    I live in the desert in Arizona. Many rivers and washes have deep bed of sand and gravel, so water actually flows beneath the surface. That's how quicksand occurs. So, the Colorado River possibly does flow to the delta, but below the visible surface of the bed.

    To add to your story, I travel to San Felipe many times a year and drive through this location. The cemented portion is in CA, not far from Yuma. Interesting point, the Feds had to add floating ropes across the cemented areas because it is impossible to exit the canal due to the slope and slimy cement walls. Now you know, the rest of the story, Good Day!

    Good vid Sarah. The Colorado River irrigates 500 thousand acres of Imperial Valley Farm Land (Imperial County) that provides 75-80% of our Nations Winter Vegetable Crops and the same for Feed at The Cattle Feed Lots. The "All American Canal" ends at the U.S. / Mexico Border, "Southwestern Desert Edge" and feeds The Imperial Valley through 3 Main Canals running north from "The All American". The East Highline, The Central Main and The West Main" with Lateral Canals Branching off of those to irrigate the fields. Again, all water flow is by Gravity, running south to the north. The All American Canal at the U.S. / Mexico Border, is approx "Sea Level" and North at The Salton Sea, it is approx 230 feet below Seal Level. Truly a marvel of Nature and Human Engineering to Feed America,

    During the Colorado River Flood of 1983, the Laguna Salada, a normally dry lakebed between Mexicali and San Felipe, was flooded for a couple of years after they intentionally flooded the entire river downstream of Powell and Hoover Dam. Glen Canyon dam came very close to failing, and they had to use the Hoover Dam spillways (which I got to witness, pretty awesome!) for the second, and only other time in history. I was making regular trips to San Felipe and got to see the lake down there, it was on both sides of the highway and it stretched to the horizon on both sides.

    Peter Santenello's channel has a great series on the border situation. In the majority of places, the walls are well on the US side and is not the actual border. All Presidents have installed pieces. The walls have gaps to funnels folks to more safe places to cross but most are customers of Mexican cartels. There are two types of crossers, the give-ups and the criminals. The give-ups actually cross and then wait for border control and some actually call 911 themselves. Once the authorities are busy with the diversion of families being processed, the criminals cross someplace else. Peter's episodes visit different areas and highlight how different the circumstances are. The potapoties were installed to keep people from going in the human consumption food crops and contaminating it.

    The water allocations were calculated during an unusually wet period in western American history. The “drought” always peaks the news reports, but in reality it is business as usual.
    The Coachella Valley sat on one of the largest natural aquifers in the world from runoff from Mt San Jacinto and Mt San Gorgonio. The local tribes have tried to protect it, but it is being squandered as well. Then someone approved Nestle to build a water-bottling plant to bottle it up and ship it around the world. Now the aquifer has to be replenished with the help of the All American Canal.
    Thanks for the tour, Sarah! Would love to show you around The Valley some time❣️

    Well I finally got through it and reading the comments, being from California I already knew all this. Great boarder wall and I wish there was more, now that we are no longer in a drought there is more water than we can handle unfortunately. We have flooding in the valley and it even shut down Hwy 99 last week, I could not get to my appointment at the VA. All I can say about all this water is that it all was Dinosaur Piss at one time.😵‍💫🤣🤣🤣🤣 Another great vid Sarah, hopefully we can get someone who can get California back on track, we need a governor who knows how to get the job done, too much crime an entitlement here. 👍❤️🇺🇸

    Colin Fletcher spent a lot of time in and around the Colorado River. He (and others) consider the headwaters of the “Green” River as the true beginning of this river. Check out his book “River”. He travels the full length. The course *does* re-emerge further south. The official designation of the souce being in the state of Colorado was a political move.

    I swam in that canal many times, on a concrete style aqueduct/canal, used to tie a long rope onto the jeep and had a ball in the 110 degree weather. Caught a lot of catfish too. :)

    Thanks for the upload, I do enjoy watching your videos, and I can tell you put much effort into each one, such as this one which you had to do a lot of researching into for so much info. Cheers Sarah, 🥂you're such a little cutie with a big wonderful personality. 🤗

    Wonderhussy;
    that was exceptionally good! I hope at some time you may venture south to see where the water actually goes underground & disappears. Made me teary eyed . . .

    Love beginnings and ends. Largest and smallest things. Thanks for this video. When I was in high school we went water skiing on a Distributary of the Colorado in Baja called the Rio Hardy. Wonder if it even has water anymore?
