  • Somebody remake these oil diverters! Leaving them out of your transmission is a surefire way to induce a failure.

I'll look into producing them @longrangegear. Let me know if there's anything you'd change to improve the design or if stock shape is fine.

Do you happen to have the part number from trans star for the oil diverted ring for in the seal retainer?

I have an unrelated question. I bought my truck with 256,000 mile it now has 300,000. It growls at low rpm in 1st and 2nd. Its done it since i bought it. A guy heard it and said the synchros are going out. Do you agree?

No sir, synchronizers are only working during the transition period when youre moving the shift lever. Once the transmission is past that point and the transmission is “in gear” then the synchronizer has been bypassed and isn’t actually doing anything. If you have a growl, that could be a bearing, excessive endplay, damage, etc.

Ok thanks. It's only at low rpm off idle. I always thought it was normal

I had a shop local to me rebuild mine and fk that up, I could show you a smoked bearing when I pulled my transmission apart myself those bearings were square.
