I decluttered my whole make up collection. It was an insane amount of products that I had.... You wouldn't even believe how old some of these were. Personally, for me, it was about my hard earned money being spent and then thrown away because the products expired. Lol. So now, I only buy when I'm actually done with a product and need it. Also make sure to rotate my make up so I can try and get an even use of everything

I hate to admit this, but I just recently (maybe 6 months) just discovered the makeup community and I’m hooked! Previous to that the makeup I was using was shockingly old!!! I was using a L’Oréal eyeshadow palette that was at LEAST 10 years old !!! 😱🤗
that's a good way to make sure you don't spend a lot of money on makeup... I wish I could do that lol

I live for brush declutters. Nobody ever talks about them but I love hearing about crappy brushes. It’s so hard to explain why brushes aren’t good, but it’s so important to have good tools!
Decluttering is the best feeling. I just did my whole house over the last two weeks! My house feels so much better and I don't feel as overwhelmed! My head is clearer and my house is so clean and easy to keep that way. I organized every closet on top of it. Love it! Been binge watching organizing and cleaning vids... they help a ton!

flowerpony2 Yes but I want to know why 1 is her favorite over the other. Like when it comes down to the blush brushes I like one that doesn't apply too much and blend seamlessly. That might not be the same for others!

Silvia Gonzalez Yeah, I commented, too! I got my purple RT sponges from a kit that contains 2 regular Real Techniques sponges, a funny-shaped one, and the two purple babies. It was expensive (to me), but worth it.
Personally I couldn't imagine throwing any Real techniques brushes and sponges. Unless they're at the point of needing to go in the bin!

Mia Vukic In my country it is hard to find brushes at all...just Mac or Bobby Brown, And Overpriced in all stores... THAT IS until I discovered Aliexpress. NOW I have a giant collection but it is hit and miss, so one have to be diligent and decide before buy
Your declutter videos are my absolute fave!!! I do prefer when you have the camera fixed/on a tripod, it gives me a headache when it's not still.
I am the type of person that I declutter a lot of things, except not for brushes because I hate washing them so I like to have 50,000 so I always have clean brushes on hand 😂 I am such a stickler for always using a clean brush, so I use each brush only once before I wash it but I have so many I only wash them like once a month. I was proud of myself for washing them today though!
Katherine Elizabeth Brenner I am the same way:) I hate using an eye brush that's not completely clean, so I clean them after every use.
It's 3 AM here in Saudi Arabia but who needs sleep! Jess just put up a declutter video! #expatproblems

You know what I love most about your decluttering videos? How encouraging you are to yourself. You're always like, "Yes, good job Jess." It's so nice to hear what's basically an internal monologue that's so positive. Good job, Jess :-)
One of the most satisfying feelings is seeing things de-cluttered and removing excess items out of your home. I married a hoarder (not really but sort of) and over time I have had to just set time aside and go through things and ask "does this make you/us happy) He was shocked at the unnecessary things he/we had. There is a joy also that comes from giving things away to others who actually need what you no longer do.
Watching your declutter videos has been helping keep me motivated to declutter my home. My husband definitely got in the mindset before me. But we are enjoying getting rid of stuff and having a more realistic set of stuff.
Your declutter videos are so relaxing because it's so hard to let go of things, and so freeing to get rid of things to streamline and clear up your life. Very inspiring. One day I'll have a bunch of brushes to declutter....

You did awesome! I love makeup brushes and have a hard time letting them go but slowly I’ve been getting rid of the ones I don’t use/like. These types of videos help me get rid of the items I don’t need and keep the things I like.

I have given some of my brushes to family in the past but I love makeup brushes and find that this is the hardest thing in the world for me to declutter. I find myself always looking at more brushes. I am such a brush snob, not having to do with price but with quality and if I hoard any makeup item, it is brushes. You are my hero. LOL

I was looking at my brushes the other day thinking, "Wow, I have alot" but I never thought about decluttering them. Until now. I have 3 nieces who are going to be very happy. I've already given them a ton of makeup.

Jess!!! Don't throw away the flat foundation brushes. You can use them to apply masks and creams from a jar and not stick your hands on them.
jackiepmarks I totally forgot about this!!! I have a lot of brushes and at least five paddle foundation brushes that I never use because I don’t like the application. I’ve know about the fact that I can use them for face masks but didn’t remember to put them aside for that actual use. Lol so thanks for reminding me. I always think I need a good mask brush yet never remember that I already have a ton! Lol so thanks for the great idea.

