💬 Which Inktense product is your favourite: blocks, pencils, or pans? Or are you new to Inktense and considering giving them a try? Let me know in the comments-I’d love to hear about your experiences and answer your questions! 😃
I have used inktense on fabric and it works excellently well. There are three methods you can use to activate the colour after you’ve drawn it on, a damp brush which can be tricky to control the soread of the paint but great for washes, alcohol-based aloe vera gel with a brush for more control, or a colourless alcohol marker such as a copic blender which gives the most control in small areas.
Hi RiverAmazonNZ! 🌟 Wow, what a fantastic tip for using Inktense on fabric! 🧵🎨 I love how you’ve broken it down into methods-so helpful for anyone looking to experiment. 😊 The aloe vera gel trick is genius, and I hadn’t even thought of a colourless alcohol marker! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and for watching-it will be so useful for the community here, what a star! 🌟✨
I’m getting this tattooed on me somewhere “I’m over 50 now, I can do what I want!” Go girl! Too right! I got some inktense blocks and pencils but have barely used them yet lol. So many art supplies, so little time. lol
Julianne, I LOVE this! 😂🎉 Honestly, “I’m over 50, I can do what I want!” would make the perfect tattoo-bold, empowering, and a little cheeky! 😘 And oh, the classic ‘too many art supplies, so little time’ struggle-we’re all in that club! 🖌️✨ Those Inktense Blocks and pencils are waiting for you; they’re such fun when you finally dive in. Thanks so much for watching and sharing this-it made my day! ❤️🤗
@@sarahclementsart Wouldn't it just! It's perfect! I'll get it on my lower arm so when I move it (and i do often - adhd struggles lol) then everyone can see it 😆😆🤣. Oh yes we really are I already had a lot but this past year, well it's got just a tad bigger ;0) hehe. I'm going to have a play I must! lol. Yay, I'm glad happy to make you smile!
Have a friend who grates them over a piece of parchment paper, then uses the paper like a funnel to put the grated blocks into spray bottles, paint pans, dirtectly on to fabrics etc... then activates them by adding the medium of her choice, water, alcohol, clear gesso, etc.. ❤
Wow, your friend is an Inktense genius! 🧠🎨 Grating over parchment paper and using it as a funnel? That’s next-level cleverness 👏✨! I love how versatile the blocks are-spray bottles, paint pans, even fabrics?! It's like Inktense alchemy 🔮. Thank you so much for sharing this tip-it’s going to inspire a lot of creativity out there! And thanks for watching and taking the time to comment-you’re amazing! 💕😊
I got the set of 12 blocks (small) and then I watched the video of the artist doing the sea turtle picture that is now on the tins... So the next day I went back to the art shop and got the white, which I snapped into three and put it in the wells in the tin. So I have the set of 12 plus white. ... Also, I just got a small white kitchen cutting board (brand new) instead of the Caran D'ache palette board, I wrote "ART. DO NOT USE FOR FOOD" on it with a POSCA marker. I also have the 15 set of Caran D'ache neocolour 2's, so the board can be used with them, too.
Wow, you're a person after my own heart-so organised and resourceful! 🎨🖌️ Love the creativity with the cutting board idea (and the 'DO NOT USE FOR FOOD' label 😂👌). Your art supply setup sounds amazing, especially with those Neocolor II’s and Inktense Blocks working together. I bet you're creating some magical art over there 🐢✨! Thanks so much for sharing your tips and for watching-I really appreciate it! 💕😊
I have the 72 set of the Inktense blocks plus a small set of the pencils. I bought them a few years ago because I wanted a watercolor effect that would dry permanent. I pull them out occasionally but not as often as I would like. This video was really inspiring- I hadn’t thought to try the spray bottle or water brush techniques before. I just subscribed and am looking forward to watching some more of your past videos!
