I've never noticed that he's the only one to call him smajor... also Skizz was pretty surprised it felt like in episode one that the group is called Gem and the Scott's knowing Impulse wants to remain Impulse and not Scott.
Mumbo's police story was hilarious, I can't imagine what was going through the officer's mind. ALSO HOLY MOLY I didn't know Impulse and Skizz's names. To me they will always be Impulse and Skizz.
To be honest with me their names to me is like what technos face was pre death have I seen it yep do I know what it looks like not a clue the names they said it forgot skiz before imp said his followed by imps name 20 seconds later then again I also worked with someone for 6 months thinking of him as old mate because I forgot it on the first day and didn’t want to ask again
My conclusion from the comments: 4-5 people didn't realize that Grian isn't Grian's real name, Andy fits Skiz but Impulse looks like a: Steve, Stevan/Stephan, Sean, Brian, and Mike. People are very interesting. Also, if Impulse wasn't comfortable with his real name being known, that clip would have been cut out. They have the capability to do that.
I'm imagining it being his real name and like when he got married his wife having to say it. Also he did pick a very him name to go by 😂. The second Impulse was like it begins with S I thought Steve too!
honestly I could see it happening just in the fact that with my name (danielle or dani) sometimes i know they are talking to someone else ( like there is a daniel or danny in my math class) I still will respond.
I love the mental image of the kid in Switzerland riding home in the Alps just crossing paths with Mumbo and unknowingly causing such inspiration. That's life, isn't it? All of us living in our own little niches, and then these profound moments of encountering each other. Imagine if that kid got home and pulled up some Minecraft videos to relax after school.
I agree I was so touched by his being that vulnerable. I think the guys understood the gravity and didn't want to make him feel pressured. But I would have loved to hear accolades for Oli's (Mumbo's) bravery and honesty.
I feel like food addiction isn't accepted as an issue at all. If you're having problems eating too much/binge eating or other things then it's your fault for having no self controll, and you're stupid and lazy. I guess it's the thing with humans in general. If you're not having a problem with a spesific thing then others shouldn't either, and if they do they themselves are the problem. They don't see that they have issues with other stuff, that other people might think is weird. I wish we could just understand that even though we're not going through the same things as someone else we can still try to understand that they are having a hard time and needs someone to be there for them. I'm so glad that Oli dared talking about it!
i can really relate to that "can i figure out an excuse to donate money so i can have some junkfood". i've been trying to quit smoking for 10 yrs and do that to myself every time i'm under a lot of stress. i've known several gambling addicts that, "well, i don't want to gamble all the time - just when the opportunity presents itself" and alcoholics past the time when they even bother trying to rationalize it anymore. addiction is an awful thing whatever you're addicted to.
I've also struggled with food and knowing that Oli, someone I respect so much for many of the same reasons Skizz admires him, also struggles with it... the emotion that Oli has when talking about it hits so hard and so close to home. I hope that it gets easier on him.
I love how Skizz just drops in the "it's called retrograde interference." and no one bats an eye! Also I love when people's names fit their personality and Andy fits!
Hate to be the nerd here, but if you're talking about the actual/ old names getting in the way of remembering the new/ minecraft names, it would actually be proactive interference, not retroactive. Not trying to be a hater. It's just what I study. Sorry!
OK. I don't want "the reveal" to overshadow the fact that this was an AWESOME Part 2 with Mumbo. Already loved Mumbo, and seeing this side of him made me like him that much more! Thanks Imp and Skizz for making this happen!
You're right, the IRL backstory puts a whole new light on that story arc. Storytelling and the creative process can be a really powerful way to work through our issues.
I finally understand why your Secret Life alliance was called "Gem and the Scotts" lol. When Gem mentioned that you were both Scott, I was like "What is she talking about? Only Smajor is Scott." LOL

As someone who struggles with binge eating, hearing Mumbo talking about the 'food negotiations' just hit home. Knowing I'm not the only one who has those thoughts and responses is somewhat comforting. Keep going Mumbo, I believe in you and I'm so glad you're in a better place. Thank you for being such an inspiration for everyone. 💓
i don’t know if i could love mumbo’s energy more :) he’s a little bit giggly and goofy, but at the same time you can tell how introspective and genuine he is. i so appreciated his reflections on ‘hating everything you make’ and some other little clips where he’s talked about his struggles with the concept of creativity. genuinely, with some of the insight and knowledge he’s shared, i can hardly believe that he’s only 28! i am genuinely such a fan of his films and photography (for many reasons other than the fact that he is mumbo haha) and he’s such an inspiration of mine :) thank you, imp and skizz, for these episodes! but mumbo also has the most calming voice/accent so maaaybe i’m a little biased hahah (i could listen to him read the terms and conditions of a chromebook and would do it willingly)
REAL to everything you said especially the last one like bro could read the phone book but as long as he's passionate about it I would listen for hours
I’ve struggled with food my entire life, both binging and restricting, and hearing that Oli struggles with binging too kinda shook me since BED is one of the less acknowledged eating disorders
Wow, I continue to be impressed at how emotionally intelligent Skizz is. You handled Mumbo's moment of vulnerability perfectly. Thank you. I genuinely appreciate this podcast.
