NOLA girl here just trust me!!! Parkway bar and Tavern for a bomb shrimp poboy or any type of poboy (trust me), the Gumbo Shop for an amazing bowl of okra gumbo (or any kind of Gumbo if you're like me grab a grilled cheese from the children's menu to have with your gumbo, and glazed beignets from Antoine's Famous Cakes 😋😋😋 especially the glazed beignets!! I guarantee the tourist arent being told about those 😉
Never go to fancy places. Go to random small restaurants. The amount of times famous restaurants have let me down and not been worth the money far outweigh the amount of times I've enjoyed the food. You can get just as authentic, sometimes even better from those small shops. Also, ask locals which places are their favorite.
New Orleans , hell the whole state of Louisiana’s food! It don’t get no better din dat ! Born and bred in Louisiana and always one day closer to a heart attack from all the good things we have to eat 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Try a Ray Ray at Sammy's....Or heck just walk into any half-A** looking gas station around here and you will get some good food. You come to New Orleans prepare to eat.
The first one My old neighborhood Irish channel/Garden District I stay around the corner at 719 Philip Street for 26 years until my grandmother passed and all my aunts and mother was fighting over home And sold it in 2009 for pennies on the dollar they sold the house for 75k now the house is worth over 600k it’s a double shotgun. and had 4 Bed room, one bath on each side when we stay there with a nice big backyard.. I look at Google maps to go back and look at the old years of when we were staying there. Man man man I spent my childhood and early adult life in that house. a lot of memories that I truly miss. And this restaurant been there since I was a kid. that’s on magazine street and first Street. But that is not the same owners, but this spot has always been a café like restaurant.
I've been to Molly's once and Mason was there making pop tarts it made my entire day!! Watching "Chefs Night Out" by Vice was really the way to go. NOLA is one of my favorite food cities.
New Oreleans and the state is my favorite place to eat. Also ate at some bar in Beau Bridge or some such name? Not sure. Best gator I ever ate, live music was killer. This was the year of Katrina before it hit. I need to get back. Best food on earth.
When I was a kid, we'd evacuate to some family in coonass country for hurricanes. I still remember when we walked into my uncle's house for Katrina. Soon as the door opened we were hit with rabbit and deer gumbo. Shit was so good. The country store across the street had an absolutely beautiful 27 point buck on the wall, too.
Try Sarita's when you're uptown in New Orleans. They're closed on the weekend. But best Empanada you will ever taste. Home made salsa, everything on the menu is exceptional and the glasses are huge so get you a big glass of tea and prepare to be blown away.
Here's what's bananas I work around there and didn't know about the chicken sandwich and I walked past those oysters everyday. 😳 Thank you for reminding me of how amazing the food is in my amazing City of New Orleans. I'll have some gumbo for you when you come back
Jacque Imo’s is fantastic! They used to have a pickup truck table out front that is the best seat. You need to hit up Café Fleur De Lis for some shrimp and grits.
Keep eating in the Quarter. True locals don’t go to eat in the Quarter. That so called gumbo looked more gravy with shrimp in it. Parkway and Johnny’s are good po boys but not the best. I have heard many tourists complain about the large portions. I don’t know of a local New Orleanian that complains about large portions. We just take it home. New Orleans is the best place for food.
Thanks for coming to.our city. Hit some of these too: Dragos oysters Deanie's super seafood platter (Crawfish balls rule) Katie's oyster Schlesinger R&Os Special Poboy Bucktown Tags meat Market Hogshead cheese and a hot sausage Poboy in Chalmette while in the parish hit Rocky & Carlos get the Mac & cheese with red gravy. Everything there is awesome! Of course get you some Beignets at cafe Du Monde just to check off your bucket list. To me, they're the best! Parkway for Poboys too.
@@boogitybear2283it’s funny how Po Boys were made to be the poor man’s food. A Po Boy these days is $15 which is fucking ridiculous for what the sandwich is.
New Orleanian here, any time you choose a restaurant on Bourbon Street, you're flipping a coin. There's a clam man in a truck used to set up near Orleans and Claiborne, he'd blow ANY restaurant clam out of the water.
Nola resident if you’re looking to branch out from the classics and want good Italian Venezia’s off Carrollton is my pick been going there for 24 years so anyone traveling there that wants more then the classics you’re welcome

I was so disappointed by Molly's Rise and Shine when I went bro. I been there twice. First I tried the chicken biscuit, and it's just not for me. Not bad, but not good, either. Second I tried the ham plate, and it was just not good, at all. I wanna like the place, I really do, but I don't.
That chicken biscuit is the greatest breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had, couldn’t recommend more. Better than anything I’ve had living in the northeast and the northeast has phenomenal breakfast sandwiches
the same owner opened Mambo's around the corner on Bourbon - little better and nicer space (get your after coffee @ 3rd floor rooftop (views - awesome)
I found out very quickly that The food in the restaurants in the French quarters is just average, basic and over priced! It's for tourists that don't know any better! You have to leave the French quarters to get some real good food!

We don't usually eat in the Quarter. Sometimes we may, but it is too expensive, even when you tell them you are local and they give a slight discount.

Drago’s is pretty fire. They have the best chargrilled oysters. Also get the seafood pasta if you go there. Trust me.

Go to Galatoie's /Antoine's for dinner. Dress up, wear a coat or they won't let you in. Go to Acme for oysters. Johhny's Po Boys in the Quarter.
