Hey Jeff. Thx for providing the AR230 RUclips Bible - I've used your vids for a number of upgrades. Question - I just upgraded the battery from OEM to a dual battery set-up very much the same as yours. Once everything was hooked up again and running I noticed that the SB engine light came on and won't let me run "no wake zone". Otherwise the engine operates perfectly fine. Thoughts?
I have been fighting this myself. Mine is a little different and I am pretty sure I have a bad data cable/3 pin adapter. I have everything installed correctly and port set to Com 1 and looks fine until I plug the 3 pin into the diagnostic port with key on. Immediately I get a message pop up that says USB Device not recognized! If I unplug the 3 pin connector and plug back in to any USB port I get that error. I uninstalled everything and start over this time with the 3 pin adapter unplugged from the serial converter and computer recognizes the converter. I plug 3 pin adapter in and it still recognizes the converter. But as soon as I plug 3 pin into diag on motor, Bam! Unable to recognize USB Device! Very frustrating to spend that many hours to narrow it down to the 3 pin adapter. On a side note, software I purchased off Amazon loads but will fail when I click update database so it never shows 1.33 I downloaded the YDS software from the You Tube link above and the software updated to 1.33. My motors are 2012 so it should be fine. I also have the Can Doo diag tool and it works fine except it only allows me to activate the high pressure pump The YDS allows both high pressure and lift pump as I got the software to work a couple times. Very frustrating! I have a different serial adapter coming in Tuesday.
Jeff, Thanks for all the vids! I am a lot more comfortable with my recent purchase of a 2007 AR 230 because of you. A question.... What is the best way to determine port from starboard engine connection for the YDS?
When you bump the engine over to turn on the ecm(this is covered in the video), if you bump start the engine that is not connected to the YDS it will not communicate.
Looks like the YDS 1.33 version is not compatible with my 2017 Yamaha FX SVHO :( Cant seem to find the YDS 2.0+ software for purchase or download. Surely someone out there can assist. Thanks.
Jeff do you have to open the access ports on both sides of the boat to do this or can you just open up one side and the port and starboard wires are there?
We’ve followed what you did but the YDS is not connecting. Any suggestions? The computer or the YDS is not properly communicating. We changed the COM port to 1.

I am sure on that. If you have a Yamaha dealer close by I would just ask their service dept and see if they the YDS is used across the board on their 4 stroke engine for certain years. If you find out post up a comment and let us know if you could.

It blinks 6 times stops than blicks 8 times then repeats itseilf. # question just started the starboard went to shut engine down turned key switch to off engine not stopping had to shut down the battery switch to off. Than when I turn on battery switch engine attempts to start. Im think bad key switch. Hope you can help me. Rich
Jeff I see a question I bought the software and cable on amazon from Brand: TIKSCIENCE . I 'keep getting a communication error. I can access the scan tool in the offline mode but it doesn't give me any diagnostic information. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Any help to why its not showing

This only works up to 2017 model as far as I know. Not sure what you will need to get. Sorry

Both port and starboard connector are on the port side, just like in the video.

Same for me. I got the program downloaded and updated properly but it won’t connect to the engine. Just gives an error message.

I believe it's called vessel view. That's all I know about it.

does this work for the newer 2021 boats also?
I think the 2021 boats are already above and beyond for noise damping. In 2015 Yamaha made a big change to quite everything down.