I just love how down to earth all your guests are. Fame, notoriety, recognition... just doesn't matter. They just come across as such lovely human beings.
I so get Mumbo's reference to the process of hating everything you create. I took a creative writing course in college and the professor talked about "sometimes you have to kill your darlings". It may be the scene that inspired you to create the whole story in the first place, but in the process of evolving the story in the end you just have to cut it. Great episode guys, i really enjoyed it. Great name bomb release too!
"on the trip you have a clear direction, then you go home and get hit by the question, what is your direction in life?" this was so beautiful, thank you
Nobody expected the name drop! But to be honest, in my head you both will always be Imp and Skizz :D Also, Mumbo is just such a wholesome person! Very mature for such a young age! I love when you have guest, because we get to know a whole other side of them. Thank you for such an amazing episode :D
*in the voice of Skizz* They just put that name-bomb out there like NOTHING! GREAT episode, Mumbo seens like a such down to earth kind of guy, it's hard to believe he is not in his 40s!
Every week I think THIS one is my favorite podcast episode and it’s happened again with this week’s offering. Skizz, you nailed it at the end by telling Oli what a good dude he is. Thanks Impulse and Skizzleman for bringing such joy to my day, week after week. 💞
I am not totally sure, it might be that he mentioned his first name on a stream once. At least i am sure, that he mentioned before, that "SV" are his initials 🙂
Lucky I’m very bad with names. I will only remember Impulse and Skizz. I did see Impulse hesitating. For me I will always respect the privacy they want to keep and using an aliasname will creates some form of seperation. So let’s all forget and only use their creative names.
We've also known them as Impulse and Skizzleman for long enough where we default to referring to them by their online aliases, which helps out with maintaining that distinction for sure. Was cool to hear their real names as a fun fact but I agree that continuing to call them by their creative names will be best for their comfort and privacy
@@Emancyphur Skizz revealed his first name a couple years ago on Twitter, but because he is always referred to as Skizz or Skizzleman everywhere else, I never really thought about it again until today.
Biking across Europe would be extraordinarily different from biking across the US, especially across places like Arizona, where Imp and Skizz live. In most of Europe, you can go 20 km in any direction, and you'll go through a village or two. In the US, you could go 50 miles and maybe pass an abandoned gas station.
Excellent episode today. Mumbo is such an awesome character and to hear his story and see a more vulnerable side is such an epic privilege. Also I just wanna say thank you for the trust you have shown us with sharing your first names, I know that's not a decision you made lightly and I can appreciate the value you both put on your privacy.
4:52 Iskall is Iskall. Awww. Gosh, I hope they begin to collab again. I really miss them on HC together. Mumbo & Iskall have got that magic chemistry that neither of them share with anyone else and it’s been sorely lacking since mid season 7. ***** This was one of your best interviews. Mumbo is endlessly interesting with many facets. I really enjoyed hearing more about the biking - I can’t believe Vicky’s third time on a bike was biking across Europe. What a feeling to have your partner alongside for the ride, literally. I’m also thankful to Mumbo for being so vulnerable with sharing his food addiction struggles and how he tried to gamify it. I hope he’s in a better place now but that’s a constant thorn in your side when you need to eat to live. :( Lastly, hearing a little more about the values Mumbo has made him more of a real person to me. I know that feeling where you want to be doing something with your life that aligns with your values. It’s what propelled me out of the oil & gas industry and into healthcare and I’ve never looked back. Being fulfilled and knowing you make a difference every day through your work is a privilege. I’m glad Mumbo’s got to that point.
That scene from Signs was brilliant because it didn’t tell you what was going on, not just downstairs, but even right next to you. By having our view frozen in place with no movement, it gave us the experience of being so scared that we were unable to move.
