8:31 Ecoline Refill: be patient. It takes time until the liquid watercolor (dye) is absorbed by the fibers. You can dip the nib and the fiber insert directly into the liquid watercolour to get them to absorb the liquid a bit quicker. Don't give up on it yet :-)
Thanks so much for your comment (I'm so sorry is it Berol or Berolina?) I will be patient and give this a try, What a good idea. Thanks for watching. 💡🎨🙏🏼
PanPastels are so gorgeous and go on beautifully! They are wonderful for underpainting too. The pans may look small but will last a very long time. Amazon sells a small basic colors set which will give you a good idea how easily they blend and their versatility. And they are not as dusty as typical pastels.
It sounds like you’re really enjoying PanPastels! 🎨 The way they blend so easily and their versatility is definitely a big draw. 🙌 And it’s great to hear that the pans last a long time, especially considering how small they may look at first. 🤔 The fact that they’re less dusty than traditional pastels is a huge bonus too, making them more enjoyable to work with! 😊 Have you used them for any specific projects or techniques you’d recommend? ✨
Just discovered your channel, I'm looking forward to binging on your videos. Thank you for showing us some techniques with the pastels, especially flicking the lighter colour onto the darker one. Ive done this with Inktense pencils and an emery board which gives interesting results too.
Welcome to the channel, @Artistallegedly-ys4rt! 🎉😊 I’m so thrilled you found me and are diving into the videos-sit back for an artsy ride! 🎨🍿 I love that you’ve tried the flicking technique with Inktense pencils and an emery board-what a genius twist! 🖌️✨ Thanks so much for sharing that tip, and for watching-I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! 💖😊
Thank you so much.💫🙏🏼 Oh no! I do hear this that the Pan Pastels are prone to breakage. I also will just use them broken if/when it happens. I'm glad you are going to get them out again. Enjoy! 😊
Oooooh Jessica what a good idea. 👍 The alcohol won't freeze either during winter. I wonder if they blend with mineral spirits? 🤔 Thanks for the comment & tip. 🙏👌
Thanks so much for this comment Tracy. 💫🙏 I'm still really new to this & it's a huge learning curve. I'm trying to work up the nerve to talk directly to the camera. Its so hard. 👩🏫🎥 Yes I agree, failure in anything is usually the best way to learn (though difficult at the time) whether its using products, making art or filming. It's great having this amazing community here to support me. It means an awful lot. Thanks again for watching and the generous comment. 🙂
I’m not a fan of Ecoline pens either but I played with the inks one day when thinking of putting them under layers of watercolour so the ink would stay put and I loved how even the tones are compared to watercolour but they have the odd subtle pool of darker ink in places. A little like shading fountain pen inks. So I went and bought about 15 more inks in a good sale. I’m an art supplies magpie and have a few of most art supplies bar acrylics and oils and I have to say Ecoline inks are in my top 10 art supplies now. They just have this uniquely flat and soft surface texture that I love.
Hi, so it's not just me then with the pens,😅 I totally agree with you about the Ecoline bottles. The yellow ochre is exactly that, soft flat and very beautiful. I'm very tempted to invest in some more as I was so taken with it afterwards. They looked lovely when I tried them on the Royal Talens sketchbook. Are the bottle inks the same as the bottle watercolours? Is it the same thing? Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Your support is appreciated.💫🙏🏼
Ooooh Gwen....Terry Ludwig pastels that's a new one on me. I'm probably very late to the party on this. I appreciater the recommendation but my wallet does not thank you. Thanks for watching and commenting. ✏️🤔🙏🏻
For the ecolines, they're water colour, so if they've dried up they're just missing water. Adding more ecoline is just adding more pigment and a little water. I'm not sure of the ratio of water to pigment in these, but if you're already not a huge fan you could definitely play with it. My bottles always seem more pigmented than I want to put down straight away.
Oh wonderful, thanks for this.🙏 Your obviously very knowledgeable about the Ecolines. I cant wait to give it ago when I get home. Talens really should give a little more information about this. Thanks again for taking the time to watch, comment & give the useful tip. 👌💦
@@sarahclementsartEcoline once properly dry are mostly not rewettable as they’re ink and not pigment based like real watercolour. If you put a drop in a palette and let it dry it will rewet slightly but have hard little clumps of ink that doesn’t re-dissolve.
Thanks for this Sylvia.🙏 I hate to give up on any art supply so will give this a try. 👍 Thanks for watching, supporting & taking the time to comment. ✏️👌🎨
Just discovered you and loving your vlogs. Especially interested with your use of pan pastels. I bought them mega cheap from Amazon as one had crumbled but I don’t find any probs using them - probs as they were so cheap🤭
Hi Sue! 😊 Aww, thank you so much for discovering my channel and loving the vlogs-it means the world to me! 🥰 PanPastels are such a joy to work with, and what a bargain you snagged on Amazon! 🎉 Who cares about a little crumble when the price is that good, right? 😄 Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience-you’ve made my day! 🖌️✨BTW I have the loveliest cousin who shares your name.😀
When the nib is dry on refillable pens, sit the pen aside for a day or so once you’ve refilled it. It will slowly absorb the ink and be useful again. That nib looks fine.
Thank you for the tip Ivy.🙏🏼 Yes this seems to be the general consensus (I'm basically being impatient) but I'm glad you think the nib looks fine. It was rock hard so its good to know there is life left in it. 💫🖊️
Thanks Deborah. I appreciate the comment and am looking forward to giving the Ecoline another go. I'm so glad also you got something from the pastel part. That's what its all about sharing these bits of knowledge. 💫🥰🙏🏻

I’ve not seen them about for a while. Now you’ve got me wanting to play with my pastels. U need to stop tempting me with goodies rofl. It doesn’t take much tho so it’s all on me hehe.
Lol....I'm so sorry Julianne for parading all these tempting art supplies in front of you. If you have them though you've got to show them some love. Why are you torn between Derwent lightfast and Luminance? I just all pencils against the 1960s-1980s set of Derwent open stock artists pencils than my grandmother gave me in 1994. I used those pencils down to 2-3cm. My parents then replaced the pencils with both a 12 tin of studio and a 24 tin of artist’s pencils. However they weren’t the same. The pencils were scratchy. So 10-12 yr old me attached myself to crayola twistsble crayons. In my 20s I was in love with lyra colour giants (in the early 2000s crayola recipe changed and their pencils were now too scratchy and horrible) In 2018, I discovered prismacolors which give 1990s crayola pencils, polychromos and luminance which finally replace the old school 1980s Derwents. I’m no longer brand loyal at coloured pencils. Just tactile loyal.
Wow, what an amazing journey with your art supplies! 🎨✨ It sounds like you’ve had quite the adventure with pencils over the years, from the 1960s Derwent set to the Prismacolors and Luminance now-so much history in your art-making! 💖 I can totally understand being torn between Derwent Lightfast and Luminance, as they both have their unique qualities. It’s all about that perfect feel, and like you said, it’s more about being loyal to the tactile experience rather than a single brand! 😊 Thanks so much for sharing your colourful journey with me, and for subscribing!
