The salt mine includes a (not so?) secret level where a government official who was put out of reach during the 9/11 attacks. I suspect that the secret level is not on the tour?
I’m overseas right now and seeing you go back to my hometown of Wichita is really refreshing in times like these. My family lives 2 minutes from downtown ❤
I loved this video! I have always told people that there is a lot more to Kansas than flat terrain. If you ever have time to come back there is plenty to see west of the interstate. Thank you.
My Grandfather worked in the salt mines and met my Grandmother who worked in the office. I guess you could say, without those salt mines, I wouldn't be here to be making this comment today!!
This is my first video of y'alls to see. I'm going to KS and OK as part of seeing all 50 states- I'm nearly there! This vid was AWESOME! Subscribing and then going to watch the OK one!
I just stumbled across your channel! I live in Kansas and I work at the Cosmosphere! So bummed you weren't able to visit. Hopefully you can visit again sometime. Glad you enjoyed Strataca and the rest of Kansas! Definitely subscribing to follow you both!
Wichita is my home- good job! I do wish you’d stayed up for the fire pots at the Keeper, but you made up for it by pronouncing the name of the river correctly!😊
Thanks again for the great video! We have enjoyed Nebraska and Kansas so much and can’t believe all the great stops! We go through Nebraska or parts of Kansas but always in such a hurry to get to our final stop of Colorado so miss so much🤷♀️ Our trip next Aug. will be different as we plan to take in some of your stops for sure! Thank you so much again and safe travels🙏🇺🇸🗽👱♀️
I’ll never forget when former President Trump congratulated the state of Kansas when the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl and Missourians lost their minds. Lol 😂 an easy mistake to make though, in all fairness. I’ve lived in Missouri my whole life but never done much exploring in Kansas-thanks for the inspiration!! 🎉💕
Thank you for highlighting my home state! Next time y’all are through, come check out western Kansas! Specifically, dodge city, liberal, Pratt (home of the Miss Kansas pageant) and there’s quite a few more little cities with cool facts such as Kinsley Kansas, the half way marker between New York and San Francisco! The Coronado cross, where the travelers lookout point you stopped at, set a up a large cross as a stop on his journey through Kansas! Lots of history in western Kansas! Dodge city’s history is about the old west, cowboys Marshall’s and all of that!
Yes we'd love to explore more one day! We planned on doing Dodge City and much more on this trip, but due to time we had cut it. Also, Dodge City looked like a similar experience to the Cowtown Museum so we went with that. But would still love to visit Dodge City! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Lol, I guess we're all just raised with it differently 🤣😋 now I'll have to try it like that. We had them in lunch cafeteria, never at home. We just discovered you and watched the tuk trip that we didn't get to do. We flew to Barrow to get to arctic, had same feelings about Dalton ending as you. Bleh on oil storage for a view. Our van will not be as cool as your van, but I'm excited.
@Adventures of A+K we were in a rental truck camper and I was concerned about injury to truck (our neighbors in Fairbanks had rock scratch the hood and crack Windshield). So we took the bus then fly tour to the Arctic Circle on Dalton. Not as cool of certificate as yours. I was glad we didn't drive, but we were 59 and 60 and don't have the stamina for that rough ride. (Weather rolled in and we had to ride bus back the 3rd day😪) we did see wolf right in front of van and northern lights in coldfoot, which was awesome.
Soo much more to see in Wichita: Krupp Castle, Sedgwick County Zoo's, Tangynika, sooo much airplane history. And Sas-porilla ( we don't say the first r) lol!
The free campsite at the fishing spot was stunning, almost feels better than the BLM land as you have the toilets! The salt mine was vey cool. I can't get my head around how such a mine could have been profitable as salt is so cheap - but it obviously worked. If you enjoyed this one, I'd highly recommend the salt mine on the outskirts of Krakow whenever you make it to Poland - that one is insane with the rooms that the miners created.
Ya know we do like it when places like that have designated campsites so that it limits the impact and keeps everyone spaced out. It was one of the better campsites. We heard about the salt mine near Krakow. That would be so interesting check out! We are pumped to go to Poland one day!
