I love this movie. As corny as it is, imo, William Marshall was the ultimate Dracula. He had the look, the charm, and the horror element added to his character. He was basically Gary Old man's Dracula before there was one.
Gary Oldman basically is playing Blacula. A badass Prince watches his wife die gets cursed with being a vampire finds her centuries later in a strange land, and still loves her and she actually loves him. That’s not the story of Dracula, that’s the story of Blacula. Francis ford Coppola ripped off Blacula.
@@jpach7143 Bro thats the story of the original novel.
Now they have to do the sequel "Scream Blacula Scream".
Yes! Jordan Peele’s Blacula would be amazing.
I'm here for it
@@najwaflowers8038 Ha Ha! It would be amazing.
@@deforeestwright2469 hells yeah it would be.
Exploring his comedy roots I mean Kenu goes hard
The pimp hand was strong in blackula lmao 🤣
William Marshall was the best out of the movie, even if it was corny.
You should watch William Marshall's interview about the film, he speaks on how it was a Conscious effort on his part to play the role as dignified as possible because he didn't like how blaxplotion was portraying black society. Its quite interesting.🙂
Fun Fact: The gorgeous Actress”Ketty Lester” who portrayed the “female cab driver Juanita” also portrayed the great aunt Lucy on House Party 3 starring Kid & Play, with guest stars immature & also Bernie Mac as Uncle Vester
Damn, the worst house party 😂😂😂
@@salvambala7779 no that would be house party 2023
@@theghostshadow8855 oh yeah I rage quitted that one bro. It supposed to be erased from my memory
Hmm. New recruiting slogan for the LAPD:
"We're so damned scary vampires run from us."
'Mamuwalde' is still one of my favorite blaxploitation characters. Much respect for William Marshall...classy and smooth even with the fangs. 👍🏽
It’s a very good movie, but very funny nonetheless. I remember when my brother who was suffering from cancer and I watched this movie together on a late night. We enjoyed it tremendously and specially that line “that’s the rudest…..”
we were on the floor laughing but over all it’s a very good and meaningful movie disguised as a black exploitation movie, but that’s what makes it so great.
I hope your brother is doing well
Not it’s not a good movie it has good moments and funny scenes (a bit unintentional) but over all the film is pretty cheesy
William Marshall was the epitome of class. I love Blackula.
Always a pleasure to see Danielle. And the classic DT alumni.
I would love to hear y'alls thoughts on Blackenstein.
Oh! Haven't seen this
I thought it was terrible. That and another horror movie Wlliam Marshall was in called Abbie.
@@superfan931 Abbie was the exorcist with a black cast. In fact the lady who played Abbie guess stars in an episode of Sanford and Son as Lamont's runaway bride! Lol very hilarious episode!!!
@@SoulSir5vr I know what Abbie is, I seen it a few years ago, I'm just saying it's not good. I mainly remember that Marshall was an archeologist or something like that. He was the reason Abbie was possessed.
That was a terrible movie. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Smackula had me laughing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They should roast Toxic Avenger or part 2 lol.
Absolutely Toxie need one. I want this request to get pushed to the top
@44:57 I AM WEAAAK🤣🤣🤣🤣The dead silence, the " Bong" when it hits his head, the fact hes up there like Donkey Kong, Korey laughin so hard hes silent at first, its too much, this is a perfect movie for Double toasted along with CAts.
There’s going to be a Blacula remake and it’s going to be directed and co-written by Deon Taylor, the director of The Intruder… I really want to know how Korey feels about this since it’s one of his favorite movies 😂
I’m looking forward to it!
@Bushido Black Deon Taylor isn't bad. Traffik is a good movie.
@@percybedford6266 I haven’t seen it. I’ll probably check it out one day.
@@bushidoblvck_ yeah it has Omar Epps and Paula Patton.
It wasn't Vampire in Brooklyn
I’d love to see a DT review of Scream Blacula Scream next! So bad, but so good! 🧛🏿♂️ 😂 Also, if there’s a movie out there that’s due for a remake, Blacula’s the one - honestly, there’s a good film underneath all the Blaxploitation
I loved Scream, Blacula, Scream, because it paired Mr. Marshall with Pam Grier. And I agree about the remake. Tony Todd would make a smashing Prince Mamuwalde.
A reboot/sequel is on the books right now. As I understand the film will have Blacula revived in the 2020s. It will be a kind of remakequel.
Dracula is terrible for that comment 😭😂 8:32
Lmao 😂 9:18
That powerful slap! 10:50
Here comes the "gay stereotypes" 🌈👀🌈 17:04
That made my day lol 😂 28:21
Donkey Kong moment! 44:58
The slap is super effective! 46:31
But William Marshall will always be awesome! 💯
The fifth and sixth time stamp had me rolling (repeatedly)!
I wonder what happened to Dracula during the time the main character was in the coffin. Did Dracula get killed by Van Helsing after turning into a werewolf to defeat him?
He was killed by Van Helsing as stated by the man who sold the antiques to the interior decorators.
Don't forget about about the sequel "Scream Blacula, Scream!" That ones even more crazier lol.