I love Mumbo so much he was the first person I’ve EVER subscribed to. I started watching him when I was five years old, he’s helped me through so much and I’ve been with him since the beginning
Mumbo talking about food addiction hit home hard for me. It isn't something many people realize is a thing unless they're desperately trying to fight against it, and man can it all come snowballing back down on you in a heart beat.
one thing I noticed in the behind the scenes of "The Making of The Steal" on the Kris and Jack channel, is that Oli's house had hooks, rig set ups and clips in the ceiling and so on that most people do not have. That was when I realized this guy certainly is ALL IN and I was just so impressed with that little glimpse. I have been looking forward to this conversation for a long time! Thanks Imp & Skizz for giving him the spotlight.
51:40 Mumbo talking about losing motivation as you start creating something and see the flaws in your ability is EXACTLY what I go through when building in Minecraft. Small projects, big projects especially, I end up hating it, setting it aside, then somewhere down the line coming back to it and being like “oh this isn’t so bad, what if I just add this?” And all of a sudden it gets finished. It’s a weird process but I guess me and him aren’t so different there.
I’ll always love hearing people talk about their passions, it brings me so much joy just to hear how happy and enthusiastic Mumbo is when talking about cinematography and his other hobbies! Brilliant episode as always, I can see Imp and Skizz both becoming more comfortable and natural with each episode, it’s a lovely journey to see
Hearing Oli talk about food addiction really hit hard personally, but the opposite with anorexia. I suffered for 6 years, and been trying to recover for 10+ years, and it is a very hard journey. I also totally understand Skizz and Mumbo about seeing films and catching certain parts. its the same with me and cartoons/animations/anime, as someone who does art, and for awhile thought about doing animation. The things that are caught when you know more behind the curtain is insane.
Andy and Scott. Reminds me, I saw someone who decided to fan cast the Life Series. Picking out actors to play each person based on appearance, acting experience and vibes. And the actor chosen to play Skizz was Andrew Scott, known for playing Moriarty in BBC’s Sherlock. And incase you wanted to know, Impulse was chosen to be played by Jack Black and Mumbo played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
@@petra._ It was on Tumblr but I didn’t save the link. I did however come up with my own that I saved on the notes app on my phone. Here you go: Scott - Bradley James If Jimmy looked at all like Colin Morgan I would bring Merthur back meshing it with the Flower Husbands. Skizz - Andrew Scott I saw someone else do this as a fan cast and it was just too perfect. I mean they have similar looks and I feel like Andrew Scott can perfectly play Skizz when he goes a bit mad and his more heartwarming moments. Also, Skizz’s real name is Andy and Impulse’s real name is Scott. Andrew Scott is the true Imp & Skizz actor. Scar - George Robinson I wanted it to be an actor who uses a wheelchair because that representation can be important. And he does look a decent amount like Scar if a bit younger. Grian - Freddie Highmore I feel like he is capable of doing the darker stuff as well as the more light hearted stuff that would come with this role. And just general vibes. Ren - David Tennant Ren would sometimes do some Scottish accents when acting so it would be nice to see David Tennant using his real accent rather than putting on an English one like he often has to. Joel - Paul Rudd Etho - Jeremy Renner Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renner are bros irl and from what I understand about their dynamic, it really fits with the Boat Boys, even if the ages are quite off. Jimmy - Thomas Brodie-Sangster I’m thinking a bit more of baby faced Jimmy in terms of the similarities of their looks. But I can also very much picture Brodie-Sangster playing the frustration of the Canary Curse very well. Martyn - Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo has the range to do all the acting Martyn’s character would have to do. And I think he sort of has the look to pull it off. Tango - Stanley Tucci I’ve begun to notice all the ages are off. But I just love Stanley Tucci and would love to see him with fiery hair. BDubs - ??? I originally had BDubs cast as Jim Howick. Purely because they share super similar vibes with their personalities. But someone pointed out to me that BDubs is mixed middle-eastern. And that if I was going for the wheelchair representation with Scar I should probably also do that with BDubs. Honestly, I don’t know enough mixed middle-eastern actors to choose here and I got kinda stumped. Some names I went over but none quite fit were Riz Ahmed, Oscar Isaac and Jon Bernthal. If you have any better suggestions I’m all ears. Impulse - Jack Black Fight me. Jack Black has raaaange. He can do anything. And I really feel like he could play Impulse really well. Especially with fake horns to complete the look. He would rock them. Cleo - Jodie Comer I feel like she can really encapsulate Cleo’s slightly arsonistic, revenge oriented side of her personality. Though makeup and a wig would definitely be necessary. BigB - Lakeith Stanfield I’m imaging the change in him when he’s the boogie being like Lakeith’s scene in Get Out. Mumbo - Benedict Cumberbatch I saw a picture of him with Mumbo’s stache and that sold it for me. Lizzie - Kiera Nightley Vibes. Pearl - Jenna Coleman She definitely has the ability to be 5am Pearl as well as just normal Pearl. And I can imagine her telling me to clean my room. The Watchers - Brian Blessed I just love his voice.