Thanks for the video. Kansas is another state that I have only driven through, and I want to explore more. Loved all the video except the salt mine elevator. I don't think I could do that one.
I can see how it would be an unpleasant experience for those that don’t like that type of confinement. There’s a lot to see in Kansas! We love sharing places that people don’t think about going
As a kansas city Missourian I'm so glad yall got the history right because so many people think kck and kcmo is the same place and those are fighting words to some of us... and the better bbq is in Missouri 😉
Tampa and Seattle were in Munich today and at the end of the game the fans sang country roads by John Denver. Kansas very flat but you make it interesting. Can't judge a book by its cover nice.
POT + uh + WOT + uh + mee is how you pronounce it lol. We always enjoy hearing people try to pronounce some of our towns and water ways. Hope you guys enjoyed our beautiful state!
Sas-pa-ril-a. Was another one Lol. I live in LaCygne. Another hard one to pronounce (La-scene) Glad you enjoyed our wonderful state. You barely scratched the surface.
A valiant effort from a non-Kansan, to be sure. I think I learned how to say it from watching the weather report with my dad and hearing about Pottawatomie County.
I am a Kansas girl and we raised our family here in Kansas, mostly Wichita but also Manhattan. home of K-State! I just want to compliment you on hitting some really great great places in Kansas to visit and I think you did a good job of representing our wonderful state. Of course we have so much more. But thank you and I hope you enjoyed it! 🌻
I'm from Kansas too and you started with my fave Burnt ends from Joe's! I only like 3 bbq places in USA. Firebrand in seward and Junction market gas station at hwy 69 and 60 in Alabama. (Bill Miller bbq in San Antonio also good for "fast food" bbq). We're about to have a van and down size from our travel trailer for a few years.
I really appreciate the way you guys don't shy away from the dark times in history of the places you visit. The part about the bison slaughter was a new and terrible fact that I learned. Please continue to keep it real!
And YOU just taught ME something new...that this part of our American West history is not either taught in schools or passed down through the generations...or not enough folks are watching Ken Burns. Pls learn more about the West on PBS.
Wow, I had never wanted to visit Kansas until I watched this! Fascinating! Thank you two for sparking interest in so many places. And who knew….cinnamon rolls and chili!!? We plan to try that this week! You guys made it seem really yummy!
Did you notice it's not flat? The eastern part of the state has hills. My kids could tell you they walked uphill to school both ways in the snow. We lived on the top of one hill and the schools were on top of another. It wasn't worth the 2 block drive.
As a native to Kansas, the cinnamon roll and chili combo was one of the most anticipated lunch menu items here in my hometown! We had it quite regularly throughout middle school and highschool and you could always tell when there was a new (non-midwestern) kid in class on that day because of the utter look of confusion and disgust on their face! But, most of them came around to trying it out. Thanks for visiting the state, wish you could have seen the Bartlett Arboretum here in Belle Plaine on your way through!
We had several of those on our original plans, but like we mentioned isn’t the video, we had a lot going on behind the scenes and had to cut some stuff. We did see part of the Flint Hills at the Tallgrass Prairie. We’ll have to come back! Thanks for watching
I’ve lived in Kansas & Missouri all my 65 years. I’ve never seen anyone eat the chili and cinnamon roll together!! You eat your chili, then have a roll. This was always served in school cafeterias. Oh, and Joes BBQ is the best!! Good choice!
It never fails - every A+K episode you make me LOL or I find myself just smiling while watching! You two are the best - so informative and fun to watch! And every episode you always make me want to go wherever you are visiting! Thanks for all the hard work you put into creating such great videos!
Great glimpse of Kansas. The state has so much to see if you leave the interstates and explore. I was born in Kansas and have lived close to Hutchinson all of my 80 plus years. So glad to see that you were here!! I have followed your Alaska adventures and thoroughly enjoy all of your adventures!
