Oh, how I *adore* Bananarama. When I'm feeling just kind of glum or moody, I listen to stuff like Radiohead or The Smiths, wallowy music. But if I'm really in a pit of despair or feeling anxiety something awful, I've discovered nothing that works quite like their particular brand of *aggressively* funky and cheery '80s pop. "Love in the First Degree" in particular has forced me through some very tough moments - I'd love you to check that out, as well as "Venus", "I Want You Back", "Only Your Love" (feat. Fun Boy 3), and/or countless others.

Unfortunately I think it comes down to censorship and control. I've noticed other channels that don't even do music but have other content and they have the same issue. And for example you are not allowed by any stretch of the imagination to dispute the outcome of a Democrat election. But if trump got elected talk smack it's fine don't worry about it we got this. But when a Democrat wins bite your tongue or you will be banned and alienated from whatever platform. So unfortunately it's not just the music industry that suffers this brand of censorship. Said that freedom of speech and all of our rights are under attack. So if you want ratings and paid channels shut up and comply with whatever the mainstream media dictates to us if not suffer the consequences. Sad days indeed.

Ace of Base did a cover of this song. That was in the mid or late 1990s. This band came out in the mid-1980s. Used to watch it on MTV all the time in 1986, I was like 10 then. Loved this song.

Whoa, did that bring back a memory, and seems like a million years since I last heard it. The police cars in the vid reminded me of the Hill Street Blues theme song.

Banana-Rama,love theese ladies! They even still look gorgeous today,so theyr DNA must be solid too! Theese ladies brought out the kid in me back then, constantly singing "Im your pen**" (When you come around to Venus, another hit by them, you`ll understand) Bananarama & The Bangles were my 2 favourite female bands back then, they still are.

My summer between Junior and Senior year, was a big hit and all over MTV back when they played music. The $1.48.9 a gallon for gas was near the end of high gas prices that started in 1974 and dropped like a stone in 1985 when it stayed under a dollar a gallon for the rest of the 80s. I remember because I bought a car the spring before I graduated and was happy to not have to fork over so much for it.

Love this track. It's almost like an acapella parallel of cool different beats and melodies. The Wikipedia on this track is pretty eye-opening: "After an exhausting morning shooting in the city in brutal August heat, the band returned to the tavern for lunch. They made the acquaintance of some local dockworkers, who, upon learning of their situation, shared vials of cocaine with them. "That was our lunch," said Fahey, who had never tried the drug before. "When you watch that video, we look really tired and miserable in the scenes we shot before lunch, and then the after-lunch shots are all euphoric and manic."[8]"

Bananarama was one of those groups not everyone liked back then, but I always thought they were pretty fun.

Thanks for explaining the song according to your understanding. Been listening it through the 80's and never realised it was actually about a failed relationship.