@@yusaki8064 thank you so much!! this is so kind of you!! i so agree with your bigb reasoning with the "get out" example! also ren as david tenant is somehow so perfect ahahah
@@petra._ I already had this all in the notes app on my phone. So it was just a copy paste. If you have any better suggestions for BDubs I’d be happy to hear your ideas.
Man Mumbo is like mirroring what I want to do, love photography/videography, but I never like what I post because there’s so much I could do better, love going out in nature, and biking, and I love food, maybe I should look into this RUclips stuff more seriously
Bro I'm tryna go to bed but I can't find a good spot to stop because its so dang interesting and entertaining. This is painfully entertaining and that is a job well done.
I've never shared this but your conversation about creativity was very nice to hear. I've spent years wanting to write this story that I've had in my head for even longer. Every time I go to write something down though I begin to doubt every word, every story line, and I become so frustrated and scared that I have never written down a word despite having so many in my head. While I can't make any promises I do really want to write something down now after hearing the conversation so thank you
I just want to let Mumbo know, it means a lot to me that he talked a bit about his issues dealing with food addiction, as he calls it. And it helps me to know, that someone as great as Mumbojumbo is also dealing with the same issues I have.
It's strange hearing real names of people who use alias'. The brain just doesn't want to accept their alias, even if a crazy gamer name, isn't their real name lol.
In my brain impulse on hermitcraft is a different impulse than when hes streaming other games, something about seeing his face but also his intonation is different
The alias is the character they've developed, it's a unique personality that's grown intentionally over the years of content creation. It's like the real name gets filed as a bit of trivia about someone, but the name we know is who they really are! There's thousands of Andys out there, only one Skizzleman! And some people are more into their character - alter ego - than others. It's not a fake personality, but only presenting parts of their personality and those parts are heightened. It just fits for these bright entertaining personalities to have a crazy gamer name!
Finally caught up with this. It's amazing to see how many different cameras there are and to really learn what each one does as it's not something I really ever thought to research. Mumbo's attempt to avoid unhealthy stuff by having to donate to a charity if he ate it really did scream "this is a bad way of going about food" when I saw his tweets at that time. Food addiction is as hard a thing to deal with like drugs/alcohol are, and as a food addict myself I can understand his struggle. I appreciate him talking about it so openly in this podcast.
Holy cow my mind is blown right now :o Edit: this is wild, i originally found out about impulse through mumbo, then skizz through impy. Now learning their irl names through mumbo is just so ironic
As someone just out of college, trying to find my way and which passions to focus on, it’s really comforting to know that someone who I thought had their life together is also going from a ‘post grad crisis.’ Your 20s are for learning about the world and yourself ❤
As an artist, i can confirm that the creative process does bring pain but also not all pieces are perfect. Ive been enjoying this podcast very much while i sit here and paint! ❤
the talk of the creative process was so interesting! im not into film, but i write and it goes exactly the way mumbo says lol before you start its beautiful, then you hate it, then you like it, then you hate it again and eventually its beautiful again. great episode!
found myself openly crying through the last 15 or so minutes of this episode; it's been so encouraging and so beautiful to hear about the universal human creative passion and creative struggles, something i relate to heavily both as an artist and a writer, and the three of you provided such wonderful insights into your own struggles and directions and godddd it was so encouraging to listen to the part about every human being immensely creative, just getting so stuck in their own ideals of what a "creative person" looks like -- i see that so much with some of my friends who dismiss their creations so quickly bc they're comparing themselves to others or are struggling to pass that perfectionist/idealist barrier in their brains, and it drives my up the wall -- but i do the same thing!! it's such a universal struggle that can only be overcome with passion and practice, and im going to hold on to the passion that you guys have expressed here for your own creative projects and use it to inspire me once more :'] im gonna go cry some more now, but thank you for these two episodes, and thank you mumbo for being so goddamn lovely
“goddamn lovely” is the most accurate description i’ve ever heard for mumbo! also, i really connected with your comment (which is beautifully written, might i add) and the struggle between creativity and comparison. big crier over here too hahah
I always saw myself as a creative person and I have these massive projects I want to start and then don't because I'm scared I'm gonna hate it. Seeing that some of my favourite CC also struggle with this definitely helps❤❤
This podcast gave me a new appreciation for Skizzleman. When i first came across Skizz's minecraft stuff, probably one of the last life series, I didn't quite mesh with his style for whatever reason, but this episode demonstrates some serious interview skills on his part! He had some very insightful questions and a high degree of emotional intelligence. Good stuff guys!