Man I used to watch this movie so religiously.. Mamawalldy if that's how u spell it.. The scariest part I was scared of was the dead cab driver running towards the screen use to scary tf out of me.. Still a 7/10 movie to me
*Damn, y'all are still putting up with Daniel.* Bring back Goodwin.
I like Danielle but she usually adds nothing to these videos
I notice that too
You know who would have been a great guest, Brian Salisbury. That man loves Blaxploitation.
As bad as the movie is, the soundtrack to this film by Gene Page is actually quite amazing. Go listen to Main Chance. That song is great
i just watched The Harder They Fall, and your comments around 54min with the mortuary guy taking the call from Dr Thomas, reminded me of how Wiley Escoe is at his desk, giving his speech to Rufus Buck and it pans out to him just preparing and talking to an empty room. :D
When I saw what movie they reviewed in the thumbnail; I already heard Billy’s laugh
Much Love Gambine Billy's presence should mandatory on these types of videos lol.
You shall be called Blacula....along with the boo berries. I saw this as a kid but ya'll review had me dying I laughed the entire time. And the beginning had me crying Martin lost it on that CreditKarma bit.....the other part I spit my drink on was when somebody said...They call me Smackula.....hell naw
Danielle's commentary is top notch lol
❄️🐍
I love when talked about 70's movies had those trumpets and funky music when heplayed the scene when Blackula was chasing the woman and the funk music was playing Korey,Martin and Billy was moving feeling the groove of the funk band
You gotta do 1972 Gargoyles with Bernie Casey....
These reviews are hilarious man, this channel is criminally underrated should have millions of subscribers
😆🤣I'm gettin old as 💩!! I saw this for the first time as a Sunday Double feature at the famous/now defunct *York Square Cinema* here in New Haven, CT back in 79 with the sequel *Scream Blacula Scream*
OMG The actor who played the black cop was in an episode of All in the Family. He was fantastic in that!!!
Yep and he was also in the original Roots
Danielle is in the building...it's a full house😁
Gbenga Emuwawon And a full Blouse LOL !
And full of 🦝🦝🦝, including the two of you. Danielle come on the show to get her fame up and look down on these brothers and y'all gawking and dropping jaw. You would think you never saw a woman before
@@theconsciousobserver6829 exactly smh
51:12 Danelle fundamentally brakes as a person at this very moment
Remember , The main actor also played in a episode of Star Trek
@55:25. . .Well Danielle, it's in the works
"Handful of Jackson 5 afro." 😂
Aye yo that's Credit Karma and Blacula shot was funny as heck.
200 years later, he gets out the coffin, looking for a jar of Nivea xxx
I hope you will review Vampire in Brooklyn as well.
That would be dope
Shorty's outfit in that Rock the Boat video was 🔥
Historically speaking, the actual Vlad would've likely been very racist against brown people. His nation was on the frontline of the war against the Ottoman Empire. I love how Paul Cornell leans into that during his Captain Britain comic series.
Martin lost it at the beginning 🤣
Y'all gonna review "Scream, Blacula, Scream" starring Pam Grier?
Danielle do be looking FINE here, damn
I love "Blacula" and the second one with Pam Grier in it.
I love how Korey and the guys still talk about sex and stuff with the female in the room. That's keeping it real! It sucks when your friends try to act all proper when a girl is around. I love this show!
Korea?
@@lenindominguez1986 yup i know thanks
You should do a whole series of movie reviews on all the Blaxploitation movies from the 1970s. That would be fun.
As much as there are cheesy and terrible vampire movies, what I love about the metaphor of vampires is how incredibly malleable it is. I do credit this film has Count Dracula as not just the ultimate vampire, but the ultimate embodiment of white supremacy, slavery, colonialism, etc. It’s such a interesting metaphor that I will always see a movie that will have something appealing to it even with so many glut of shitty vampire movies. Hell, even “Dracula 2000” had Dracula as Judas!
Dracula 2000 is like my number 3 favorite of vampire movies 💕.
Dracula was based on Vlads the impeller. Who killed and drank the blood of his enemies ,the Moors who were black people. So there's more truth in this movie than most realise.
I always wanted to see a blacula vs dolemite crossover!
A movie I'd love to see today would be a live action version of jefferson twilight blacula hunter from the venture brothers "maybe starring michael jai white"
Hey Danielle, Gypsy Queen called. She said she wants her earrings back 🤣
I loved Blacula. But I came to hear y'all roast it, LoL 😂😆.
God I wish they would do truck turner
I haven't seen this movie nor do I feel like i need to now. I loved this review! I laughed my ass off. I was watching this while coding...I am sure i fucked the code up laughing so hard.
Double toasted need to review Wutang Clan Series on Hulu
I've never seen Blacula after hearing Korey & company talking about it I might go check it out not to mention I've always been curious about this movie.
This was a great one. Keep it up DT! Stay toasty!
Lol Im sorry but what exactly is danielles purpose there? She literally gives nothing to the discussion
Yo it's cool seeing Danielle back, it's been a while
My Momma had this VHS tape. It went along with the movie Car Wash.
A blacula someone call Jefferson Twilight from the order of the triad he can handle this. Edit: god I miss the Venture Bros.
