    Dude, from one Professioanl Technician to another I extend to you many many thanks yous. I have a 20 year old Passat 1.8T and a 2008 Jetta 2.0T FSI and whenever I VAG my rides and see an issue I always go straight to your channel... I gotta say both engines have been flawlessly running in reality... I got my 1.8T from a retired doctor in the city and she only had the VW dealership ever touch that car so it was squeaky clean inside the engine and I'm running Rotella T6 in it and it LOVES that oil... My 2.0 has had a few issues like this one here but it's been a rocket on wheels and never left me stranded. Both cars now have over 350,000km on both clocks and the run perfectly. I attribute a lot of their good vibes from being able to save sooooo much diagnostic time by going straight to your channel... again many thanks from up here in Canuckistan!!

    I never had P0299 code but suspected my turbo diverter valve was damaged, and knew it was the old version of the part. When I took the old diverter valve off I suspected the rubber diaphragm would be torn like my PCV was. BUT it was fully in 3 pieces when I finally finessed it out.
    Glad I got that fixed its driving much smoother. Now to get those dirty valves cleaned...

    Great info! Wife's '08 Eos just threw a P0299 code today. Glad to see the fix is relatively simple. Just a couple questions: how does oil get into that area? Is the turbo lubricated via the oil-pan? Just seems odd that oil would leak out of an intake area. Thanks.

    car threw the p0299/underboost code and this was the first thing i checked, as well as the waste gate arm(arm was nice and tight). when i removed the diverter valve, there was a small tear in the rubber diaphragm. thankfully oil was not leaking through to the point to where it may have damaged the connector. i cleaned out the electronic connector anyways/replaced the damaged valve with the newer metal piston configuration and it drives great again.

  • @TheArizonaAssasin
    @TheArizonaAssasin 6 лет назад +2

    Thanks for another great video. Do you think it's possible that oil in the DV connectors could cause a CEL and throw the P0299 code because the oil caused an electrical fault? I ask because my CEL has turned on 4 times in 6 weeks. I've replaced the PCV, the boost sensor, fixed a boost leak, inspected turbo and my car still got a CEL. So today the mechanic changed the diverter valve because there was oil in the connections. I'm just afraid of the CEL coming back on because all that's left is the turbo but the car runs smooth as per my RUclips videos. If I'm reading this service bulletin correctly, a diverter valve with oil in the connectors can trip the CEL with a P0299 but I wanted to know what you thought regarding that as a possibility. I've run out of things to fix with the P0299.

Re the pcv valve, there are often two models to choose from; one with a check valve built in, the other without (in which case the check valve is on the hose leading back to crank breather), are you sure you bought and fit the right one? I pulled the valve and see no tear but oil poured out of the plug. cleaned everything and put back in. then it misfired bad on no1 on next test. pulled plugs and all are dark but have white crud build up . definitely burning oil. with a fresh set of plugs it ran better and boosted once , charge values even at 1600. then I romped on it .. blue and black smoke bad. shut it off and restart 10 min later and Belched a building sized blue cloud. oil in tubing before throttle body, but also hisses and runs rough when I pull the oil cap off. I'm thinking I have turbo and pcv issues but wondering If u have any other testing advice before I scare the customer into trading it in

    I have a 1.8t Jetta mk6 ... I have no check engine light but I recently swapped coils & now my turbo spool sounds significantly louder & a bit of fluttering with a bit more of a bob noise when pressure is released. Is this in fact the stock diverter or is there any way to diagnose?

    Quick question I just installed my new Turbo DV. I noticed the o ring though. do I need to lube that with bearing grease or something? What would you use? Or do I need anything at all? Also should I use lock-tight on the screws when putting back in? Thanks so much!

    I wonder if there is a Toyota (or others) channel out there, I'd be interested to see how often their parts fail.

    • @benigo15
      @benigo15 9 лет назад +1

      nickolastiguan A channel on how toyota parts fail would be extremely boring because no parts really fail and if they do start failing enough it just becomes a recall.

      BenTheRandomGuy haha yeah, that is fair. my Toyota mechanic friend tells me that they have their own issues, but probably not as "interesting" as VW's.

    Decided to pull out my diverter valve after getting some bad acceleration and loud hissing. Nothing looks wrong, but it was a G type valve. Probably will order a new one and hope for the best.

      @@dtsuchiya9668 turns out my dad (who had previously worked on the car) had forgotten to connect the pipe that goes to the intake manifold correctly 😆. Still glad I replaced the valve though, it didn't look too great. Still was easy to replace and I recommend looking at it at least.

    I removed diverter valve and it was new piston type valve. One thing I noticed was that when i removed valve i saw spring was seperated from piston. I pushed it back in position but slight movement on valve popped the piston and spring out again. Is this normal behavior or DV or mine is broken

    Hey. HM so I got a 2016 Gli. Today I got the EPC light on the dash . Pulled up the scanner and got a P0299 code. I’ve noticed there’s some oil dripping on the passenger side. Wondering if there’s any upgrade you would recommend?? Rather than just replacing with another oem prt

    Can the diverter valve be in such bad shape that I get almost no boost until high rpm? The turbo spools way faster than it should barely pressing the gas and is pretty loud but the power just isn't there. I just picked this car up and fixed the terrible multiple misfires and it was running great for a few days now it's doing this. I am very mechanically I just have little to no experience with Volkswagens. Any help would be much appreciated

    So today I was driving my Volkswagen CC tuned and bolt on and when I shifted I felt the transmission jerk hard so I stopped at a red light and there was a light smell of fresh metal/plastic and when I tried to go on boost I heard this very loud psstttt noise, I have a Dv and it sounds nice and loud but this sound was different it made my heart hurt, what can it be

      Kinda sounds like your clutch but I’m not really sure. You should get a scan tool to diagnose the problem. Have you figured it out yet?

    I unplugged my connector and a bunch of oil came out and when I removed it, it had no tears. And I have a p0299 turbocharger under boost light. Do u think this is the cause to my check engine light? It still build boost fine. Peaked at 15 psi the held steady at 10 psi. Also I have an Audi A4 2.0t B7.

    Hi, I don't have the CEL but I am throwing code 000051 on my VAG-COM which is the turbocharger bypass valve malfunction/ open circuit. My car which is a 2.0 tsi is showing some of the symptoms you mentioned above about the 1.8 with the loud sounding like it has a blow off valve symptoms. Just wondering if you think this could be electrical or what I'm totally stumped.

    Whats better D or G? Because i have an golf 5 gti dsg edition30 and stage 2+ 370bhp and 550nm of torque. I have turbo flutter between 2700 to 3800. Like diverter valve on off on off on off. You know? My current valve is D. And i have ordered G. Some people tell me that this D revision have boost leak from brand new. Not much but it is there. What happend if i change the spring or stretch the spring on this diverter valve? For more strong spring. Sry for my bad English, iam German :)

    My touran 2L diseal asv has a stutter/flutter when I let off the power do the diseal suffer from something like this ? It also suffers from a shake at idle which I can see to get right and when it's first started in the morning I engage the clutch and it jumps jumps as if I'm wheel spinning lol then won't ever doing again all day but clutch flywheel everything seems fine so I'm suspecting on the lines of injectors or fuel temp sensor 🤔 hope you can shine some light onit 😅