Awesome job highlighting the area! We went to KC in May and my son still talks about Joe's BBQ. In fact he was wearing his Joe's BBQ shirt we picked up today...haha. Your drone shots showcasing the plains are awesome by the way. Don't be afraid to highlight more of that! Loved the salt mine tour as well...super fun.
Thanks for highlighting my home state in such a nice, positive way! Sorry the bison weren’t close. Most of the time I’ve hiked there they are literally on the path. It’s spooky to get close to them. If you’re ever going through in the late spring the prairie gets so green and pretty.
Your video about my home state was excellent. I am sorry that you folks were not able to visit the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas. It is a Smithsonian Institution approved museum about the Space Race. The have a number of capsules and space artifacts that actually went into space. Including the actual Appollo 13 capsule. If you folks ever get to Kansas again. It is definitely worth the trip.
You make places I never thought would be interesting, seem interesting. Kansas would be one of the least interesting states I would ever think of visiting, but you make it look fun to visit
We lived in Wichita our whole lives until about 7 months ago! You definitely chose some of the better things for 24 hours! Just missing some of the great coffee shops :) I'm always amazed how many vloggers visit cowtown because it was always my least favorite field trip as a kid 😂 I think it's time to give it another chance as an adult haha. Also cool it's a harvest host!
Cowtown - sometimes more exciting than other times for sure. I think the zoo renovations are great but wow 24 hours is a hard one. Too bad no great Lebanese food to try- where to start?!
Wichita looked like a really neat town! We would've loved to have visited a few coffee shops! Cowtown was fun, but I hear ya about field trips. Growing up we'd go to NASA Space Center EVERY year. There was one year I stayed home for the field trip. I couldn't do it again 😂
Amazing what you can find in little towns throughout this country. If you lived to be 500 years old I think there would be things you'd miss. Thanks for showing me some of the things I missed when going through Kansas years ago. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
I was born in Kansas and have lived here my whole life. There is so much fun stuff to do here (food being a huge one) and the people are what make it so special. Thank you for showing all of the amazing parts of Kansas I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Also, it’s so funny to me that no one has heard of cinnamon rolls and chili. They are even served together in schools! The thank you for coming! If you come back give Q39 bbq a try 🖤
Missouri Schools had chili with cinnamon rolls but I never seen anyone mix them together. The Cinnamon roll was the desert that day. Good thing it wasn’t apple pie lol if people mix the desert together with the chilli
BOWL AND A ROLL! I am so happy you tried it, we always get weird looks when we suggest it. We lived in KS for 12 years (in Lawrence; when you go back check it out!) and I had some of the BEST time there, yes it's flat but it's such an underrated state. Keep up the amazing adventuring, love that you take us all along with you!❤
Leave it to you two EXPERTS to show us the best of KANSAS!! Who knew it was so cool! Delicious BBQ, Living museums, Wizard of Oz, prairies, salt mines! You guys nailed it, great production as always we loved it! We visited Wieliczka Salt Mine outside Krakow Poland and it was amazing! Thank you guys for showing us KANSAS! ~Cara 💖
Thank you for featuring my home state. Kansas is beautiful! Chili and cinnamon rolls are definitely a thing in Kansas, but, I have never dipped them. I am going to have to give that a try.
I live in hutchinson! So glad ya'll came through and got to experience the salt mines! It is so rare for me to come across a video where anyone has visited my hometown! Safe travels to you both! 🖤
Have lived in Ks my whole adult life. I acknowledged that cinnamon rolls are a side to chili here, but I didn’t realize people dipped it! I thought it was just dessert! I’m from Texas, so Kansas still seem confused that I don’t cook chili with beans and always have cornbread on the side. Who knew that chili was such a geographic differentiator.!
Having been born in Kansas, it was great to see that you finally made it to my home state! I particularly loved seeing the Salt Mine Museum and Coronado site (which I have not visited) and the Tallgrass Prairie, and Arkansas River area of Wichita (which I have visited!) Next time you go through, be sure to visit the World's Largest Hand-Dug Well (and Museum) in Greensburg KS. Definitely worth the trip!