I actually use a paddle brush for that. also elf has a silicone one for masks

This past year I declutter makeup, sponges, and brushes. It's nice to have what I need and use. I would like to declutter more but I will come back to for the new year.

I decluttered brushes and sponges over the weekend and it felt so amazing! I had to do about three passes through it because I was holding onto stuff I didn’t need to. This video would have been so motivating before, but at least I can see I share in your struggles!

Dual ended are good for travel and purse touchups so I tend to keep those. The Mac 275 I didn't use til I figure out HOW to use it. I point the tip into crease and short side up toward brow and in ONE swipe, transition color is DONE. I love that brush.
I don't mind having multiples of brush types so I can have one in my travel set ready for travel, ones for touch-up in my purse, one by the vanity, and a backup in case the other is dirty or lost. LOL I love brushes!
Try to keep a reg size and a shorter size version of things so you can pack the shorter ones for travel. You travel a lot so make a travel set that just stays at the ready for travel so you never have to accidentally forget a spoolie or something.

We mad a big mov from Seattle to San Antonio and went through every cupboard and closet and we were able to purge SO much stuff. We had a one day garage sale and then donated everything else to Goodwill. It felt so good when we packed to not have so much extra junk. I am somewhat sentimental about certain things. I have a small box with my stuffed animals from my child hood that I don’t feel like I can get rid of (yet). And there is a box of our only son’s handmade baby blankets and a box of his special projects and artwork from school that would be hard to get rid of.
The one room in our home that needs to be decluttered is my craft room. I have so much quilt fabric and scrapbooking supplies I just need to get rid of. Maybe I can do that this winter when it is miserable outside and cozy inside.

I cleaned my makeup brushes while I watched this! I love the real techniques brush cleaner, I used to use baby shampoo but this smells amazing and rinses out very well.

I was just last night thinking how many brushes I own that I don't use. i just went through all my sample stuff that was hidden away & put it where I will use it. I get several subscription boxes so I get so much stuff. You are such a decluttering inspiration.

So...my husband and I just went to Disneyland. We went shopping the day before and I was ecstatic when I saw those Disney shirts. I was going to take a picture of the polka dot one you're wearing and was gonna send to you. It reminded me of you because it's a subtle Disney with the less obvious mouse ears. Love it!!! 😍 I got one of the cream ones with blue polka dot.
I have a hard time decluttering because a lot of the times I'll think that if I have the space for it, I might as well keep it but end up with so much extra stuff that it becomes very overwhelming. However, your videos have been putting me in the mood to declutter everything I own so thank you.

That was fun to watch. It's amazing how brushes do tend to accumulate and how many never get used that we don't need to keep. I was surprised to see you discard the Real Tecniques sponge. I love that sponge, and the PUR. I use both of those as much if not more than my Beauty blenders. I didn't like the L'oreal at all. Never tried the Flower one but it's my cart now to give it a try..I wish you would have put a list of the brushes you loved enough to survive the de-clutter.
I only have one It Cosmetics brush and I love it I would love to have all of them that you are giving to your sisters. Good job decluttering.

I am a makeup brush fan. I own 6. I desire a few more and to replace the ones that need replacing . However, I wrote this entire note to thank my Mother in law who gifted me with my first set of brushes. Totally changed my way of applying my eye makeup.

I read the Marie Kondo book with my husband a little over a year ago, and we got rid of so much stuff that we didn't need. It was great! It's probably time to do that again though...
Its amazing how many brushes and tools you can collect over the years....I think I threw out 6 pair of tweezers...because they didn't work 2 pair I don't think every did why did I save them all this time. It did feel good to clean it all out.
I feel the same way about moving! We coming from Germany so our stuff has been packed since July. We move the end of the month. I think it will be easier letting it go since I have not seen it in so long! We downsized and had 7000 lbs for 3 people, which we thought was good! Now to get rid of more of what we don't need! I felt wastefully replacing, but once you hate it that is all I can think about!
I use the eco tools sponge for around my eyes love the shape for concealer and inner corners.

I like the wet n wild crease brush and the wet n wild small eyeshadow brush, I also like the wet n wild contour brush for blush from their essential brush line. One of my holy grail brushes from elf is the flawless concealer brush, I use that one for highlight.
