    I just purchased my first Kindle a couple of weeks ago and I am hooked. I still love paper books too but it’s amazing to have just about any book you want in this small device. Thanks for your review.

      Thank you, Mike. And congrats on your kindle! I’m glad to hear it has you hooked. It really is an amazing piece of tech. I still love printed books too, but as you said, you really can’t bear the convenience of ebooks.

    This thing lasts forever, also. I have the previous version to this one and the only reason I can think of to justify an upgrade is storage and this new screen warmth feature. Perhaps also the water proofing. I love mine and very rarely buy physical books anymore. Since I chose to live rather minimalistic, only the absolute favorites make it to my shelf (those I tend to re-read from time to time) so I get to invest a bit more in special editions and such! It's brilliant how much an e-reader has encouraged me to read a lot more on a daily basis. Great video!

      Thank you! Yes, the Kindle is so fantastic! It makes me want to read more also, just with how convenient it is to pick it up and go.

    kindle is the best I think. it's so convenient, love how you can customize it. and easy to look up foreign words with the dictionary. amazing stuff.

    I currently have the 6th gen Paperwhite (a bit geriatric at this point) and the 3rd gen Oasis with the warmth light. I am considering upgrading my old Paperwhite to the new one (non-Signature) at this point, because I have such a large library over eight years of ebook deal hunting that having a dedicated device for short stories is actually a plus. 😅

    Thanks, this is a helpful review. I have the previous model and am very happy with it. I'm more of a casual user than you, but it suits my needs perfectly. I had the Fire before this and wow, that thing burned my eyeballs out! It felt like a physical pain. I ended up giving it to someone. The paperwhite has been wonderful in that regard. No eye strain at all. For this new model the freezing / restarting issue might be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the heads up. As long as mine keeps functioning, I have no plans (or $) to get a new one anytime soon.

    Yes! I can't stand the frequent re-starts when I go to turn off the kindle. I thought it was just me / my device. Like you said, not a deal breaker, but still a pain.
    In fact, turning this off in general is a pain. Unless I'm missing something, I got to hold in the button for around 5-10 seconds to turn off. And if my finger slips, it goes to an ad...
    All minor complaints, tho. I love this device as well, and favor it much more than using my phone 📱
    Thanks for the tips you offer in this video. I'm going to try and apply some of them!

      @MicahCummins  2 года назад

      Thanks, Anthony! I agree with you. Having to hold the power button down for so long in order to shut the device down does get a bit annoying after a while. I checked and my kindle was on the newest operating system, so I still am not sure what is causing the automatic shutdowns. Glad to know it's not just me who's having the issue.

    I haven’t experienced the rebooting that often. I think the screen froze once or twice. Overall, an excellent Kindle, and I’ve been using them since 2008.

    • @MicahCummins
      @MicahCummins  2 года назад +1

      I got a piece of advice to check if my kindle software needs updating. I’m hoping that might fix the issue. I’m glad it hasn’t been an issue for you. It has certainly been a favorite kindle for me so far.

    I generally have my brightness on 6 and my warmth on 4. I’m either reading in a lit room so I don’t need much if any additional or I’m reading in the pitch dark so I don’t want it super bright.
    I’m so happy I chose this version of the kindle rather than a cheaper one that doesn’t do warmth because I am really bad with a white/blue screen and wouldn’t have used it nearly as much

    I love the paperwhite but I still feel that the best Kindle was the one not too appreciate it Kindle Voyage. But i guess that 7 years of heavy use was a bit too much and got quite slow turning the pages and the refresh option was not working so well.. Nevertheless it was the best and will always be missed.

      I’m actually not sure, Tiera. That’s a really good point, I’ll go check that. I’m glad to hear you’re doesn’t have that problem! Maybe it’ll be as simple a fix as updating the software… that would be fantastic. Thank you!