Y’ALL. KCMO is such a gem. And they definitely know how to make a BBQ. Loved watching you explore! Thank you for sharing the difficult history as well. Love you guys!!
I was born and raised in Kansas. My brother and I grew up having chili and cinnamon rolls. I don't know what your resource of information was BUT in Kansas, we don't eat the cinnamon roll dipped in the chili. We enjoy them separately. Eat the chili, then enjoy the cinnamon roll afterwards. At age 50, I still crave a cinnamon roll every time I finish a bowl of chili, lol.
That's interesting. It might be regional. Throughout our school years, all the kids enjoyed the chili and cinnamon rolls separately. And we enjoyed the added bonus of all school lunches being cooked from scratch by the lunch ladies. Ahh, the good old days. We love your channel and have been following your fun travels over past couple years. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Glad to see yall enjoyed your visit!! Wichita is my hometown. But Lindsborg is very close to my heart. Next time yall should check out Perry Samuels Garden Of Eden!! PS it's pronounced Sass-perr-ella ;)
Love how you find quirky out of the way places, what fun new experiences in this video. Like the Keeper of the Plains statue, not quite as spectacular as the Dignity Native American woman statue, we actually went to visit a few years ago, thanks to your video through South Dakota. Thank you for sharing your adventures
Too cool! Thanks for showing us Eastern Kansas! Half the stuff you showed, I had no idea about. My Grandparwnts had a red horse decoration just like that with our last name on it. I knew our family came from Sweden in the late 1800's, but never knew that likely traveled with them from there! So cool! If in Kansas, I will stop in Lindsborg for sure!
Good video of our home state! If you ever go to wilson Kansas stay at the Midland Railroad Hotel, it's an old hotel with a restaurant from the early 1900's also they have eggs all over town.
As a kid having chili and cinnamon rolls on the menu for lunch was always so exciting. I'm so glad you guys visited the areas you did, all the best areas of Kansas 😊
What an incredible video! I'm from Kansas, but I've never been to many of these attractions, although I've heard many good things about them, including the Salt Museum and the Oz Museum. You guys had the perfect blend of facts and silliness. Boy, it's too bad the Cosmosphere was closed. It truly is a gem. I hope you come back. Feel free to meet me in Atchison, birthplace of Amelia Earhart, and the true "Window to the West". P.S. Our State Travel and Tourism Department needs to do whatever it takes to hire you!
I live in Kansas City the BEST BBQ is Q39 and Scotts Kitchen near KCI (especially the burnt ends!)....AAAAA-Mazing BBQ! OMG so good. But the Z-man at Joe's is my classic go-to fav. OH and we grew up with cinnamon rolls with our chili in schools but we never ate them "together". Interesting
We've heard good things about Q39. We'll check it out next time. The Z-man was awesome! We read some people dip it so we thought it'd be fun and it was pretty dang good!
I never thought about going to the Oz Museum. That BBQ brisket looked delicious. I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about the Pottawatomie massacre since you stayed overnight at Pottawatomie Lake. I remember this from US History class. Never heard of chili and cinnamon rolls. News to me. Lindsborg and the salt mine both looked cool. Thanks for taking us on another adventure.
We hadn’t heard about that massacre. As you know, we don’t shy away from the ugly side of history. We probably would have worked that one in if we had known The brisket was so good! Kansas has a lot to offer! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Lots of things that we need to do in Kansas! Road trip!!! That chili, cinnamon roll thing is suppose to be a thing here in Nebraska too, and I've never tried it. Just sounds bad!! Maybe I'll have to try it after you guys made it look .......not so bad? Just saw Feed Phil and he was in Austin! You're BBQ there looks amazing!! May have to come down again and try that!
There’s tons to do in KS! So much we missed also! Give the cinnamon roll and chili a shot! It’s not nearly as weird as it sounds! The BBQ here in Austin is hard to beat! Definitely worth the trek!
I grew up in Kansas and the chili and cinnamon roll combo is always a topic of conversation for those not from the midwest! Ketchup on scrambled eggs is another one I find a lot of people have never had. What I really want to know is that chili recipe you all through together. It looked great and different from those typical to KS which usually have beans.
