You may want to clock the index plate clockwise 120 degrees to put the strait line of holes with number circles stamped at the top. Helps with sanity check when you complete a full circle cut and come home to start and stop at the top hole.

I’ve go the same super spacer and dividing plate set. Had them for several years now and since getting it I don’t use my old dividing head anymore. This is always on the end of the bench, has the chuck mounted and the dividing plates only take a couple minutes to install. Love it!

I did mine about 10 years ago. It works great. I didn't know Vertex had a kit so I took at chance and bought a kit from Grizzly that bolted right up to my vertex. The large hole thru the center of the vertex comes in handy around here for doing shafts and stuff easier. The segment on the vertex is much nicer than the black steel segment grizzly had, but still functional.

Hi there, awesome video, glad it's on youtube to show people how these tools work. This is a fairly minor point but what you have here is a super indexing spacer, not a super spacer. A super spacer doesn't have the worm drive handwheel so you can't cut with the mill at the same time that you're rotating, so you can't mill an arc or curve. Very cool to add on the dividing head capacity to the super indexing spacer, that eliminates one of its big weaknesses. Cheers and best regards!

Stan, I have the same Vertex as yours. Thanks to this video I now need to order The accessory kit. Had no idea you could buy a kit that just bolted right on. Very cool, thanks for sharing this video. Gary

Now I am curious how this would work on my rotary table as a retrofit. You gave me food for thought. 🙂

You might be lucky and find a Vertex kit to suit your Rotary Table ??
IF you have a large Rotary Table 10" (250mm ) or larger the same kit that Stan has here could possibly fit ??
This kit will fit 10" to 16" Vertex Rotary Tables and Both the 6" and 8" Super Spacers.
All the best with your retrofit. 👍

@@weldmachine it’s a 36” table and it looks close but I think I would need to make a mounting hub. Main thing is I would have to make sure the ratio is the same.

Thats awesome to have the ability to use it as a dividing head and super spacer. Wish I had use for my old Kearny Trecker dividing head. If you know anyone looking for one let me know.

Appreciate the video. I inherited a super spacer and some dividing head parts. Until now I had no idea how to install the dividing head parts. I'll be in the shop tomorrow converting mine. I'll still need a chuck and tailback for a working setup.

Nice! I've always kinda wanted a super spacer.....but I already have a rotary table with dividing plates (& tailstock), and a dividing head. They felt like additions that I just had to have; but I haven't used either a whole lot.

I just dug out my dividing head/super spacer I bought at auction 9 or so years ago and don't know the brand. Stan your video has perfect
timing as I'm disassembling, removing chips and cleaning. This thing must weigh at least 400 lbs, has a 12" chuck, 17.5" L x 12" W
pivoting base that tilts 0 to 90 degrees, 90:1 ratio with plain indexing dividing plates. I bought it site unseen and had no idea how
massive it is. I'm hoping to use it on my Bridgeport to cut gears. Definitely going to need the engine lift to mount it on the table if it will
fit. If anyone knows what make this could possibly be, please reply with a comment. I would consider selling it and getting something
    more manageable.

I believe the hole plates are double sided ie with two plates you get four plates worth of hole patterns.

Vertex is high quality in my book.
Perhaps no Keys for tailstock so you make them yourself to suit the Tee Slots of the Machine that you intend to use it on.

The parts fit up slicker than deer guts on a doorknob. Satisfying when something actually fits like it should.