1:03:35 I'm listening to it now after traveling around the world for almost 2 years and coming back home and settling in a place again, I've been asking myself the same question, because having a no-sense of direction is so daunting whilst traveling it was a simple straight forward line, from one city to another, from one country to the next one. Now it's been almost a year and I am still, at times, finding myself questioning. Traveling really opened my eyes.
SCOTT? Not Steve? Oh, man, my brain just glitched... if I ever learn Tango's real name, I might just have a full stroke 😂 I never really knew the difference between cinematography and camera operation, but as Oli explained it, I realize it's quite similar to game development. Camera operators are like the programmers/developers, while cinematographers are like the game designers.
Im listening to this as im painting black over apiece i had started a year or two ago, these Mumbo episodes have honestly been inspiring. Knowing that this kid is so incredibly talented and sure in who he is and what his talents are is very cool (i am 20 years old, i have no business calling mumbo or anyone else for that matter). This was great, thanks guys :)
I'm so happy that we finally get to hear Mumbo ramble on about his interests, I remember him apologizing on his endbusting streams for going off on tangents like this and I always felt bad for him. But I'm glad he gets to talk about it now!
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your podcast. I binged listed to like 20 episode this past week, and it's been amazing so far. You two are amazing and every second is a pleasure. 😊

I can see Skizz as Andy, but Scott??? Have you ever got confused with Smajor? I love this podcast so much. I always learn something new and get inspired to do things. Thank you guys
In any artform there is that criticism of your own work that I'm pretty sure every creative experiences. I'm genuinely convinced that Bob Ross's "happy little accidents" phrase came about because that's how he learned to love the things that in his eyes were flaws. Everyone of us has that with our work and it's always wonderful to have someone else telling you that it's okay to have that voice and it's okay to make those mistakes and learn from them. I'm glad to be hearing that more often and to see that you guys have that too!
the point about everyone is creative is so just keep going is so true, my partner always says she isn't an "artist" because she can't draw, but she runs a fibre business and creates amazing colours by hand without any idea of what ratios she uses etc and can repeat it over and over so i always kinda joke with her saying she is an artist she just doesn't know it, recently she tried her hand at creating some felted wool eggs (think dragon eggs or dragon ball Z style balls but out of fibre) she still said she wasn't an artist, entered a local craft fair show and came 2nd with them, then this past week sold ALL of them, she now believes me when i say she is creative and is an artist
Wow! This was such an awesome episode of your podcast. I loved seeing this side of Mumbo. I've never really given it a thought, but you guys will always be Imp and Skizz in my mind. It's the same for people I know from online, with whom I've always used their nicks. It just makes sense
Another amazing podcast for my Friday. Y’all may not be philosophers, but each podcast you touch on one part of the Philosophy of Life, and you do it in a way that everyone can understand and take into their lives. Thank you.
This was a fantastic one. To see how excited and passionate mumbo is about his film making is inspiring. Your all so creative and it's so lovely to see you guys chatting and letting us ( the audience) into your lives. Thankyou again for another wonderful podcast. ❤
First time learning your names so let me just say, it's a pleasure to meet you. :) It's fantastic hearing all the behind the scenes stuff from all of you.
Talking about the creation process really spoke to me. I make cover songs on another channel and every time I start making one, I end up hating the finished product. So much that I don’t like it when my friends and family watch it when I’m in the room and I refuse to listen to most of the songs that I’ve covered. Not because I’m not proud of what I’ve made, I’m very proud, but like Mumbo said, it never lives up to how you see it in your head. I’m very much ok with the fact that I hate everything I create, but it is extremely comforting to know that I’m not the only one. Thank you for this one❤️
21:00 So that is what is going on XD We sometimes hear Hermits joke that Mumbo is so hard to get a hold of, or never joins meetings. And I always assumed he just prioritized different things (which is totally fine), but this makes total sense.
"sometimes get hit with the issue of choice", i love this, This is the reason i still use iPods, it forces you to love music more, my favorites the ipod nano 7th gen. everybody should have this with their hobby or passion, it makes you love it so much more.