We dig the chili and cinnamon roll combo! But we’ll pass on ketchup on eggs 😂 The chili recipe is by Nom Nom Paleo nomnompaleo.com/2017052320170523instant-pot-ground-beef-chili We don’t do beans our chili…no way! ❌❌ put one bean in there and now you have a pot of beans! 😂
Awesome! The Wizard of Oz Museum looks so fun to visit. I watch the movie a couple of times a year...just to keep in touch with my childhood 😀 Not so sure about cinnamon roll and chili..you have definitely peaked my curiosity. What a fantastic campsite y'all found! I love the mill, so much history. The Coronado Castle...beautiful! The Salt mines have been added to my list...what a great tour. Looks like a great Old Cowtown Museum HH. Our favorite in Oklahoma, so far 😀, is the Wichita Mountains. We have been there twice already. Thanks for sharing all of your great stops!
The museum was super cool! We watched the movie again the night before we went and it really helped put a lot of stuff in context! We had a great time in Kansas! Oklahoma was awesome too! We LOVED the Wichita Mtns. Stay tuned for that video in a few weeks!
One last comment and I will leave ya to drive lol. You just missed it but on Thanksgiving, KC will light up the Country Club Plaza in a dazzling display of lights. This is done that Thursday night. If you are still in the area, I highly recommend it. Even as a native here, its still spectacular
Oh that sounds fun! I know it’s confusing, but our videos are very delayed for a variety of reasons. We’ve been home in Texas for a couple weeks now and this video was shot over a month ago. But it would be neat to see sometime!
From Texas to Alaska back to Texas what was your total miles traveled? We have been watching the entire trip and it has been amazing. We have been planning our trip to Alaska for next summer. You guys have given us so many great tips on an Alaskan RV trip. Love your videos
When we left Texas there was 74k on the van and when we got back it was at 101k! We’ll be writing lots of content from our travels this year over the next couple months so keep an eye on our website. Hopefully it will help you with your planning!
I live in Wichita so glad you guys enjoyed your visit! Every year in Elementary School my school would take a field trip to Cowtown. Kansas has alot of neat places and really great eats!
If y’all ever do end up coming back through Kansas around the 4th of July, Wamego also hosts the largest fireworks in the state. Our population goes from 5000 to upwards of 100,000 for the event
Great Video as usual, in 2019 my friends and I drove from Kansas City MO to Denver on I-70. It was a cool trip. I ate burnt ends at the Royals game- so good
I’m from Kansas, and my dad used to come eat with my brother and I specifically on cinnamon roll and chili day in our school cafeteria. I eat them separately though! Looks like you all had fun!
I lived in Alabama as a kid and I remember having Cinnamon roll and Chili, for lunch in the elementary school cafeteria. It’s still a combo I love even now that Im older and have lived most of my life in Spokane Wa
I was born in Parsons, Kansas but raised in Wichita, Kansas. You did a great job showing off Kansas. Next time you are in Kansas definitely try to spend more time in Wichita. I love this city. Also, you seriously need to check out Crawford County, Kansas. Crawford County is in the far South East part of Kansas. It's known for the best Fried Chicken in the USA. There is Barto's Idle Hour Chicken House, Chicken Mary's, Chicken Annies Original, Chicken Annies Girard, Pichler's Chicken Annie's and Gebhardt's Chicken House. All of these places are awesome and famous. My favorite is Barto's Idle Hour Chicken House. Plus, the history of all the Coal Mines. May God bless you always! Bily Curless Wichita, Kansas, USA
I grew up in in Kansas and we had chili with cinnamon rolls for school lunch, as did my husband. The chili and cinnamon roll are eaten separately. The sweet roll to compliment the chili, never mixed. We enjoy your travels!
From our research, like we mentioned in the video, how people eat them together varies (there are no rules 😉), but we suggest trying them together. It works well!
Stratica is really cool. Also in Hutchinson is the Kansas Cosmosphere Museum. Home to Gus Grissom's Liberty Bell 7, the Apollo 13 Command Module and Gemini X capsule. Check it out!