Thank you so much for watching and for subscribing, Rachel! 🥳 Welcome aboard the Inktense train! 🚂🎨 I’m so glad you found the video inspiring-it makes my day to hear that! 🌟 The spray bottle and water brush techniques are definitely game-changers, and I hope they help you fall in love with your set all over again! The 72 blocks give you *so much* room to play-it’s like having a rainbow at your fingertips. 🌈✨ I hope you have fun diving into some of my older videos too-grab those blocks and let’s get creative together! Thanks again for your lovely comment-it means the world to me! ❤️😊

Great video reviewing the inktense products, it’s inspired me to get mine out! Not that I’m obsessed but I have the pans, blocks and pencils 😂🫣 when I rediscovered my love for creating art a few years ago and I was starting to look into supplies I wanted watercolour pencils but couldn’t find any that I liked but fell in love with these pencils for their versatility. Then I think I got some blocks in a scrawlrbox which I also loved then when the paint pans were released I thought it’d be rude not to complete the range 😂😂
Hi Evette! 😊 Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm-it’s so inspiring! 😂 You’ve got the whole Inktense family, and honestly, I can’t blame you-they’re just so versatile and fun to use! It’s amazing how they helped rekindle your love for creating art. I’m thrilled the video inspired you to dive back in with them-happy creating and enjoy every colourful moment! 🎨✨

Thank you so much for watching and leaving this fantastic comment 🥰 A bona fide Inktense junkie? Hi there, Annihilator! 😄 Aren’t the Inktense colours just the best? 🎨✨ And yes, the white block is like a magic wand for little oopsies-so handy! 🪄 Thanks a ton for watching and sharing your love for these fab art supplies! 🥰 Happy art making!
@nattyw495 Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment 💙 I’m so glad you found the video interesting and informative-it means a lot! Inktense blocks and pencils are such fun to work with, aren’t they? 🎨🖌 Wishing you a very happy holiday season too! 🎄✨💙 x
I have both the inktense pencils and the blocks in the 72 size set and I have had such a hard time trying to incorporate them into my art even though I use watercolor paints and water color pencils regularly but I hope to someday use them up. I can't recall ever owning one of those grater bottles but I do know if you go to any dollar tree you can purchase a small foot grater in the cosmetics section that you can remove the grater portion of and use over any container you might own if that helps anyone out there.
First off, having the 72 sets of both the pencils AND the blocks? Total art goals right there! 🎨✨ Inktense can be a bit of a different beast compared to traditional watercolours, but once you get the hang of them, you'll be unstoppable! 💪 Also, the foot grater hack? GENIUS! 😂👏 Thank you for sharing that tip-Dollar Tree to the rescue! If only we had one in the Uk I guess thats our £ shops. 🛒💡 I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment-it means so much! 💕😊
I have the same box as you and bought them many years ago. Prior to that I bought the 24 box of pencils and loved them so much. The 72 box of blocks was so cumbersome and I decided to get a couple of tins 17 x 9 cm and some half pans (40 in each tin). I cut off 1.5 cm pieces from each block which fit perfectly which made them easy to transport and took very little space on my desk. I’m still using them the same way you would use a watercolor palette. Can’t remember the last time I looked in the large box! I think the will last forever!!!
Wow Jen that’s such a brilliant way to handle the big 72 box! 🎨✨ Cutting the blocks into smaller pieces and using half pans is pure genius-portable, organized, and super functional! 👏 It’s like you’ve turned them into the ultimate watercolour palette. I totally get the 'these will last forever' vibe too-they're so pigmented it’s like they regenerate 😂! Thanks so much for sharing your clever setup, and for watching-I really appreciate you! 💕😊
Having both the 72 sets of pencils AND blocks? That’s like having the ultimate Inktense dream team! I should know.😁 🎨✨ I love that you’ve found different reasons to enjoy them equally-it’s all about what works for the moment, right? Thanks so much for sharing your Inktense love and for watching-I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! 💕😊
Love this tip! 🧑🎨✨ Mason jar grater lids-what a smart, budget-friendly find! 🙌 I bet those work perfectly for grating the Inktense blocks without breaking the bank. Thank you so much for sharing this little gem! 🏺💡 I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! 💕😊
Hi Kate! 😊 That makes me so happy to hear-there’s nothing better than feeling inspired to create! I hope you have so much fun playing with your Inktense again. Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment-happy creating! 🎨✨
Great fun watching you have a play….i have the 24 set of pencils and a pan set…I love the idea of making up and wash and putting it in the brush…Thank you..
