OUR universe, he didn’t wipe out half the wipe across EVERY timeline. Kang can wipe out an entire timeline in which case EVERYONE dies. Also the Infinity stones mean nothing to Kang, we saw a bunch of them tucked away in a drawer at the TVA like they were some crystal hobbyist’s rock collection. Kang could prove to be an even greater threat cuz this is a villain who will always come back because it seems ALL the Kang’s are bent on multiverse domination. So even if the Avengers defeat one Kang there’s an infinite amount ready to take his place.

I can still handle the Marvel formula even more so now that Disney and Sony finally delivered us Mandarin and Carnage in Shang Chi and Venom 2 2 years ago and they came through with bringing back the previous Spider-Man movie actors along with Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Lizard (Rhys Ifans), and Electro (Jamie Foxx). DC, not likely after pulling the plug on Henry Cavill.

Well I liked the movie. I mean, there was one part where Michael Douglas started explaining how the ants that went through the portal into the Quantum Realm became "hyper-intelligent" and built advance civilizations was a bit corny, but still, I liked it. Still it does ad for questions...like how were these civilizations existing in this mini-universe this whole time? I mean, in prior Ant Man Movies, you didn't see others in the Quantum realm. Plus, it was indicated in Avenger movies that Quantum realm's space-time was different from our, yet at the end of this move, when the characters returned to San Francisco, it seemed like not much time had passed. Yet in end game, when Ant Man was in the Quantum realm for five hours, five years had passed due to the Blip, so yeah there were holes like that, but other than that it was good

At least I’m pretty sure they weren’t since they have they ability to grow large so couldn’t they have left at any moment? Plus they have plenty of those disks that they throw to make things enlarge, and I’m pretty sure that’s what Ant Man used to escape the quantum realm in the first movie.

The difference between comic fans who go to the shops on Wednesday compared to MCU stans is so odd. Comic fans have no issue eviscerating a series if it’s not living up to a character’s potential, like Zeb Well’s Spider-Man right now. But MCU Stans become incapable of criticism at times. Comic fans pointed out how Gorr was done dirty, especially compared to his plot in Saga of the God Butcher, and MCU Stans defended it constantly. You can point out how a film didn’t live up to its potential without saying other MCU films are mediocre.

They fail to see that criticism can actually be a good thing in the long run. It allows the product to grow and become better over time. If a company see's that they can put minimal effort into creating good art but will still be profitable they will continue to do so. It's the same problem we see with some AAA gaming studios lately.
