But the philosophies of Shankara and Madhva are diametrically opposite. Shankara is an absolute non-dualist and propounded the theory of Maya. Madhva is a dualist, a devotionalist and a Vaishnavite. How can you consider both to be your masters?

@@tejas.c There is nothing wrong in studying both Philosophies and consider each of them as masters. Each of philosopy are the experiences of each saint/acharyas. Each wrote their bhasyas based on their experience in life and travel and understanding. Mr Arif can study even Ramanujacharya's philosophy. Ramunjacharya who was a Advaita student (of Shankaracharya) had differing views. It seems he disagreed even with a Vaishnava Guru on certain interpretations. He disagreed with some Shankaracharya’s Advaita interpretations and propounded the Vishishtadvaita philosophy based on his interpretations of Vedas and shastras obviously causing displeasure among Advaita followers. After studying each of them, it is possible, he may agree any philosophy or may not like any of these interpretations, or he may like blend of two of more philosophies.
Kannada Philosopher Padmashri Bannanje Govindacharya, who on his own admittance was once an atheist, studied Shankara, Madhva and Ramanujacharya, but, however considers personally Madhavacharya's interpretations most reasonable .
I dont think all these Acharyas have differing views on everything in shastras. Only certain points like Maya, duality is where they differ and maybe some a few other concepts.
Sankaracharya and Mandana Mishra disagreed on some aspects in shastras. Ancient India has been a great place encouraging debates. Thats how vast knowledge grew and great universities existed in India. Debates and Questions from the time of Ashtavakra in Janaka's royal assembly to time of Sankaracharya against Mandana Mishra and Mandana's wife also!. Mandana Mishra later became a shishya of Sankaracharya.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has different views on Hindu philosophy although admittedly he has not studied Indian scriptures and does not endorse any religion. When Indians themselves from yore have had wide disagreements on various Hindu cultures and have been living with more or less tolerant manner, it should not be a problem in having another set of views from another person like Sheldon Pollock however intolerant it maybe. There have been differing interpretations of our own scriptures in our own country.
SriRama's family preceptor was Sage Vasishta. But later, on the advice of Vasista himself Rama learnt many things from Sage Vishvamitra. During the exile, Rama in Ramayana and the Pandavas in the Mahabharata learnt from many sages in the forest.

Its a pity. Yet we in india cannot find a sanskrit graduate or post graduate course. The seculars and islamists object to it. Muslims have considered speaking sanskrit or words from sankrit as blasphemy from their prophet and allah. SO LINGUISTICS CLASSIFY SANSKRIT NOT AS ANCIENT AS TAMIL. TAMIL IS THE FIRST LANGUAGE OF INDIA. Recent excavations in Keeladi in Tamil Nadu found an urban city similar to indus valley and the mud pots and gold bars have Tamil name written old Tamil script and carbon dated as 300to500 BC..AMONG 60000 INCRIPTIONS RECODRDED BY ASI 45000 ARE IN TAMIL. ASHOKA INCRIPTION OF 300BC DOES NOT HAVE SANSKRIT. THE EARLIEST SANSCRIPT WAS FOUND IN INSIA IS 400AD AND THAT TOO IN MAHAVALIPURAM IN TAMIL NADU. Sanskrit is younger to Tamil. I'm very curious about Sanskrit. However, I found this talk to be surprisingly devoid of any content. We already know that Sanskrit is Indo-European, so the whole introduction about similarities with Latin and ancient Greek is not surprising. Then the speaker goes on to repeat how perfect the grammar is, and great it is, and never shows any example of it.
Finally, all the advantages he claims there are to learning Sanskrit are really advantages to learning any language with complex grammar, such as Latin, Greek, or Russian.
So, although I'm still curious about Sanskrit, I didn't learn one single thing from this talk, as much as I appreciate and respect the enthusiasm of the speaker.

