I like the co-pilot. He has a vibe.
Very sharp guy ex military ex airline
a bit too much if you ask me
@@gear_down I thought he had a military bearing. Seems Special Forces to me. He would make an awesome captain
My guess is Cargo. C-17 or C-5. Not a fighter pilot I’ll say that!
@JustMe-wx7uv No he doesn't have fighter pilot vibes
I think a lot of people see this as quick cash but they don’t see the amount of work you had to put in to get to this place. Congratulations man enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!!
Agreed. A lot goes into getting licensed. Also not doing this everyday. So 4k but when are you making money again? Tomorrow, great. But in 2 days? Less appealing. There’s levels to this game of life, this seems like a great gig but also has to actually put in the hours to get paid. Being a pilot isn’t one of those make money while you sleep type of gigs, but he’s well on his way with RUclips, so he’s on the right track
@@braer240 take into count crew rest and it is paid while you sleep. Or paid to sleep lol regardless a good income can open doors to passive income
What’s a apna role?
What driving?
I had no idea you were an A&P IA. Im a 22 y/o CFI and just started A&P school because I want to get into the management/contracting world. You definitely make me feel like Im on the right path.
You are definitely on the right path keep it up!!!
honestly is a double edge sword. Cause some employers will abuse the fact u got ur A&P instead of make you fly. But anyway its good to have the knowledge. @@Brad2117
Do you have to have an A&P to do contracting? I’m confused. Sorry
@@RowdyBushnah it’s just a plus on resume
Brooo this is one of the best aviation RUclips videos I’ve ever watched. Straight raw audio from a gulfstream crew. Feel like I learned a little bit just from watching this. It’s also cool to hear you go from chill let’s rock and roll this thing to very professional let’s get configured on the approach here. Love it man
Thanks for the awesome kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Many more vids in the pipeline. Cheers Jake ✌️
Just came across your videos and I can't thank you enough. I'm an extremely nervous flyer but listening to you and the co-pilot going through checks and being so casual about it and just having a good time has really helped me prepare for my flight down to Disneyland in November. So again, thank you for giving a behind the scenes look at your job to help take away the mystery and unknown for us nervous flyers. God bless man!
If you're still nervous, check out a book called "Stick and Rudder" by Wolfgang Langewiesche. The first few chapters explain in simple terms WHY airplanes can fly. It put me at ease as a student pilot.
Just what I was looking for. I’m an A&P working for a commercial airliner in NYC. I’m also involved in GA doing avionics installation. I’m on the path to become a pilot because being a A&P for a commercial airliner is not what I expected, I’m just a number with no flexibility . On becoming a commercial airliner pilot also is not really the route I wanna be either. This video opened up my eyes on becoming your own boss with both licenses and being Golden in aviation pilot and mechanic, you my guy inspired me with this video… subscribed Thank YOU
You are very welcome. Good luck on the journey. It is well well worth it. Cheers man.
Out of curiosity are all airlines like that as an A&P?
@@georgenicola8323yes and no. It really depends on your stations manager and your crew. Your crew can make or break your day. They can make you feel welcomed, give you the night off on your Friday (often a Wednesday lol) and cover for you if you need to leave and run home.
Your manager can right your wrongs on a missed clock-in, let you leave early, come in late, send you home after all your work is done, approve extra time out, etc.
@@georgenicola8323 really differs from station to station, but every major airline is going to have a thoroughly vetted corporate policy that you need to abide by. Its up to your individual station how hard they want to break from that and allow you to be a human
@@georgenicola8323don't expect holidays or PTO. You will be working OT a LOT. I was a line mechanic for two different airlines at LAX and they were both the same. However the benefits from the union are really good. Best medical I've ever had. Just don't expect much agency over your own life and schedule until you put in 10 to 15 years.
Totally agree with the loving the longer format ‘what’s going on in the cockpit’ videos. Checklists ATC the ins and outs of flying the plane.
Keep ‘em coming really enjoy!!
Glad you like them!
I am also A&P certified and plan to pursue IA certification soon. I recently began flight training and hadn't considered the advantage of being a mechanic for operators. Instead of charging them initially, pilots can secure gigs, which is essentially like having insurance covered in the eyes of the operator. Great info! Thanks for the motivation!
Yessir!
This video was 46 minutes of pure awesomeness! I'm so glad you have more in the pipeline! I grew up on Top Gun, but unfortunately didn't become a U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat pilot, so now I live vicariously through your videos lol. Thanks for the great content! Be safe up there!
Oh wow! Thanks for the compliment! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! See ya next weekend!
Dude worked and works hard, put in his time, effort and diligence. Professional and takes care of those he works with.
And that Ladies and Gentlemen is how you drive a McLaren.
Congratulations Sir.
Cheers Ian, thanks for the Kind words!
McLaren? What…..no props for the way he drives the GIVsp? 😂