This was such a wholesome episode to watch. Thank you for the great content. I love learning about people's creative and thought processes. Mumbo Jumbos worldview is super interesting, insightful and also inspiring.
Wow. So insightful about the creative person's self doubt. I feel better about my own self doubt (not that I have anything close to the public art that you make) Thanks for sharing. Such a fantastic interview.

Hearing Oli talk about food addiction was so real. Thanks for being so honest about that Mumbo, it helps others feel less alone
Yeah it hits hard, food addiction is rough
Yes! I was like, "It *is* called retroactive interference! Skizz-Andy with the random psychology facts!" 😂
I was going to guess Impulse was named George and Skizz was named Frank
@@Werewolf914 frank oddly fits skizz as well
tho i thought impulse was more of a jason or something, but scott fits too
Hate to be the nerd here, but if you're talking about the actual/ old names getting in the way of remembering the new/ minecraft names, it would actually be proactive interference, not retroactive.
Not trying to be a hater. It's just what I study. Sorry!
@@jackiemaass5425 I love it! So then retroactive is the opposite! :)
OK. I don't want "the reveal" to overshadow the fact that this was an AWESOME Part 2 with Mumbo. Already loved Mumbo, and seeing this side of him made me like him that much more! Thanks Imp and Skizz for making this happen!
Thanks for Scott and Andy for being awesome!
oh man, I didn't realize the Peace Love and Plants loophole thing was so personal
Thank you, Mumbo, for trusting your audience with this
You're right, the IRL backstory puts a whole new light on that story arc. Storytelling and the creative process can be a really powerful way to work through our issues.
I finally understand why your Secret Life alliance was called "Gem and the Scotts" lol. When Gem mentioned that you were both Scott, I was like "What is she talking about? Only Smajor is Scott." LOL
BRUH. gem said “you’re Scott and your Scott, so gem and the Scott’s!”
@@Shortnamesareoverratedwhen Gem said that, I didn't understand why she was saying that. I didn't realize she was sharing impulse's real name at the time lol. I need these things spelled out for me
That actually finally makes sense!! I always felt bad that impulse wasn’t mentioned in the name! 😂
OHHHHH WAIT!!!! I didn't even realize that!! That's so funny omg
It also explains why Skizz always calls them Smajor and Impulse

Thank you! Posts like this and the lyrics to songs are genuinely the unsung backbones of our society
Thanks for timestamps as these will make this video more interesting to watch.
I still see comments related to Smajor.
lmao 21st century problems
i don’t know if i could love mumbo’s energy more :) he’s a little bit giggly and goofy, but at the same time you can tell how introspective and genuine he is. i so appreciated his reflections on ‘hating everything you make’ and some other little clips where he’s talked about his struggles with the concept of creativity. genuinely, with some of the insight and knowledge he’s shared, i can hardly believe that he’s only 28! i am genuinely such a fan of his films and photography (for many reasons other than the fact that he is mumbo haha) and he’s such an inspiration of mine :) thank you, imp and skizz, for these episodes!
but mumbo also has the most calming voice/accent so maaaybe i’m a little biased hahah (i could listen to him read the terms and conditions of a chromebook and would do it willingly)
I’m the same way as you :’) it feels good to not be so alone
Wow, I continue to be impressed at how emotionally intelligent Skizz is. You handled Mumbo's moment of vulnerability perfectly. Thank you. I genuinely appreciate this podcast.
I just love how down to earth all your guests are. Fame, notoriety, recognition... just doesn't matter. They just come across as such lovely human beings.
I'm sorry, I can't call you guys Andy or Scott or Olli. You're still Mumbo/Impulse/Skizz.
I'm so used to Scott being Dangthatsalongname and Oli being OrionSound
Same I wonder if @TheOrionsound and @Danthatsalongname know they share a name with these guys
Maybe they need to do a 2v2 challenge
@@prateekkalle2474Scott likely knows, as he sends out the MCC coins

Just seeing Olis webcam picture shows how much more advanced he is. Perfect Color grading for a cinematic look
So fascinating hearing Mumbo talk about his filmmaking work
I so get Mumbo's reference to the process of hating everything you create.
"on the trip you have a clear direction, then you go home and get hit by the question, what is your direction in life?"
this was so beautiful, thank you
Nobody expected the name drop! But to be honest, in my head you both will always be Imp and Skizz :D
Also, Mumbo is just such a wholesome person! Very mature for such a young age! I love when you have guest, because we get to know a whole other side of them. Thank you for such an amazing episode :D
*in the voice of Skizz*
They just put that name-bomb out there like NOTHING!
