Today I went to a restaurant and ordered lamb chops. It wasn’t a very fancy place. I was over thinking at first, I love the meat close to the bone. I used my knife and fork to eat the bulk of the meat, when it got down to the bone I picked it up with two fingers on each end and bit the rest of the meat off the bone. I made sure to wipe my face and hold it low to the plate when I was chewing. It’s hard for me to imagine eating lamb chops without going right to the bone! Thank you for the video 😊

    Greetings from Estonia! 🇪🇪
You have acquired a new subscriber.
I have always maintained a profound mindfulness towards etiquette, as instilled by my mother and through my educational pursuits. There are instances when I find myself unsure about appropriate conduct, and this video has provided valuable assistance in this regard.
To be honest, my initial search was not for an etiquette video, but rather for guidance on handling inedible fatty pieces.
    Great video, thank you!

Heidi, thank you for the honest answer. I had lamb chops last night at a restaurant with my wife and I was a little self conscious halfway through the meal. This was a nicer restaurant for the town but more somewhat upscale casual. Blue jeans and collared shirts. I was so hungry, cutting calories and exercising all week and I was looking forward to this meal. I had to slice each rack into individual chops first and the bone tips were already stripped. I just went for it, picked them up by the stripped bone and enjoyed myself. So delicious. Just verifying that was ok. Hahaha

      Hey, Geo Mod,
Thank you for watching and for the super comments. It sounds like you handled everything perfectly! I love lamp chops, and when I can pick them up, I do it! Etiquette is about being kind and respectful, and reasonable. Be a kind person and if you want to pick up the lamb chops, go for it!
I'm sending very best wishes for a super day and lots of lovely dining with our wife in the future!
      Warm regards,

So at Fogo de Chao or other Brazilian Steakhouses I have to use knives and forks at all times?

Hello, Great question, and the answer is; have a little fun--these are fun restaurants, where the show if a big part of the meal. So, while I always recommend using your utinels, properly, there are times when you can let your hair down and have some fun-this I sone of them. Happy eating!💕

So I was at a restaurant and felt self conscious but really wanted to eat lamb as it was my favourite food as a child and these days I rarely get to eat it. I tried eating it with a knife and fork but felt clumsy and was wasting most of the meat but at the same time I didn't want to eat with my hands in front of everybody so I just decided the best thing to do was simply to eat them straight off the plate like a dog without using a knife and fork or my hands. After the initial screams and gasps of astonishment had died down people simply turned away and left me to it.

I want to have lamb rack at a pretty fancy restaurant for my birthday. Is it acceptable to use the fingers on the bones to lie it down to more easily cut it into lamb chops?

My grand uncle had a particular fondness for the sweetbread, the thymus of course, now ,before he advanced up a hostile hill, he always had a feed of sweetbread,a draught of local ale,an hurrah, wielding his scimitar, stolen from a deranged interloper to my great aunts boudoir, the noble Sir Algood brother of Sir Dickie Stickapopple charged up the hill, yes he was the most decorated Stickapopple,Military medal and double bar..
My chest swells with pride, yup, we're a brave lot, more medals the the August leader Daddai Amin ,leader for Life, who was awarded fifty four gongs mostly to himself ,,,hero indeed ! Apparently he also was very fond of a friend sweetbread,,!!who would have guessed !!

I really like you and hope to learn more about etiquette but I really hoped you were vegan, I don't know why, maybe because being a vegan is more civilized. Don't take this comment negatively, I really hope you succed, because you are teaching us important things that have a place in our society.

Thank you for your kind comment! I don't eat much meat at all--mostly fish, but rarely any red meat--a rare lamp chop "pop" when a dear chef friend grills them. My husband is a strict vegan and I mostly follow along with him--but, I will say, I love eggs--the hardest for me to give up! I agree a vegan lifestyle is much healthier.
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me! Please be so kind as to let me know anything videos you might like to see--I love suggestions! Maybe something vegan???
      Warmest regards,
      Heidi

@@HeidiDulebohn1 I feel very honored by your answer, i´m founding a social club, in Chihuahua city, Mexico. For low and middle low class Gentleman and ladies. We are Low-Class but that doesn't mean we cant empower our people by virtue of socializing ,following guidelines of etiquette and decency,to rebuild our social circles and have that physical space for being part of a social group. I would love to buy your coaching services, for me and the gentleman who are interested in helping me with the project sadly i don't have the money. I can only ask for something like a beginners basic course or book, basic guidelines for becoming people of Empathy, Empowerment and Etiquette.Things that people can do and learn even if they are low class to become Gentleman and ladies. People who value being social and social places but don't have that type of resources or culture to congregate ,many will be able to join this club. They have to be good and decent. That´s a fundamental aspect of this project.
In regards to the vegan aspect, i can only thank you for your honest answer and recommend to you " just egg", its a brilliant product ,maybe doing a video about recommended etiquette for eating an omelette at the same time. If you make a video talking about how to have etiquette for low class people that would be amazing too.
Hoping you had a great day and that you are well. (And you notice my improvement)
      Aspiring Gentleman,
      Eduardo Macias.

      Dear Eduardo,
Oh, thank you. Your kind words nearly bring tears to me because we believe the same thing. Etiquette is important to everyone, regardless of position or resources. I do lots of coaching and speaking, but I feel strongly, passionately, in fact, that every single one of us, on this planet, should be exposed to etiquette; the expected "rules" of behavior, to be empathetic people and empowered to spread respect and kindness to all. This is why I make all the videos--so everyone can have access to etiquette.
Etiquette, at its core, is merely about being respectful and kind to others, and it appears to me, that you embody that sentiment.
I wish you the very best of luck with your club. I am here to make videos that are helpful. Please let me know what topics will be helpful to you and your colleagues, and I will make them.
Perhaps, I can meet virtually with your club sometime and answer any questions you may have.
Meanwhile, thank you, Eduardo, for warming my heart.
      Kindest regards,
      Heidi