I really hope I get to fly with you or somebody like you in the future. I'm a full-time single dad with a private license. I'm 35 and I had kids young so my youngest will be 18 in 3 years. I have a private in helicopter and I'm about to start working on licensing in fixed wing here shortly. That way im ready to build more time when hes out of highschool. You're channel is super motivating man. Seriously. I appreciate that you take the time to do this. Please keep it up. Shit like this drives me. When i got out of the military, all I wanted to do was fly. But I had to take custody of my kids. That's not a bad thing, I love being a dad lol but I am really excited to get back in the air wiggling sticks. Ill be following as long as you have this channel.
One of your best videos yet! So dope to see and hear more cockpit video and audio. Love the work and detail.
Thank you I appreciate it so much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
My favorite video of yours so far, I'm just one opinion but loved how much more flying content there was in this one and appreciate all the work that goes into it.
Thank you, it means a lot! Cheers

You’ve earned all the success dude. Great channel, great content, great guy. Keep up the good work!

great content as always my man, awesome seeing the raw operations. Just started instrument this week, so it was cool putting some pieces together! Keep rockin.
Awesome thank you so much for watching. Good luck on the instrument training. It is a lot of fun. Fun and studying. Lol.
Very informative breakdown, thank you. I just took my discovery flight the other day and would love to work through after obtaining my PPL to pursue commercial so I can fly some heavier aircraft. These vlogs are inspiring!
Glad it was helpful! Good luck on your training! Remember to just have fun with it! You’re flying an airplane 😁😁😁
Nice video. Very informative, love the cockpit talk and the financial breakdown. First video I’ve seen on the channel and I like it.
As someone who is terrified of flying, your confidence and calm nature and this co-pilot makes me want to fly.
you gain a lot of confidence through your training, its all repetition and reinforcement. Making sure you know all the correct procedures in any situation you might get in. So you can go up in the air and no matter how bad things go, you confidently know what to do.
If you really want to, give it a try I love flying more then anything I haven’t piloted an aircraft in a few years and it sucks but I’ll be back flying once I get the money together to finish my private pilot.
Real professional pilots are calm and keep you perfectly safe at all times.
Really enjoyed this one. As someone with a few hundred hours, I’d love to see/hear how you made it into the Gulfstreams. Keep up the great content!
Video on this coming soon! Cheers guys!
Very professional...I liked you talking about how you treat the crew working with you. Creating trust and building relationships...that's why you get the work.
I appreciate that!
Impressive to me as a non pilot. Lord of great communication to make sure both pilots on same page. Loved it
WOW, that is a fantastic video!!! We need another in-depth one on contracting, including recommendations on how an ambitious pilot might enter the business aviation sector.

This is by far one of the most valuable videos I have seen a pilot post. I just got done with my CFI still working on the additional stuff and time building. I spent 9 years as an aircraft mechanic working narrow and wide bodies. I live in the area as well. I’d love the opportunity to know more about what you do and network if you’re ever up for it!
Cheers man thanks for that! Keep the grind up! Get those yours in!
Lololol
“And network”
So you just go comment on people who you hope will hand you a shortcut 😂😂😂😂.
Gotta out the work in. Don’t expect handouts.
@anthony5227 networking is not a handout. It's one of the smartest things you can do in any industry. Don't shit on people for something so important that is one of the pillars with being successful in your industry
what else is he supposed to do, fucking sit there and not try to meet people? Its called networking for a reason@@anthony5227
Had no ideal this industry existed. I'm enlightened. Keep doing what you are doing bro!!
This was great! Good production and transparency… keep the videos coming.
Thank you so much new video next weekend. Cheers.
Amazing! Great video. I'm just now starting my PPL training; I hope to finish my commercial rating by end of the year, go CFI after that, and of course work towards the magic 1500 number. I'd love to be able to do the contract thing one day like you; I'm jumping ship from software development. I'm in my mid 50's so I don't expect to get as far but it should still make for a new career until I can retire or whatever.
You can do it!!! Flying is so rewarding! Keep up the great work Rob!!!
I’m in same boat but 43. Got 220 hrs so far. Just past written for commercial and just polishing off skills for practical test. Going one day at the time and see where the wind takes me.
Mid 50s. Hate to say it but you are going to have a hard time keeping up. Not to mention you are at the mercy of your medical. I wouldn’t quit your day job
Could you make a video or explain the path you took to becoming a contractring pilot? Did you get your ratings and then go straight into corporate/contracted flying or did you work for the airlines to build hours and then branched off into this? Im active duty military right now but planning on separating and moving back to LA to get my pilot license/ratings to hopefully eventually be able to do this many years from now.

