Always did the "all four controllers hold Z" when my friends and I played Melee or Double Dash. Got us pumped up for a great match.

The 2 second one scared me, when I was 7 or 6, I was going to play smb2. Then I accidentally hold z for no reason, and then I heard the kids laughing, it scared the living crap out of me, and it was 12AM and I was alone in my room.

I didn't know there are different Nintendo GameCube startup sounds. I'll have to try the correct tricks to play the second one sometime since I only have two GameCube controllers. Nice job!

Yeah, I only knew about the Normal startup sound and the hold Z on 1 controller startup sound, I didn't know about the hold Z on 4 controllers startup sound. That's pretty cool! That would've been neat if they had done something different for holding down Z on 2 or 3 controllers too though, but it's all still cool either way.
I'm surprised they didn't remastered the GameCube by know it pretty underated and it probably the first Nintendo system to have online and it was better then ps2 online

Oh man, time for my "when I was 8 or 9" story:
When I was 8 or 9, I was in hospital for something (not important to the story) and on the kid's ward they had a Gamecube in the games room (this was about 2010ish and I'd never seen one before) but I'd heard of this trick, so when I realized I had Controller 1 I held Z when they turned it on and they looked at me like "how did you do that?"

When I was like 8 or 9 I had no idea about this trick and I must've pressed Z when starting up my gamecube because it made that noise and it scared the absolute shit out of me and I thought my GameCube was possessed or something lol

It was always cool. It also has a double meaning. Not only is the logo in the shape of a cube, but it also forms the letter G.

I miss my old Nintendo Gamecube. Had to get rid of it because it stopped reading disks. :( Loved that thing to death as a kid since I got it after 4th grade.
Game is always the best Nintendo console it had mortal kombat and other awesome titles man if they made some kind of next gen game cube that would be cool

I actually still got mine, but I lost most of my discs. The only two games that remain is Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (which I now realize sucks) and Viewtiful Joe 2 (I deleted my HM:AWL save in favour of VJ2, seriously, a 59-block memory card can only have either. AWL used 50 fucking blocks, while VJ2 only used 17...)

The normal one makes my insides melt. It reminds me of my childhood so much, Pokemon Colosseum, Matrix, Simpsons hit and run, Robots, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Golf, Super Mario Sunshine, Shrek and many more. I, my friends have just taken a trip down memory lane in explaining to you my childhood.

I grew up with the Wii and only bought GameCube games for it. The only Wii game I have is Mario Kart. Sadly I never got to experience the cool logo startup but I got to witness the chime.

I was going to play Double Dash with some friends, and when I got the one where you press Z on one controller, it scared all of us. We just stared in complete shock before asking the others if they heard that. Still one of my fondest memories.

The first game I played on GameCube was Sonic Mega Collection Plus. I was a really little kid when I played it during daycare.
Im sure that the first console i've got was a Nintendo 64 and Star Fox 64 was the first game i've ever played. Super mario 64 and LoZOoT are great games. Oh wait don't forget about Pokemon Stadium, Beetle Battle Racing, Scooby-Doo Classic Creep Capers, Star Wars EPISODE RACER, Space Invaders, Mario Kart 64, Bass Hunter 64, Tony Hawk's PRO SKATER, Superman 64, and Donkey Kong 64.

I miss my Gamecube so much. There was something so charming about it. The design, the startup, etc. Most of my childhood memories consist of the GCN. I have a Wii but playing a GCN game just... doesn't feel exactly the same.
Unfortunetaly, my dad thought "the cube thing" is broken so he threw it away...

If I ever get the oppertunity, I might buy a PAL GCN online just for nostalgic reasons.

I was not aware of the last one until I heard it in this video. It is amazing what you can find out a good number of years after no longer using a console. The GameCube certainly gave me a lot of positive memories anyway, though the Wii was the best due to its backward compatibility. I never really played any of the newer Nintendo game systems.

I had no idea this was a thing, getting this disk to work back then was the most exciting part of playing the game.
There is an extra version. If you turn on the GameCube and if you have the DK Bongos with you, the startup plays with ape sounds heard throughout.

i remember my brother and i thinking this was a freak accident when the second one popped up and we're like 'WOAH THAT HAS TO BE ONE IN A MILLION" but then it started doing it every time we turned it on... so we thought our gamecube was special. no. we just got something sticky on the z button.
The second start up always reminds me of Resident Evil Remake mainly because my brother always did that start up whenever he played that game.

Oh, that first intro bring back so many good memories of my childhood. I used to play consoles like SNES (usually Mario), the Ps2 or Ps1 (can't remember which one I played more), and of course, the gamecube. I would always play it with my cousin(s).

Damn it, such nostalgia. I'm now regretting letting a friend borrow my old Gamecube a couple months back because now I just want to turn that baby on and listen to it purr. Man that was one awesome console, mine once got thrown out a window and continues to work not much more worse for the wear to this day.