GREAT episode, Mumbo seens like a such down to earth kind of guy, it's hard to believe he is not in his 40s!
So... when do we get the Skizz hikes to the bottom of the Grand Canyon movie directed by Mumbo?
Yessss
Every week I think THIS one is my favorite podcast episode and it’s happened again with this week’s offering. Skizz, you nailed it at the end by telling Oli what a good dude he is. Thanks Impulse and Skizzleman for bringing such joy to my day, week after week. 💞
Is this the first time Impulse dropped his name? This is so cool!
I think so, yeah, super interesting and I can imagine him playing with Smajor and hearing everyone calling Scott and doing a double take :O
I am not totally sure, it might be that he mentioned his first name on a stream once. At least i am sure, that he mentioned before, that "SV" are his initials 🙂
The SV are his initials thing has been mentioned many times during livestreams. I don't know if he's ever revealed his name before this.
Not the first time, he dropped it casually in one of his first MC series. The one he did with his son, I think.
I know Skizz dropped his irl name on a Twitter post a few years ago, thanking the team he coached for their end of season appreciation.
Lucky I’m very bad with names. I will only remember Impulse and Skizz. I did see Impulse hesitating. For me I will always respect the privacy they want to keep and using an aliasname will creates some form of seperation. So let’s all forget and only use their creative names.
I also respect people privacy so I still would call them as there fake name
Well said!
I’ve known Skizz’s name for years now but finding out Impulse’s name is wild to me. He’s always been so private with it
4:52 Iskall is Iskall. Awww.
Gosh, I hope they begin to collab again. I really miss them on HC together. Mumbo & Iskall have got that magic chemistry that neither of them share with anyone else and it’s been sorely lacking since mid season 7.
*****
This was one of your best interviews.
Lastly, hearing a little more about the values Mumbo has made him more of a real person to me.
The food addiction talk was so relatable and real. Thank you Oli for the vulnerability. ❤

Nice to meet ya! I think I like Oli even more than I like Mumbo. What a cool guy
one thing I noticed in the behind the scenes of "The Making of The Steal" on the Kris and Jack channel, is that Oli's house had hooks, rig set ups and clips in the ceiling and so on that most people do not have.
And incase you wanted to know, Impulse was chosen to be played by Jack Black and Mumbo played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
ooh! where could i find this fan cast?
@@petra._ It was on Tumblr but I didn’t save the link. I did however come up with my own that I saved on the notes app on my phone. Here you go:
Scott - Bradley James
If Jimmy looked at all like Colin Morgan I would bring Merthur back meshing it with the Flower Husbands.
Skizz - Andrew Scott
I saw someone else do this as a fan cast and it was just too perfect.
Scar - George Robinson
I wanted it to be an actor who uses a wheelchair because that representation can be important. And he does look a decent amount like Scar if a bit younger.
Grian - Freddie Highmore
I feel like he is capable of doing the darker stuff as well as the more light hearted stuff that would come with this role. And just general vibes.
Ren - David Tennant
Ren would sometimes do some Scottish accents when acting so it would be nice to see David Tennant using his real accent rather than putting on an English one like he often has to.
Joel - Paul Rudd
Etho - Jeremy Renner
Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renner are bros irl and from what I understand about their dynamic, it really fits with the Boat Boys, even if the ages are quite off.
Jimmy - Thomas Brodie-Sangster
I’m thinking a bit more of baby faced Jimmy in terms of the similarities of their looks. But I can also very much picture Brodie-Sangster playing the frustration of the Canary Curse very well.
Martyn - Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo has the range to do all the acting Martyn’s character would have to do. And I think he sort of has the look to pull it off.
Tango - Stanley Tucci
I’ve begun to notice all the ages are off.
Impulse - Jack Black
Fight me. Jack Black has raaaange. He can do anything. And I really feel like he could play Impulse really well. Especially with fake horns to complete the look. He would rock them.
Cleo - Jodie Comer
I feel like she can really encapsulate Cleo’s slightly arsonistic, revenge oriented side of her personality. Though makeup and a wig would definitely be necessary.
BigB - Lakeith Stanfield
I’m imaging the change in him when he’s the boogie being like Lakeith’s scene in Get Out.
Mumbo - Benedict Cumberbatch
I saw a picture of him with Mumbo’s stache and that sold it for me.
Lizzie - Kiera Nightley
Vibes.
Pearl - Jenna Coleman
She definitely has the ability to be 5am Pearl as well as just normal Pearl. And I can imagine her telling me to clean my room.
The Watchers - Brian Blessed
I just love his voice.
