I've noticed this trend with people who do declutters: they like one or two shades from a palette and either keep it around to take up space, or they toss the whole thing and are tormented by the single shadow. Why not just take out the shadows that you were keeping the pallets for and pop those into your Z pallets? You have them! Lol

I did that last month! Went from 25+ palettes to 5 and one of those Mac double sided empty magnetic palettes. It was hard in the beginning though, destroying palettes that have absolutely beautiful packaging. But totally worth it!
I used to think the same thing! I would be cringing through the video like noooo please depot that color!!! But I think it comes down to the fact that Jess and a lot of other youtubers give all their decluttered makeup away to friends family coworkers then donate the rest. So it would really take away from the charitable aspect of these declutters.
For the average makeup lover/collector it would be crazy to not save those shades.

Lol I love when gurus say "I'm so obsessed with this palette" or say "omg I love this palette so much" then they open it and it looks like it's never been used..
That probably has a lot to do with the fact that they have a crap ton of palettes. It's a lot harder to hit pan when you're switching palettes all the time. I don't think that means they don't love all the palettes they say they love. The reality is they only have one face to use their favorite products on, unfortunately.

I am so emotionally attached to my palettes! I've decluttered every other category, but I can't bring myself to throw them away.

Lauren Munday I am the same. The ones I don't like to in a pile and every now and then I use them. lol I know when my sister comes to visit she will love my Esseñce Bronzes. I just have so much in those colour. Yet I love it. Too glittery though and a bit chalky. lol
Am I the only one who cannot deal with quads , trios and duos?! and funny weird unequal shadows, like bon hearts, or the estee edits? puts me right off

Fari the worst to me is palettes by the balm where the shadows are tilted sideways and all different directions. drives me NUTS I would never buy one!

the balm? the highligter palette? couldn't do that. worst ever has to be dose of colour "hidden treasure". I'd actually recoil if someone put that in my lap.....

A tip for traveling with your custom palettes: I get foam sheets in the WalMart paper craft section and cut them to fit on top of the shadows. They're the perfect thickness to protect your shadows but still let the magnetic closure hold securely. The sheets are letter size and come in many colors so they should be pretty easy to locate.

lee Molloy I actually use that palette every day. I'm very very pale so I use the nudes to build up a crease. It allows for a very forgiving application especially when I'm in a rush and don't have as much time to blend.

Yup Bc it's a nude palette so it creates a really beautiful and classless look, effortless transition, perfect for makeup in the car

Your declutter videos are the best! So many RUclipsrs get so emotionally attached...you bring the REAL, girl! 😂 Life is too short to clutter it with so much STUFF.

Not judging just wanted to point out that you did a pallette declutter 6 months ago. I just rewatched it and you said the same thing then about the Lorac Pro that you didn't love it but were going to keep it to try more. If it was me I would part with it. Your opinion obviously hasn't changed in the last 6 months! Love your videos Jess! You are my go to on all beauty things!

I just adore these declutter videos. I'm a lipstick hoarder but you totally inspired me to start to declutter my makeup. Not even joking, I got rid of 200+ products! I felt soo much better afterward.
Grace Mcewen I did a huge declutter too. I didn't realise I was lipstick hoarder until I had a look at my collection....over 200! I got rid of 60ish and I feel better, I think next summer I'm going to try again

Anna Miko I wondered! She must of had it someplace and did not see it with her collection. I am so curious as to what she thinks of it. I love mine even though it cost 97$ Canadian. Got it from the U.S. via a friend who saw it and got it for me. I wanted to pay her back so I did and it is worth it a million times. lol Pricey af though! HAHAHA!

I wonder if a brand could get away with making a palette with individual shadows relatively named after other actual brands? A purple shade called Urban Decay, a peachy pink called Benefit, a black called Elf, a highlight shade called Anastasia, a Barbie pink called Star etc etc.......
They may have to get permission but I think it'd be fun 😊

for some reason i love watching people declutter palettes. its so helpful seeing what you really use in the long run.
I love my sleek palettes. They are a pain in the ass to get but so worth it. I have sleek palettes that are hands down better than my high end palettes.
Your collection is so neutral, not that it's bad, but I'd personally be board. I have only 2 neutrals and the rest are bright colors or smokes. Teal is my favorite though.

