I wonder if you could burn the crud off and reuse the old one? Howmany years do you get on these sensors mine was done 2 years ago and is messing up again.
Because it was just an O2 sensor would you have harmed the engine if you continued driving like you normally would? Let’s say it took 3 weeks to get the part could you still have driven the boat for those 3 weeks while waiting for the part? Or did the motor go into limp mode and stay there until you replaced the O2 sensor?
This is a really good question about limp mode and I actually think it did go into limp mode during a trip down the West Side trolling now that I think about it. It was on the way back and we had been trolling for hours at 6 - 10 mph and I felt the motor go down in power. Still maintained speed to stay on plane but it was struggling. Wide Open throttle had a deep throated rumble but no pick up in speed and it ran better with less throttle. After the part came in and was installed I've never had that symptom.
I think it would be best to make a quick call to a dealer and ask the Svc depth their opinion on it. The O2 regulates fuel richness and you would not want to go to far lean or rich. Over rich. If memory serves, an over rich condition will ruin a catalytic converter with prolonged use. Good Luck
Aloha, good call. I'm in the process of changing out my 3rd sensor. Probably done this weekend. My past experience is that it takes a few start ups for it to clear on its own.
Hey do you get check engine then engine over heating code? But its not over heating i can idle as long as i want with no alarms but as soon as i move the throttle up it sounds off.. any idea?
Aloha, Yes it was online at one time. It's gone now. The link was removed. Someone may put it back up though. The best way to search for it is to go to your boats year on an OEM parts search and find the Service Manual's product number, copy it and run a search for it. That's how I found mine. Good Luck.
i'm assuming you mean what the code number means and not how to find the code number on the boats Tach LED readout. If a google search will not yield what the code number means, contact Yamaha Customer Service and ask them. I did this to confirm what i found online. If that doesnt work contact a dealer and give them the code number. If you are indeed looking at how to find the code on the boats Tach look at Episode 43. Good Luck!
What a blast! This weekend thank you for the amazing trip on your wicked yamaha!
Good Morning!
Yeah it was an excellent day! Glad you both had a good time. Let me know when you are up for another!

Do you think you could heat and burn the crudd off the old sensor? Seems they corrode and don't last long.

Hi Scott! Same issue here - I’m on the big island. Does the code automatically clear once fixed?

I have the same issue. Did you figure it out?
thanks for the video. Where did you find the online service manual? Was it free?

How did you read the code?
