My nearest can-am dealer can’t keep a cab/heat/air defender on the lot. Last time I stopped a semi showed up with 3, they were all sold...you have to put you name on a list. My Polaris dealer can’t get enough 1500 rangers...but our area is farm/ranch...they aren’t used for ‘fun’.
2025 RANGER 570 SP Northstar (full cab enclosed w/heat) 19,500? 2025 Ranger XP 1000 Northstar Premium (full cab enclosed w/heat and AC) 27,000? Don’t have to buy this most expensive machine my guy…
Toys are the first thing to go when times get tough. RV's and toys enjoyed a record boom during the lock down and handouts. Taxes, insurance, groceries and interest rates are up. Not to mention many of them are getting cabs and 30-50k which seems insane for a utility machine... I can't imagine how to justify a 600-1000 a month payment for a SXS!
The whole industry is in trouble because of greed. Back a few years ago dealers added all kinds of fees on top of already inflated retail prices. Now these same customers are coming back to trade or upgrade. Then they find out they are several thousands dollars underwater on their loans. At which point they either can’t get a loan or are unwilling to take on the extra debt. Sad for the customer, karma for the dealers. Then add interest rates on top of it all. Looks to me like the market is about to adjust to mid size, lower priced quads. Time will tell.
While I do enjoy the UTV market too, I'd be glad to see companies focus more on ATVs again. It woukd be a great time for them to bring sport ATVs back.
What I despise is the dealer and set up fees on SXS , most of my local dealers charge 2k, Then they sit for awhile then they can magically not charge Those fees. So sick of dealers. I tried to buy my son a raptor 90 and my dealer told me $900 freight and set up fees I laughed at him and walked out.
I think the market is saturated at this point. People who want a SXS already have one. Not many people can spend 30k to 50k on a SXS. Or they are buying used machines.
Buying a used sxs just smells like a bad idea. To see how some of these things get road, ya might as well call it's a boat.(Bring Out Another Thousand)😂
I'm seeing Kawasaki Ridge hvac for 22k or 24k out the door and limiteds for 24k and 26,500 otd. I was in the market for a Defender limited but now I'm moving towards a Ridge xr hvac.
How come no mention of CF Moto? Aren’t they the world leader of Atv and Utv’s manufactured in the world? Last I read they were the fastest growing manufacturer in the US market. Plus they are thousands less with more standard options than most of the manufacturers mentioned!
Jeeps can't hold a candle to what a SXS can do or go. Anyone who says this hasn't used both of these - they have their places They are fairly expensive, but the capability is nuts - it's the same as the 3/4 ton 1 ton truck market, they are insanely capable and the features and creature comforts are driving the prices way high.
Zombie apocalypse: You can't carry 15 belts and have to make the belt you have last as long as possible: Wolverine lineup, which also lets you enjoy the trail after doing work better than the competition, especially the RMAX. Of course there's always the beltless YXZ. YXZ sport SxS that doesn't cost $50K, but can be built to beat one with aftermarket turbo and suspension upgrades for $20K less. X2 1000. Yamaha bringing QUALITY budget alternatives for this Build Back Better economy.
I have an rmax limited and really considering the ridge xr just don't want to be disappointed in the suspension department. Fox isn't making shocks for the ridge yet.
You guys are acting like the sxs market is pricing units at cost. Must be nice to think 30,000 for a unit is fair. How much do you guys think each 30,000 unit costs the manufacturer to make? Maybe 15,000, and I think I'm being generous! Interests are high, but the manufacturers are gouging. If they lowered their prices to reflect what a sxs is actually worth, and C.E.O.s were happy with simply being millionaires. A lot more units would find their way to middle class Americans
Trump's Tariffs will only increase the prices of the SXS (and all other OHVs) So the industry has to tilt to more work-spec machines & less sales, rather than toys to play with. The industry's best days might be behind them, time will tell, but that is what I am reading from the tea leaves. For the Zombie situation, go with a EV side by side, you can charge it with solar panels and keep it running for years, rather than fuel which might last a year, if that.
Maybe if they didn’t charge 50K for an enclosed SXS they would sell more.

@ easier to buy w tax deductions. For W2 folks it’s a tougher pill to swallow.

Great display of off road journalism.
No brand loyalty here , just honest straight up info from a dependable source

A week ago, Karl Malone's had a Polaris Pro R 4 seat listed for $80k. Yeah, it had some dealer accessories but, Eighty Thousand Dollars?!?. Insane.

Normalization of volume of units but still all the oem replacement parts on back order.
I just bought a maverick R and paid 10k below msrp. I have been waiting for a price correction for 4 yrs. I think it has finally started.
Defender is by far the toughest SXS I’ve ever owned!!!
Hard time selling luxury items when the average American has debt that's through the roof.
But the phony media says it’s the best economy ever...

My banker claims high prices aren’t slowing anyone down...he’s happy to put everyone into more debt.

I saw a new 2023 Honda Talon for 16k the other day.
I can buy a very nice Jeep for the prices of the new sxs. Makes no sense at all….

When they wanna charge ya $3,000 for freight and setup, while ur sittin in the machine thats done and ready. Piss off!😂
Bought my first ATV’s last year and couldn’t believe the “freight & Set Up” charges.
$4000 dollars of the Kawasaki KRX in some of the dealerships in Kentucky
Still to expensive
you should show pictures of what you discuss, so audience knows and understands

Honestly didn't even know Artic Cat was still around
30 k i can by and build a small 4×4 for less and not have to haul it on a trailer
I’d love the prices on the long bed defender pro to come down. Any chance that’ll happen?
Who can afford one?
I thinking racing for these couod be a huge sport but it would have to be blue collar and its not because they are to expensive
Cfmoto?
Bring back sport atvs, sxs's are too damn expensive. I don't know very many people that can afford to spend 30 to 60k for a sxs.way too much money!
