Whenever people try to live an alternative life and shake off the shackles of the system, they smash it.
They are afraid that more and more people will reject the norm that keeps the rich, rich

Glastonbury festival today is a million miles from what it used to be and what it was all about has vanished, replaced by corporate shite, money making ventures. Assholes selling disgusting foul food at extortionate prices. 'Glamping', for the deep pocketed big money people. I used to play there in the seventies and eighties. Now, i wouldn't go there if i was given a free pass. Many year's ago Mr Eavis himself made us, the whole band a cup of tea in his house after we'd played a fantastic well appreciated gig, fat chance of that happening now. Those were the days, before money and greed took over. I could go on for hours about how good it was but I'll keep that to myself and the other good people that attended back then. Happy days.

      RUclips
      the summer of rave 1989
      it's a cheesy documentary
      HOWEVER
LISERN TO WHAT JEREMY TAYLOR SAYS..
      can't deny it..
      thatchers children !!!???
the whole scene was sabotaged and "gatecrashed by his lot..
and it's been that way ever since..
      free parties didnt pay tax
ilegal raves clubs bars festivals.. do
      and made a fortune.
and that's where the scene changed..
and folks think that by going to these festivals their being anti establishment... anti Conservative
      anti capitalism
yet there run by them ..
it's ALL THERE right on that documentary.
we felt the scene change in 89 ..
it's all about the money and taxes now,
back then it was about the feeling and for the love of it
this is why posh folks hate the song by Pulp
      common people.
I voted with my money ( exactly and only what they want now out of us) and stopped going to festivals back in 1990
      went a couple 2014, ..
      awful.. no proper spirit.
we should have never left them woods back in Nottinghamshire
      in 1886

Well yes, have just been shown this and yes again, the interviews are good and glad the story continues to be told. As ever though in so many videos and websites, I don't get a credit and no-one is told who makes this work. Tash [Alan Lodge]

Phil said that once he’d been whacked in the face with a truncheon despite never resisting any police demand, and escorted away from his home and coach, they set fire to it and made him watch it burn.
      Absolutely boils my piss.
I find the only way to stop thinking about it without a toxic level of anger is to remember Phils story of the police chief demanding to know the whereabouts of Norris and Dorris, the alleged ringleaders of the peace convoy, who in reality were a pair of the travellers geese, 200 otherwise beaten and scared travellers managed to laugh at his absolute idiocy.

my family, narrowly missed this event. they were traveling quite legally, to a peaceful summer solstice, a tradition going back hundreds of years. think glastonbury, or 4th of july. the police thought that they were in the right, because they wore the uniforms. the SS were wearing the uniforms to. have we, all forgotten our own histories ? we were just following orders. whos heard that before ? i should add, that i am not political, and i have no axe to grind. i could just see, where it would all end up, if nobody objected to it happening to others, as long as it wasn't them. have we all forgotten how to be caring human beings ? sadly i was right, look at now, are you awake, now ?

I disagree that the great mass of the British public even knew, let alone cared, about the NATs, if they had even heard of them, their opinion, was just that they were 'a bunch of soap dodgers'. Their offence, in the eyes of the Government, was not presenting an alternative lifestyle, it was presenting an alternative economical model, none of this police behaviour came as a surprise, the Police in the 70s and 80s were unbelievably violent by todays standards, I remember being beaten by two officers for sitting on railings by a 'bus stop in Preston, and just being glad that they didn't drag me to the station for a real go.
Now they complain that society is fragmented and nobody gives a shit, I wonder why.

The trouble is that these people thought and acted like they could do anything they wished. Many dangerous vehicles were on the road, no insurance, n driving licence, no mot and no brakes or exhausts. They would pitch up anywhere and if they set up near you your crops would be stolen, deer killed by running dogs, chickens stolen and your land left with human poo. They wanted an alternative lifestyle, accepted dole money all off the backs of others and those people finally got fed up with them. They would enter land illegally and just trash it so in the end they were stopped and stopped hard. None of those who stole, destroyed land were ever brought up and held responsible for their acts even those who were thieving from peoples homes even using the old ruse on OAP's when some would drag a kid along and say that their child was in need of the loo as others sneaked in and stole.

All hearsay and generalisation. Good riddance to thatcher and her ilk. The mark of the strength of any society is in how it treats its dissidents. As Neil Young sang after the Kent State Uni killings: 'HOW CAN YOU RUN WHEN YOU KNOW.....' some things you can never forget without losing part of yourself. To use everyday parlance, how can you go straight when you know the truth. It really beats me that so many shallow individuals did do so. I tried to change things from the inside myself for a while, but increasing knowledge continued to blow away any ideas of that!!! Came to the happy realisation that I could never stay on the inside of this society and would never again try to. Once a nomad, always a nomad/outsider. Toby Trux.

Stopped though? They do it today. They came to my grandads house and brutalised him every week. Smashed him to the ground and stole his war medals. After he died my friend moved into the house for a few weeks and they saw that, waited in the garden and attempted to rape her.

Can't just expect to smash your way onto people's land when the law has said you can't and then play the victims when you get stopped and put in your place.. Hiding behind the fact that you've got kids, which makes your actions in front of them all the more repulsive... Always the victims... Yawn

So when you get herded onto land, facing getting your head stamped in if you don't, you are a bad person? Guess they should have just stayed still and let the police burn out their homes and beat their families. The situation was orchestrated by the police. If it wasn't for them, they wouldn't have been on the field in the first place.

    • @EponaDreams-AmbientDreamscapes
      @EponaDreams-AmbientDreamscapes 2 месяца назад

They were invited to stay in that field by the owner but too many people arrived and this is what got the interest of the police. But as I mentioned above, I remember a lot of coverage about NATs. The problem with people who are on the outskirts of society is that they are quite difficult to control by those who are in power. I also remember the Greenham Common Women before and they also experienced police brutality.
And let's not forget how the police were then given greater control over protesters, stop and search, not allowing protests unless approved by the police in advance, and so on.