@@yusaki8064 thank you so much!! this is so kind of you!! i so agree with your bigb reasoning with the "get out" example! also ren as david tenant is somehow so perfect ahahah

While I can't make any promises I do really want to write something down now after hearing the conversation so thank you
Guys, this episode is giving me the FEELS. Thank you. ❤
Holy cow my mind is blown right now :o
Edit: this is wild, i originally found out about impulse through mumbo, then skizz through impy. Now learning their irl names through mumbo is just so ironic
Gentlemen, this was, absolutely, spiffing.
Absolutely terrific, wholesome and entertaining content.
the talk of the creative process was so interesting! im not into film, but i write and it goes exactly the way mumbo says lol before you start its beautiful, then you hate it, then you like it, then you hate it again and eventually its beautiful again. great episode!
found myself openly crying through the last 15 or so minutes of this episode; it's been so encouraging and so beautiful to hear about the universal human creative passion and creative struggles, something i relate to heavily both as an artist and a writer, and the three of you provided such wonderful insights into your own struggles and directions and godddd it was so encouraging to listen to
the part about every human being immensely creative, just getting so stuck in their own ideals of what a "creative person" looks like -- i see that so much with some of my friends who dismiss their creations so quickly bc they're comparing themselves to others or are struggling to pass that perfectionist/idealist barrier in their brains, and it drives my up the wall -- but i do the same thing!! it's such a universal struggle that can only be overcome with passion and practice, and im going to hold on to the passion that you guys have expressed here for your own creative projects and use it to inspire me once more :']
im gonna go cry some more now, but thank you for these two episodes, and thank you mumbo for being so goddamn lovely
“goddamn lovely” is the most accurate description i’ve ever heard for mumbo! also, i really connected with your comment (which is beautifully written, might i add) and the struggle between creativity and comparison. big crier over here too hahah
@petra._ ahh I'm glad!! thank you for saying so :'] and i wish you all the best on your creative endeavours!!

I like seeing the other side of Mumbo it gives us a more in depth perspective of Mumbo.
Oli, Vicky, Andy, And Scott grand canyon trip vlog incoming!
SCOTT? Not Steve? Oh, man, my brain just glitched... if I ever learn Tango's real name, I might just have a full stroke 😂
I never really knew the difference between cinematography and camera operation, but as Oli explained it, I realize it's quite similar to game development. Camera operators are like the programmers/developers, while cinematographers are like the game designers.
Thomas. 🤯 😆
Incidentally, Tango has ALWAYS been my favourite Hermit. 😀
But I'm glad he gets to talk about it now!
hearing mumbo talk about his struggle with rationalising binge eating was so touching, crazy the loopholes we create for ourselves

3:26 - 6:00 for the discussion of Impulse and Skizz's IRL names and if the three of them use people's IRL names or their screen names more
I love hearing Oli talk about his videography and photography. It’s amazing seeing the other side of Mumbo. It’s also fascinating.
Around 52 minutes Oli explains so well the mind of a creative and I believe all creatives need to watch this message... regularly!!!!
Thank you.

I like the way Mumbo talked about creativity and the creative people think.
Just watched this and now the Impulse, Gem and Scott group being called "The Scotts" on Secret Life makes a whole lot more sence lol
OH WAIT. I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THAT
First time learning your names so let me just say, it's a pleasure to meet you. :) It's fantastic hearing all the behind the scenes stuff from all of you.
Nope. You are Impulse and Skizz. Mumbo and Oli are two different people, twins, perhaps with different passions.😅 great episode fellas!
Skizz is lying about his first name! We all know, that when he did his name reveal, with an amazing cake. His first name is Coach!
I listened to the entirety of this on Spotify then turned around and came and rewatched the whole thing on RUclips for optimal enjoyment
I absolutely adore you all, and I love hearing your backstories! Feels like a peek behind the curtain! Thanks for letting us into your worlds
I swear I could listen to mumbo for 12 hours in a row
Thanks Andy, Scott and Oli for a fun epesode 😂
This was such a wholesome episode to watch. Thank you for the great content. I love learning about people's creative and thought processes. Mumbo Jumbos worldview is super interesting, insightful and also inspiring.
I love the interviews you guys do. They're super well done!
Wow. So insightful about the creative person's self doubt. I feel better about my own self doubt (not that I have anything close to the public art that you make) Thanks for sharing. Such a fantastic interview.
Yay part two!!! 🎉🎉
Seeing Mumbo this happy made me happy too. Thank you for inviting him on!