People tend to confound Sanskrit and Vedic language. Here is a anecdot with Kanchi Maha Periyava: The Oldest Language in the World
When I went to the Kanchi Mutt to have the darshan of Sri Maha Periyava, there were four foreigners there, an Israeli, an Italian, a German and a British. They had come to do their PhD in Philology on the topic of 'the most ancient languages in the Occidental and the Oriental world'. They were studying Latin, Hebrew and Greek languages in the Occidental part and Sanskrit and Tamil in the Oriental part.
Maha Periyava was in his private quarters, performing His Nithya Karma Anushtanas and elaborate poojas; they had waited and desired to take a photo of Him but His kaingaryams refused permission. They were heartbroken that they could not take a picture. All the four of them were standing near a tree since morning waiting for Periyava to finish his poojas and give darshan. They asked His sevakas when He would be done with the poojas but got an unconvincing reply.
I told the foreigners that we Indians are used to the way of life at the Mutt, but how had they all been standing for the past 6 hours? One of them looked at his watch and exclaimed, “Oh my God, has it been 6 hours? He is a Man of Certainty and is Beyond Time!”
Maha Periyava came in after 10 minutes and we all went and prostrated before Him. Looking at the man (who had the camera hanging around his neck) who had wanted to take the photos, He gestured with His hands that he could take the pictures now. He posed for three photos and stopped him before taking the fourth.
''Why have you all come here and what is the purpose of your visit? ", asked Periyava.
''We have visited many places regarding our research on the most ancient language''.
Periyava asked, "So, did you arrive at a conclusion as to which is the most ancient language?"
The Israeli replied, "Hebrew is the most ancient in the Occident; but in the Oriental, people say that both Sanskrit and Tamil are the oldest, but we are confused and that is why we are here for Your opinion".
Periyava said, "There is another language which is more ancient than all these, it is the Vedic Language. It is the source of even Sanskrit and Hebrew."
"There is a verse about rebirth in Hebrew, can you recite it completely?" asked Periyava to the Israeli by giving the man the first two words.
The Israeli recited it for 3 to 4 minutes. Periyava looked around and asked some boys, “You have all learnt Rig Veda, can you recite this particular verse? He suggested some mantras to the boys."
Those boys recited the Veda Mantras for 5 minutes.
Periyava then addressed the Israeli ''Did you understand what these boys recited now?"
    The four men remained quiet.
Maha Periyava smiled and turned to the boys and said "You all will definitely not understand what this man had recited in Hebrew!"
He then turned to the Israeli and said, "What you have chanted before is the same as what these boys have chanted!"
The 4 foreigners were stunned and did not know how to respond. Maha Periyava told them that he could prove it and asked for a paper and a pen.
"In Vedas it is mentioned that the world has been classified into 32 portions/regions. And in each of the 32 geographic regions, Vedas say how the Veda Aksharas have changed/got pronounced in those places!"
He asked each of them which region they came from and then explained to them how a particular Veda Aksharam got changed in their individual places! He asked the boys to recite a verse from Rig Veda again and told the men how each Aksharam in Rig Veda in that verse would sound in their Regions!
The Sarveshwaran then said, "I will now recite this verse with some difficulty as it has been a long time since I had Abhyasam and the Mahan started to chant the mantra slowly, slightly differing from the basic shloka aksharam so that it matched how it would sound in Hebrew. After he recited the aksharams he asked the Israeli if he understood the recital of the mantra and aksharam and observed any familiarity.
To the boys who recited the Vedas, He said, "I will now recite it in a slightly different form based on how each Aksharam will sound in Hebrew. Please do not think it is wrong; there is this injunction in the Vedas that it can be recited this way also."
To everybody's astonishment and surprise, the Israeli started to recite in Hebrew what Maha Periyava exactly chanted- the aksharas in a modified form, as it resembled the Hebrew language. The Israeli therefore chanted it together with Him!!!
    We were all stunned!!!
After this demonstration Maha Periyava addressed everyone assembled there, "I told you earlier, the same verse in Rig Veda is present ditto in Hebrew, but the Aksharas have changed slightly. (As we say Yamuna but in the North it is Jamuna, Va in the south is Ba in West Bengal, Paa in Tamil is Haa in Kannada etc). Therefore, the most ancient language in the world is the Vedic language!"
Maha Periyava then asked for paper and pen to be supplied to the four men in order to prepare a table and fill it with how the Rig Veda Aksharams sounded in their language. This was completed in 15 minutes.
The Israeli was shocked and exclaimed, "This is something unimaginable!"
Periyava asked him, "What do you think now, do you now agree that everything has sprung from Vedas?"
The look on the Israeli’s face was not convincing.
Periyava quipped, "What, Are you thinking why could Vedas not have originated from Hebrew?"
The man said, "Yes, it could have been the reverse also, the Vedas could have come from Hebrew".
Periyava replied smilingly, "You only have the lock, whereas we have both the key and the lock! It is even mentioned in the Vedas as to which Maharishi from here in India went to your region and spread/taught Vedas in Israel!"
The man was fully convinced in the end that the Vedic language is indeed the oldest and the most time honoured.
(Translated from Thiruvannamalai Shri Gowrishankar's Tamil video interview)
Compiled by Jagadguru Sri Maha Periyava - Kanchi Paramacharya/Fb

Thank you for that story. Most interesting. Now, please tie the claim of original Vedic language to tribal speech in Australia (where there are some 200 languages over 40,000 years old), South Africa (Xhosa), Tierra Del Fuego, Iceland, Druidic, Egyptian, Native American. Did Vedic linguistic ambassadors teach all these people as well??? This is both a serious and sceptical challenge.

Don't know that Tamil is the mother of all languages, but mother to the word Sankrit itself..
    Etymology of Sanskrit
    Sanskrit = Sans + Krit
    Sans < Sams < Samas < Samans < Saman < Samam (Refined)
"Krit" which is the root for "Script" (Writting)
    Krit < Krith < Kirith < Kiruth < Kiruthu < Kiruku < Kirukal < கிறுக்கல் < கிறு + கல் < கீறு + கல் (கல்லில் கீறுவது - scribbling on rock - writing on rock/stone)
    கீறு < கீற் / கீர் / கிர் - it is the sound produced when we scribble on stone.
Sanskrit = Samam+Kirukku = Refined script (of Prakrit language). Prakrit is the spoken language, whereas Sanskrit created for religious/scientific language.

I was born in central India, Chhattisgarh. I pursued my undergrad in Karnataka, which was the best decision of my life. I found out that South Indian languages originated from the Dravidian culture which is very similar to Sanskrit when you listen carefully. Though there are some differences in simple day-to-day communication, when you read and understand their proper artistic writing, you’ll notice this. Moreover, they have kept the culture more alive than the North Indians. Their way of cooking, dressing and architecture is still simple and preserved form of ancient India. All in all, we are all Indians and if we can just preserve this culture through art as a whole, rather than just status, it’ll be great. We don’t need advanced technology, we live in the best part of the world. We just need good politics, art and culture.

And along with that the sounds of the the language are chosen in such a manner so that the heights of the human potential to make sounds can be reached.
