Hats off to anyone who is working with the newer vehicles and thin sheet metal not to mention needing to be a contortionist to access certain areas. That fender came out well considering the level of damage prior. Since the lock down due to the virus, I have been working on bodywork on my 64 using a hybrid of techniques to work out creases, dents and some rust repair. Most of the metal thickness is 19 gauge which is like comparing the strength of a manhole cover vs a coke can for the newer vehicles. The glue tabs and a couple of pdr rods I made have eliminated needing 6ft long arms to reach areas inside a panel. The hammer and dollies have their uses for the need paint afterwards scenario but the evolution of the pdr tools makes life far easier imo in many ways. Great to see your video highlighting key points about movement elsewhere that can create bigger problems like near the marker light.
As a profession collision expert and award winning painter, I’m happy to see how far PDR has evolved.. even if it needs paint afterwards it’s far far better than all the costs and expenses of materials and time prior to paint. When I know for a fact that the panel will need paint for what ever reason, I PDR my way through it and leave it with a skin coat of body filler and blend my way out of it when I perform the paint job. I just wish actual bodymen would at LEAST invest in PDR tools and learn the trade too and back off the body filler and primer and all that mess. Times are changing... there’s more painters doing PDR than there are bodymen picking up PDR. Nice job.
Dent Time - San Diego Dent & Bumper Repair .... You know what it is, a painter can see through pdr bcs they are at the finishing end of the product... a bodyman doesn’t see the finished product when he sees a dent so they don’t know what to look for .
What I’ve learned most about this trade over my life you can promote all these products. My best memories of this trade sitting there in the 90’s with non of this advanced technology. It was simply a man his cheap craftsman hammer and a father who I enjoyed all my memories with. Show me where you get 1500 for a repair: do not lose you’re roots: a craftsman never blames his tools
I wouldn't have tried it, simply because of the cleanup work. It still could've used a couple more hours, personally. Hard to get that kind of money for the time. Awesome channel
Thanks but what do you mean hard to get that kind of money? Are you using a professional price guide and comparing to a body shop? I have two types of customers. Ones that are fine with not 100% and others that are willing to pay premium for back to pre-accident repairs. It’s not up to me to decide which customer they are. I let them choose but without underselling my value. And just because a customer can’t afford it won’t make my job any easier.
I’ve been doing PDR for 4 years and that Malibu repair… whoa! Beyond impressed! The difficulty of this repair is probably a 20 on a scale from 1-10! Great job!
I'm just starting up doing PDR repair. And I was wondering what tools do I need to begin? If you can make a video with what tools does a beginner PDR technician need. I appreciate you guys and your videos
I do all that. It’s on denttrainer..com where you’ll see more organized and categorized tutorials with tool discounts as well. Check it out. Thank you.
That depends if you want a quality repair or not? The fenders actually cheap the labor and paint is the expensive part plus keep in mind it’s not going to match if you just repaint or replace that fender you have to repaint the entire hood bumper indoor just to get it to match correctly and that’s where it gets super expensive specially if you want it done right.
That is true always depend on the car and what the client wants at the end of the day. I am myself a private car painter for dealers and I can tell you that most of the time in retail companies do not care about color match but for the owners it matters a lot!
voodoo blacksharbour it is very common. Next time you look around in a parking lot.. you’ll notice lots of big dents in cars that don’t have paint damage at all.
Funny .. someone doored my car last week. 3-4” dent and lots of paint transfer from other car. I polished the paint transfer away and my paint was near perfect.. only a single 1” deeper scratch. Ive marred my paint with a car wash brush 😂
Wish I can get you to pdr my quarter. Had a huge dent and used a plunger lol. It moved some metal but I believe it created many more smaller dents. I've got some tools to attempt to do it right(ish). I had some pdr guy who told me I'll probably need to knock that big dent back which was like 12x12 roughly. Should I knock it back in? Thank!
In the end it seems like the silver car with the fender damage would have been better off going to a conventional body / paint shop for repair ---jmo of course
Two things. I’m showing the capabilities of PDR. Second, many people don’t want to lose their factory paint/panel and all the hassles they go along with it like carfax reports. PDR is getting better and better and soon there will be another standard name called “paintless collision repair” .. mark my words. 😉
Awesome job, could you please answer a question, it's my understanding that some of these dents could be corrected pouring hot water, which in turn could correct the dent, instead of going through all the usual body work.
Fortunately that is absolutely a myth. Metal that is that damaged and stretched has not even the slightest chance to be fixed using that unproven method. That is why I am showing the public how involved this procedure is.
I've been watching your videos for some time now and I wonder if you know anyone in the Houston TX area that is reputable PDR company that I can take a show car to? Thanks and keep up the good work!
The format of your video (type of IG Video) is not good for RUclips format as the rest of the video after time 2:37. Thanks for your great video content
Because It took me years to learn, money invested in the training, video gear and time to make it. However, we have a structured online PDR course you can watch all the details and step by step process on denttrainer.com 😉 Thanks for watching. 👊

