I think my diverter valve might be leaking when I take off from a stop my boost doesn’t kick in right away like it use to and I hear a whistle sound coming from the diverter valve location I never noticed the noise before until my intake manifold went bad . I hear that whistle sound before and after I replaced my intake and decarbed my intake valves some ppl tell me it’s jus the turbo building boost but like I said I never heard it before and my car feels like it’s not building boost like it should so it’s probably my diverter valve what do you think ? I plan on ordering one soon
Spencer Schloth is it flutter or just a “whoosh”? When I did mine I got a woosh sound but not really any flutter. Flutter would indicate your stock diverter valve is opening too late, or not at all if nothing else. If you have an aftermarket diverter valve that would be normal.
@@cartermaneki okay thanks I'll look into it I will check my car tomorrow because the owner who had it before me did alot of aftermarket work and I suspect he did something with it.
I never did any testing for this, but with the DV+ the car was able to hold higher boost without having any leaks through the factory diverter valve. More boost=more power=faster, right? haha
thanks! That is a feature of the tune I have from Stratified Automotive Controls. I have a video review of the tune on my channel if you’re interested!
Your car already has a DV, you would just be upgrading it to the newer and more reliable model. This isn’t necessarily a performance upgrade, as much as it’s a preventative maintenance upgrade that helps your performance. You can upgrade it!
The DV+ is a solid upgrade whether you are stock, stage 1, or even big turbo. No tune needed, nor any other supporting mods. As was already stated, you're not gonna see any huge performance gains from this unless your factory diverter valve is completely shot. With these cars, its not really a matter of if your DV will fail, its a matter of when.
@@cartermaneki did u lose intake noise when u let off the pedal after installing this. Because I did and I was wondering is tht normal or did I do something wrong
I got a soft code after installing it is that normal people say its normal because it works different than factory diverter valve can anyone please help!
Recently I’ve been building boost until about 4 psi, then it gets “stuck” after I apply more throttle it builds more boost. Do you think the upgraded dv would help this
Noah Schroeder sounds like it could potentially be the DV, could also be a boost leak someplace else. One of the main signs of the failing DV is a loud ringing noise when you hit boost, I attempted to capture it on video but wasn’t able to do so.
@@cartermaneki curious how much psi you are pushing, I use to push 19-20 psi when I first got the tune but now I can't get past 16 psi thinking it might be the dv
the DV+ is still a diverter valve so it recirculates the air, instead of venting to atmosphere like a blow off valve. Unlike a spacer, this kit rebuilds and upgrades the factory DV solenoid to be more reliable and safer for higher amounts of boost. A spacer offsets the original DV from the compressor housing on the turbo so that instead of acting as a diverter valve, it then acts as a blow off valve and no longer recirculates the metered air
@@cartermaneki you on a 100 cell cat or catless?? I've got a startified tune aswell but I'm hearing that it's not really good for it so I'm sorta hesitant on running it
Jason Lo catless. The biggest thing in getting the pops and crackles is either getting rid of the cat or getting a high flow one. Of course catless is preferred.
Yes did replace mine and got 80 more hp, however if you are stage 1 or 2 i would recommend the dv+ I replaced it with a rev D and it already broke like 4 days after replacing it
You forgot to oil the piston in the DV!
does it matter what type of oil you use?
@@penguin7636 Nope, just lube it up so its not bone dry
Hey so I have a question, why does the ecs tuning say that it doesn't fit my car. However, I have the same exact car as you?
On the leak was it a high pitch noise when hitting the gas like on and off
How did you take out that harness
Is there anything I need if I have a stock mk6 gti?

Is I normal to get that turbo flutter with a cold air intake and a stage 1 Cobb tune? Because I already get it and im curious why.

Nope
Great video man! Am doing this soon.
A quick question tho! How did you make the backfire sounds ?

The DV+ operates off the same principle as the factory diverter valve. Unless I'm missing something, you shouldn't run a code.

Hey were you running the high torque Stratified tune or just the regular tune?
it’s just the standard low torque tune. The car still has the stock clutch.

Michael Scofield that would be the cold air intake contributing to most of the noise you hear when he lets off