The blue in the semi sweet palette looks great under the eye when using the gold shade in particular. Its a pretty pop of color you should try it out I used to be put off by it until I tried it. It was the reason I wouldn't buy the palette at first as well, but it is honestly one of my favorite shades in the palette
Tori Gross for me, that shade was actually one of the reasons why i bought the semi sweet palette! it looked so pretty on the pan but i was so dissapointed with the pigmentation... the other shades are so beautiful 😭
Anni Ohtonen awww yeah it's not super pigmented but I only use it on my lower lash line as a pop of color and it's pigmented enough for that have you tried it that's way? I'm sorry it disappointed you though!
i haven't tried them out on my lower lash line, i'll definitely do that now! thanks for the tip :) luckily i've found out other more pigmented teal shades for my lid.

Did you get the contour FACE palette or the EYE palette? I have the eye palette and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I am going to pick up the face contour palette at IMATS in NYC. Lolita is one of my fave shades as well.

No one likes the blue in the Too Faced Chocolate bar..I love using it and I am almost done with the color. I have light brown eyes so I use it on the outer corner of my eyelids

I think I remember her filming this a while ago. Maybe back in January or so. She probably got the modern renaissance after she filmed the declutter.

you have a very nice community here, so hopefully I'm "safe" making this comment :) I don't really get the love for palettes that people have (not just you, Jess). it seems like there are always a few shades that are loved, but not the whole palette. I'm probably the only one who feels this way, but I much prefer making my own z palettes with only colors that I use. that being said, I am not a RUclips-er, so my makeup life is different.

Your declutter videos are my version of a thriller movie! I'm like no! keep it! I want to come over with wine and ZPallette all the unique colors. I have forced myself to not upgrade the size of my makeup storage, so if it doesn't fit, I have to toss something...so thanks for your bravery and inspiration!

Wow, got rid of a lot of fun colors and kept some really ho-hum shades. Just my opinion, so don't everyone jump all over me defending Jessica. I love her videos or wouldn't be watching. I just wonder why keep so much neutral when there are a million neutral palettes out there?! I also don't understand why every palette has to have the colors for a complete look?! So you have to use another one to complete your look - unless you're traveling every day what's the big deal?!

Personally I love Lorac's formula but I can see how you can feel uninspired.I just got the California Dreaming palette and it is so different. I think you would like it!

Yank InTX I have had it a few months and I'm in love. There isn't any fallout for me but there is a lot of kickup. I think they're pretty pigmented with the exception of the purple which is easily buildable in two applications, something I appreciate since it's so easy to mess up purple on he lid.
Yank InTX the pigmentation is up to par, you just need to remember these are soft colors that aren't going to be bright and bold. It's very unique though. I've enjoyed it
The Studio makeup on the go palette in Cool Down is one of my favorites too!! I love that I can prettty much do a whole look with it. The shimmer shades are amazing!!

I depotted my Studio Makeup palettes and my IBY palette because I wasn't getting any use out of them either. Now they're mixed up into my MUG singles and I use them much more now 😊

I have been working through my pallets too.. First I made myself declutter, then those that were in my 'maybe pile" I made myself use them for 3 to 4 day.. in conjunction with another palette that I love.. if I didn't relove it or find a way that made me "HAVE" to keep it.. it went.. and I decluttered it at the end of that week. I own wayyyyy to many still.and plan to keep working through those that I kept.. I did take those I was decluttering and offered them up first to a friend of mine who is a singe mom of a teen age girl... let her pick a few, then I let my daughters friends that I know like make up but are not crazy like me about it.. So far I have made a few people happy!!

The "reason" is because when you literally have THAT much stuff and that many options, unless you make a point to use a different one every day, you just won't reach for them. I have a fraction that many palettes and literally run into that issue already. LOL

Can someone suggest a good pallet where most of the shadows are green? Some basic palette included 2-3 green shades and some others (like brown etc)? I really wanna buy present to my mom and she loves green eyeshadows.

I recently depotted my nikki tutorials, I got hard pan on the bronzer and the highlight so quickly and cause it was so expensive (£50) I couldn't throw the whole thing away. But I was getting mad every time I looked at it.

OOOHH I'm doing this too!!! So happy to see this video and I feel the same way, I want someone else to love the shadow palettes I'm not using. I gave several shadow palettes to a women's organization last year so now I'm taking a 2nd look at my collection. And the wonderful feeling of giving, oh my gosh these beautiful women gave me thank you cards, warmed my heart so much. You did great! I'm always inspired by you!