Hey go back To the 90’s you have a few tools to use with a self made camping light with you plug into the cigarette lighter. You made your own fog in your garage with your own spray paint. I challenge you would you be able to use the tools you came from and not promote all These tools people try to make money from?
What is the point of trying to PDR that... I admire your effort and you got it 60% .. But still looks tragic! You guys are trying to hard.. PDR has limits!!
The point is PDR is getting better and better. Most jobs come out flawless. Some don’t. And another point is MOST people who understand replacing a panel is more involving than that. 3-5 years from now this will be very common to do dents like this for more money than a body shop undetected. And you’re comment saying it looks tragic is BS. I think you’re in the body shop business yourself and your fearful PDR is taking work away from your industry. Am I right?
@@denttime Agree ! In bodyshop business myself, much rather give the client a PDR job, retain OE panels, rather than fitting new parts, colouristics, blending, polishing and... and.... Our PDR guy = our Shop's best asset and friend.

Ive been doing bodywork collision repair 24 years
Love it. I just did some door dents with hot glue . Amazing results for first time
Thanks for letting us in on this repair Myke, that thing was CRUNCHY!!!
You smoothed it very well, it turned out great (I am your colleague in Iran
Right proper metal work and vision
I'm very late to the game.. this stuff is gold guys 👌👌👌
Appreciate it.

Amazing skill and talent its almost magic!thank you
Super work Myke and Jon! Thanks for showing the process and the tools that were critical to making the work possible.
You’re welcome Lee. Thank you. 👊
I am from India. I live your work.
95% done but still a very good job.
Brilliant work Uncle Myke
Thanks Kam
Super work
nice work
Should you be heating the paint to prevent chips and cracks?
Amazing!
Very nice job👍
How is the cost estimated? The severity of the dent, size, etc.
Great work guys
Thank you 🙏
Where did you get the pogo stick ? Thanks
I added on the description but Carbon Tech PDR Tools
Explain what the lines have over the fog
Very impressive work on those cars!
Why when your glue pulling out the deep dent with the pogo stick, why aren’t you tapping down the crowns at the same time?
what make of pogo stick are you using
Because there is more than one way to skin a cat 😉
Great video I'm no mechanic or body man . Just a regular car guy whole loves everything about cars . Great video and content 👍
The first video I see from your channel. Very nice tools. I didn't know there were so many tools for this kind of job.
Pogo stick basically a cargo pull?
smoother than orange peel

What dent dial would you recommend to buy first light or heavy
I recommend the 22 light.
Perfeito, mágico, todos dariam seu carro em suas mãos. Parabéns!!!!!!!
Mas zuo um pouco a pintura da pra ver na ponta do vinco . Mas o trampo foi top msm
Well done.

Really like your work. How do I get started in this work? John in Austin TX.
Great work guys! That was one nasty dent!
What's the name of the yellow bar you are using? Looks like an awesome tool
Just wondering! How did you get so much damage without scratching the paint?
voodoo blacksharbour it is very common. Next time you look around in a parking lot.. you’ll notice lots of big dents in cars that don’t have paint damage at all.
Most likely from a kick or a non abrasive object/ person being slammed into it.
Funny .. someone doored my car last week. 3-4” dent and lots of paint transfer from other car. I polished the paint transfer away and my paint was near perfect.. only a single 1” deeper scratch. Ive marred my paint with a car wash brush 😂

David just hire a professional or you’re going to pay way more. 😉
Nice work Just wondering why there is no paint damage on these dents ??
That's why we call it "paintless" because dents like this on impact didn't need any paint work.
How do you get a dent like that without paint damage I’ve seen PDR work on hail damage but to bend a crease like that ??
Super boss dent
At 2:17, the old trick of "Bend it to make it fit more better".
A+ !!
I would like to buy
Bodylines take the touch
Milagro!!!
great patience, make great talent.
How can I get to be your student
Where can I get the yellow tool you attached the leather to?
Myke is the Keco large metal flat tip with leather you were using the slapper? Or is that a new one
It’s a tip I made in conjunction with Keco.
At what point is it just easier to just paint a new guard?
Hi Myke, how can I sign in in a personal hands-on training?
Dm me on instagram.com/denttime please thx
this is done simply)))
the tool is so complicated - probably not needed here) excellent result

Yes. Dentlion.com ask for Jason.
I would have just replaced it as it looked unrepairable at first glance. London, uk
Where are you guys located?
North county San Diego. (Escondido)

Dent defenders they are called.

We start at $175 for a 1 inch dent.

Yes I’m aware.. however I’m sure you rather see the any footage that was related to the repair than none. 😉 Thanks for watching. Appreciate it. 👊
Молодцы

wouldn't something like this be more expensive than just getting a new guard?
PDR isn’t always cheaper.. it’s just always better. 😉

what did you charge for this? Ballpark number?
$700-900 out of pocket, $1100+ going through insurance.
Still needs paint with all those major scratches in the base coat
Good pull though
👍👍
I challenge you to pull a deep dent with a fog with basic tools and not promote anyone
Shame you couldn't turn your phone around!? Lost most of much of the frame :(

It would have been better if you preheated it a little bit
Not in my shop where it’s already hot. But to answer your question heat doesn’t hurt at all. 👍