Too bad RIL wasn't a daytime flight. The view into there is incredible. It's also fun to watch two pilots become a crew in a handful of flights.

My feed and I watched cause my 20 year old son is currently in flight school here in so Calif working on his instrument rating and it’s kind of cool to see where he can end up some day.
Great video and very informative!
Awesome hit that subscribe button. I owned a flight school for many years. I have a series coming up on how to save $$$ and ultimately, get jobs
Good info. Didn't realize GIV pilots were getting $2k a day. G550 is paying 2-2500. I fly a G650 and we are at $3500. Glad to see the rates coming up across the board. A rising tide raises all boats. Are you covering 135 trips as well on several certs?
No I don’t do any 135 stuff, although I could I’m on a couple of 135 certificates. But, I prefer the planes I manage, and the owner trips for the 135’s that I’m on the “roster” of. I bill 2500 on the 5/550. Looking to move to the 650 this year as well even if I have to wear a uniform :) Cheers man! Keep the shiny side up!!!
Stealing joe rogans favorite quotes, rising tide

Having an A&P/IA gives you more opportunities than just flying. I am working on my A&P as well as my flight ratings. Do you see mechanics that don't fly and flyers that don't fix on the west coast?
I don’t know too many pilot/mechanics. Although I don’t ask around either. I do totally agree with you. I love it one of my favorite things to do when I want to make a few extra bucks is go to do a couple of annual inspections.
Love the video; I'm surprised you only have 28k subs so far but I don't think it will be like that for long! Keep it up!
Gotta ask you Captain what does the SP represent on the G-4SP
Thank You
Special Performance, Cheers!
Just hit 800hrs instructing. 25yrs old. With the shortage and the increase in pay at the airlines I’ve pretty much set that as my goal. Especially since LCCs like spirit, frontier, JetBlue, etc are hiring pilots at 1500hrs. Personally I came to love flying because of the places it takes you and for the excitement of flying different aircraft. My original goal when I first started flying was to somehow find a way into the corporate world. Obviously what you do isn’t very common but I feel like I could network my way to one of those “golden egg” positions. Always been personable and good at shooting the shit with anyone lol. My question is would you go to the airlines first, get some 121 experience, save up some bread for awhile then if I still want to switch up to a 91/135 charter gig do it then? Would it be easier to market yourself having that experience and be easier to find a more attractive pj gig? Or do you think it’s a better option to just get into the 91/135 field now and work my way up?
I have a whole course and membership program coming up soon to address all these types of questions! Stick with what you’re doing for Nelk build those hours and network as much as you can!!!
@@gear_down I’ll be looking out for it. Keep up the vids man love the content! You’ve definitely got one of the best jobs in aviation thanks for sharing the journey 🤙🏼

@@gear_down Great question. I was advised to do a couple years at an airline then try and transition to corporate, not as easy as it sounds but would be easier nowadays. I hear about the stigma of being an “Airline Guy” coming into the Corporate world. @gear_down how true is that?
Not at all. Got trained pilots come from military/airlines

Yo broooo!!! LOVE the longform content!! Keep it up dude!!

Let’s go!!!! You can do it! There’s never been a better time!

also can confirm networking is a huge part in the aviation world, and other pilots know that the aviation world is quite small, so if you have a name and get yourself out there, chances are that others will hear about you.