Hi Pamela! 😊 I’m so glad you enjoyed watching-it was such fun to share! The 24 pencils and the pan set sound like a fantastic combo, and I’m thrilled you love the idea of making a wash in a brush. It’s such a handy trick! Thank you so much for your kind comment-happy creating! 🎨✨
Thanks for all the info! Was wondering if you tried a cut straw to save your brush tips? Might help if you can find the right size. Anyway thank you for the tips 😊
Kim you're so very welcome, and thank YOU for the brilliant cut straw tip! 🥤✨ That’s such a clever idea for saving brush tips-I’ll definitely have to give it a try (and raid my straw stash 😂). Love these little hacks that make art life easier! Thanks for watching and for sharing your great idea-I really appreciate it! 💕😊
I have the big set of Inktense pencils and a small set of the blocks. I’ve never got on with any of them but now I’m inspired to have another go! Thanks Sarah! x
Jessica, I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired! 🥰 Sometimes it’s just about giving those art supplies another chance, isn’t it? ✨ The Inktense pencils and blocks can be a bit of a learning curve, but once they click, oh boy, they’re magic! 🖌️💖 Let me know how your next go with them turns out-cheering you on all the way! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! 😘 x
Hi Wilma! 😊 Aren't Inktense blocks just amazing? I'm so glad you're enjoying your set of 12-they really do pack a punch with their versatility! White can be tricky, but it sounds like you've got a great system figured out. Happy creating, and thank you so much for sharing your love for these vibrant little wonders! 🎨✨
I had only the 12 set Inktense blocks but I also have the bigger box of Inktense Pencils, the Albrect Durer set of 24 I think pencils and the Faber Castell 48 box of pencils. I tried out all of these together - thinking that either the Albrect Durer or the big box of Inktense pencils were going to be the best. But to my surprise, the winners were, without a doubt, the box of 12 Inktense blocks. They released their colour much more easily than the pencils did, and felt creamier, and were much easier to put on top of a previously dry layer. Some of the pencils just would not release any colour over a dry layer. So of course I immediately went out and bought the big 72 tin of Inktense Blocks - and I'm so glad I did. They are lovely. P.S. the greater is a 'great' idea - I'm now looking for a cheese grater, Sainsbury's seem to have some. Lol
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your art supply adventures, Fran! 🥰 Wow, what a showdown between some truly stellar contenders-I love that the 12 Inktense blocks came out on top as the unexpected champions! 🏆🎨 They really are little powerhouses of vibrant, goodness, aren’t they? 🌈 Plus hooray for treating yourself to the full 72 set-there’s no such thing as too many colours, right? 😄 I’m so glad you’re enjoying them! As for the cheese grater-who knew kitchen tools would become essential art supplies?! 😂 Good luck in your Sainsbury’s quest-don’t be surprised if it changes the way you use your blocks forever. 🧀🎨 Thanks again for your lovely comment-it means the world to me! ❤️😊
@sarahclementsart Oh what a lovely reply. Thank you so much. Yes, kitchen implements can be wonderful art supplies, can't they? And yes, the Inktense Blocks were the surprise winner. I think because I've never been all that fond of pastels, so I just thought the block would be similarly awkward to use, but no!
Hi Sylvia! 🎉 Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment! I know, right? The jar grater was such a handy tool-lucky you for snagging one (some) early on! So glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Happy sketching (or grating 😄)!
I have the large set. And yes you can not read the names of the colors on the darker colors. I did what someone suggested here on a video. I cut a piece of watercolor paper to fit the inside of the lid. Swatched them out, with the name of the block color next to it. All in the order that they lay in the tin. So every time I open the tin up to use them, there is my paper telling and showing me the colors. Hope this helps.
That’s such a brilliant idea, Lady Leda-thank you for sharing! 😊✨ Those dark colours are definitely sneaky when it comes to labels, aren’t they? Your swatch-in-the-lid solution is genius-super handy and visually inspiring too! 🎨👏 I might just have to give that a try next time I dive into the blocks. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to share this tip-it’s much appreciated! 💛🌟
I have the two small pan sets. I prefer a not so permanent a medium when it dries, I like to soften and blend which is why I am excited to try gouache. However, I have used the inktense pans to add detail over a watercolour
Graham, that sounds like a fantastic approach! 🎨✨ I totally get wanting a medium you can soften and blend-that’s the magic of gouache, right? 💕 But using the Inktense pans to add detail over watercolour? Genius! 🖌️ They really do shine for those bold, permanent touches. Thanks so much for sharing your process and for watching-it’s always a joy to hear how others are using their supplies! 😊🙌
Thanks for letting me know! I just love his sketch book. What an inspiring artist-his landscapes tell such a story & I cant wait to find out more about him🌿🎨. I appreciate you sharing this 💕🙏
The blocks are my favorite. However, they all dry streaky. It doesn’t seem to matter what paper I use. The only thing that helps is diluting them more than I would like. Any suggestions?
Do you get different effects with different size brushes? How about tilting the paper and doing the wash from the top down. Takes practice, but search 'paint the bead watercolours' or something like that for examples. Sometimes, a mister can help instead of a brush.
Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your experience, @melissa! 🥰 I’m thrilled to hear the blocks are your favourite-they’re definitely a versatile bunch! 🎨 Ah, the streakiness issue-it’s like they’ve got a streaky personality to match their vibrant colours. 😅 I’ve found that using a damp brush (not too wet, not too dry-it’s a *Goldilocks situation*) can help blend things out without diluting the colour too much. Also, layering softly and letting each layer dry before adding more can help even things out! If all else fails, call it “intentional texture” and claim your artistic genius. 😉✨ Thanks again for your lovely comment-it means the world! ❤️
I’m not sure I appreciate inktense products in the way that you seem to. I’m not necessarily on board with the permanent-after-drying feature. Also, I struggle with the pencils as I live in the drier parts of Australia and my pencils barrels cracked/split. So I ended up with tactile aversions. However, I have come to a really respect the inktense blocks especially. I have been dabbling in using reasonable quality art supplies working with kids. These blocks represent high reward, high functionality to cost benefit. Give a kid half a block, and they can lay it on its side and cover a whole lot of space with colour. Give a kid a bit of water and suddenly that colour that they laid down (which was pretty good anyway) comes alive. Then they can use them like a more typical watercolour pan. So many ways of laying down colour on a page. And so far the inktense blocks that I have supplied my 9 year old niece are the only art supply that are not looking worse for wear in the three years she’s been using them. Not for one minute am I suggesting that it is a kids art supply, I am suggesting that I hold more respect for inktense blocks for being able to stand up to kids
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful perspective, @Paperthumbtack! 🌟 I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave such a detailed comment-it means a lot! 😊 I totally get where you're coming from about the permanent-after-drying feature-it’s one of those things people either love or feel... *less enthusiastic* about. 😂 I’m so sorry to hear about your pencil barrels cracking in the dry Aussie climate-yikes! That would give me a tactile aversion too. But wow, I love how you’ve found a special respect for the blocks! They really are little powerhouses, aren’t they? 💪 The way you described giving them to kids made me smile-half a block and some water, and they’re off creating vibrant masterpieces! 🎨 It’s amazing how durable they are too-lasting three years with a 9-year-old is practically a miracle. 😄 I agree 100% that while they’re definitely not *just* a kids’ supply, the blocks sure know how to shine in creative little hands. Thanks for highlighting their versatility so beautifully! ❤️
Hi Jessica! 😊 Great question! The Inktense Blocks currently come in a range of 72 colours,(unlike the pencils) so not quite the full 100-yet! 🤞 But they’re still an amazing palette to play with, and you can mix them for endless shades. 🎨 Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 🥰✨
Hi Pilladisimo! 😊 Oooh, the ultimate Inktense debate! Honestly, it depends on your style-pencils are fab for details ✏️, blocks are amazing for big, bold strokes and blending 🎨, and pans are super portable for on-the-go creativity 🖌️. They're all winners in their own way! 🏆 My mind changes all the time. One minute I'm loving the pencils the next I can't be without the pans. I made a quick 15min sketch this week (its my next video) and used the pans - they were perfect for it. Sorry for the non committed answer. If I could only buy one of the range it would be the pencils though - a middle sized set. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment-you rock! 🤩

Love my inktense blocks. Only the 12 set, so use another option if i need white. They are so versatile.😊
Plus hooray for treating yourself to the full 72 set-there’s no such thing as too many colours, right?
Great video, yes why did they stop selling the jar grater lucky enough I got one since they first sold them tfs sylvi🎉🎉🎉
Hi Sylvia! 🎉 Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment! I know, right? The jar grater was such a handy tool-lucky you for snagging one (some) early on! So glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Happy sketching (or grating 😄)!
Look in kitchen tools. I have a tiny grater that comes with a container and lid. Cheaper too lol.
Love it.Brilliant idea! 😁🎉
Ackroyd just passed away in his mid 80’s this September. Pretty well known for Landscape art.
Ah, the streakiness issue-it’s like they’ve got a streaky personality to match their vibrant colours.
😂 Thank you!@sarahclementsart
@Iwanttodrawachicken Thank you very much!
I totally get where you're coming from about the permanent-after-drying feature-it’s one of those things people either love or feel...
I agree 100% that while they’re definitely not *just* a kids’ supply, the blocks sure know how to shine in creative little hands. Thanks for highlighting their versatility so beautifully! ❤️
Do the blocks come in the 100 colors I wonder?
Which is better sticks, Pencils or pans?
@ I tryed pans for backgrounds and big surfaces and pencils for details but I haven't dared to buy the blocks yet