Jefferson was such a good character from his back story to his dialogue, and it broke my heart to hear it got cancelled.
@@lenindominguez1986 Nothing officially but likely it had something to do with the Warner Bros deal.
@@lenindominguez1986 Well there is a movie in the works that will act as the conclusion to the show. So, I’m happy about that the only problem is they can only put so much in a movie runtime.
Love that cartoon!!
How come every bad movie review from Double Toasted is the funniest. 😂
I honestly can't name an unfunny one. l hope they do ghost dad
@@pheunithpsychic-watertype9881 they did lol
Charles Macauly is the most frightening Dracula beating out Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee. I like how we get the added element of Dracula as a racist. Speaking of "It's you who comes from the jungle" Hammer planned a Dracula film that would have had Dracula and Van Helsing in the jungles of India (Kali would be part of the plot) but Hammer was on the way out by that time and the film was never heard.
I’ve been ripping on the band in this movie for well over 30 years. Always thought that song was laughable, and the dancing was even worse. Didn’t know who they were or that they had legitimate cred. My bad.
Blacula was amazing. Scared the hell outta me as a kid. BUT, Scream Blacula Scream is the real crazy comedy yall need to review
From what I recall, the cops weren't as antagonistic to him from the Lt to the other beat cops, at least in this precinct to a black scientist. One of the pushbacks that stood out to me what when the Lt asked if it was the Panthers and Dr Thomas gave him that look. :) I wonder, is it because they know him, and it's the "other black folks" who are the problem? Maybe, the Lt wife' seemed pretty cool as well to have Dr Thomas' wife hang out while the boys went investigating.
One of the best bad films ever made in the 70s also loved the trailer
BLACKULA
DRACULAS SOUL BROTHER
There is a remake........... it's called Vampire In Brooklyn. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4:20 if you want to stop being sold stuff
Please do Movie roast of Man's Best Friend!!!
I wish the BLACULA franchise had gone beyond two films so that we could've seen BLACULA VS. HONKEYSTEIN: DAWN OF JIVE TURKEYS.
*STARRING*
William Marshall as BLACULA
Chuck Norris as HONKEYSTEIN
Fred Williamson as THE BLACK CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON
Jim Kelly as WOLF BRO
Redd Foxx as LEX LUTHOR
Pam Grier as WONDER SISTER
Directed by MELVIN VAN PEEBLES
Honestly with the sequel using voodoo I would probably put it in the same universe as Sugar Hill.
Now for the sequel. Blacula meets black dracula
They should make a Black Dynamite vs Blacula movie. 😁
surprised it wasn't Marlon Brando as Don Corleone with the phone call....."Are you ready to perform the service?"
Expert on Star Trek: TOS guest stars here: Rasulala was not in Star Trek TOS. Wiliiam Marshall was so was the guy who cursed him in the beginning of the movie.
A classic in my house
I finally saw this and the second one. It wasn’t as I thought it would be. There are parts of both don’t make sense, but it’s better than most blacksplotation films.
Please roast Eight Leg Freaks.
4:10 is the start of the review
William Marshall was in Star Trek: The Ultimate Computer. He was a scientist who went a bit nuts after his creation started killing people.
I remember him being The King if cartoons on peewee’s playhouse.
I loved this movie, especially Thalmus Rasulala (I love his name. RIP🙂)and Denise Nicholas’ hysterical ass. William Marshall (RIP) was Shakespearean in this silly but substantial film. 😆😆😆😆
Also Gordon Pinsent passed away
When are y’all gonna do the league of extraordinary gentlemen?
I like the detailed analysis they have about the movie, especially the beginning.
44:56 Blackula playin Cracker Barrel 🤣
My big brother and I love this movie we where not born during the time but we used to watch this during Halloween togher lol it's hilarious .. Superfly has one of the best soundtracks in a movie that's one of my favorite albums. I own a collection of old films just for the zangyness and music .
The Hues Corporation who sang Don't rock the boat and sings three songs in the club scenes, got a record contract from being in this film.
I love this movie!! William Marshall is so handsome. Favorite part? That taxi chick!!!
❤ this flick. Been a fan since I saw it on tv as a kid in the 70's. I think its a romantic flick too.
I would like to see Double Toasted review Vampire in Brooklyn
Do y'all just have her there to smell her?😂at least give her a 🎤
Blackula was not just a Blaxploitation movie. it was pretty much a grindhouse movie. back then, grindhouse movies were really low budget independent movies you normally don't see in most mainstream theaters back in the late 60's, 70's, and early 80's when grindhouse moves were getting phased out in favor of home video and cable.
Thalmus Rasulala played the detective in Blacula and the police chief in New Jack City.
Yeah theres alot of familiar actors Blacula.
DT gives the best roast commentary.
There is a Blaxploitation movie titled "Ghetto Movies" or Movies from the Ghetto, please roast it guys. It is from the 70s i think and the cast are former professional football players.
Loved this review!!!!!
Do The Warriors!
Is anybody interested in the review of 1999’s Marvel’s BLADE? I need that review here plus Wesley Snipes is my #1 action actor.
Did they not mention on the show that there was a sequel?