KC pride is huge! So glad y’all had fun. My family moved to Overland Park from Atlanta when I was 8, and now I’m a sophomore at KU (rock chalk!). Anyway, just wanted to say that moving here, we held all the assumptions that Kansas is a wheat-filled flyover state, but it’s so much more than that! Kansas and KC are the best, our sports are our pride, our BBQ just doesn’t compare, and much more. I wish y’all had more time to spend downtown, especially around Union Station and the crossroads, but I’m so happy y’all enjoyed what you saw! Loved the video!
Always learning new things from your cool videos!! Saw the salt mines on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe a few years ago....his video was funnier, but he blew stuff up too. Not really a fair comparison. Haha. Good info on KC BBQ! Gotta check those out next time I'm up that way.
You guys are awesome! I recently subscribed. As a life long Kansas native I appreciate your taking the time to showcase some of our interesting places. I follow many RUclips rv'ers, and just about everyone sees Kansas as a "fly-over" state...even when RVing. Even though my wife and I love traveling to other states and countries we can always find a weekend trip to something in our home state that we haven't experienced.
I have lived in Kansas my entire life and nobody herre has ever dipped cinnamon rolls IN their chili, W.....T......F And how do you make a Kansas video and not visit Dodge???
We read people eat their chili and cinnamon rolls different ways. In fact, there are a couple comments pretty close to yours that say otherwise about dipping 😊 And as we mentioned in the video, we had to cut a lot from our original plan. There’s always more going on behind the scenes than you know.
You can only cover so much in a state 200 miles by 400 miles, but the Sternberg Museum in Hays, KS is a definite treasure that everyone should visit. Excellent aquatic fossils (Kansas was underwater during the time of the dinosaurs).
my great grandfather came to Kansas after the Civil War in about 1870. Up until 10 years ago we still owned a part of the old farm he had AND the house he built still stands. You missed going to the Garden of Eden , cool place.
You don't eat the chili and cinnamon roll together!!!! The roll is eaten as a dessert. I've eaten these since I was a kid and never, ever dipped it. I don’t know anyone who has. I've been a Kansan most of my life.
I thought the chili cinnamon roll combo was a Missoula, MT thing since I always had it growing up there. But I’ve been hearing about it a lot lately. It’s a cult classic that’s becoming uber-popular all over now 😋😋😋 I NEED to go to the Wizard of Oz Museum, thanks for always increasing my travel plans with each video 😂
@@carolineriedlinger2904 if he went to high school there, I’m sure they served it in the cafeteria. My parents went to Sentinel HS in the late 60s and had it there, and they were still serving it in the 90s when I went there ☺️

Thanks for making the distinction. KCMO is the best and I hope you find time to visit!
I live in Wichita. I'm glad you saw cowtown and the Keeper of the Plains. Good job of sharing Kansas to everyone. I hope you enjoyed Kansas. 😉
We had a great time! Thank you and thanks for watching!
I live in the Wichita area as well. 😊
I’m overseas right now and seeing you go back to my hometown of Wichita is really refreshing in times like these. My family lives 2 minutes from downtown ❤
The Cosmosphere space museum in Hutchinson, Kansas is definitely worth going back for.
Yeah I went there when I was in 5th grade and I been to the salt mine in 8th grade I live in dodge city
I loved this video! I have always told people that there is a lot more to Kansas than flat terrain. If you ever have time to come back there is plenty to see west of the interstate. Thank you.

That’s awesome! We’re glad you’re here!
Traveled through Kansas a few years back and saw a billboard for the museum. Made a stop a found it to be so cool. Neat place
This is my first video of y'alls to see. I'm going to KS and OK as part of seeing all 50 states- I'm nearly there! This vid was AWESOME! Subscribing and then going to watch the OK one!
Woohoo! We hope you have a great time! We’ll be finishing our 50 this year also!
@@AdventuresofAplusK That is fantastic!! I can't think of a better use of time than learning and exploring our country and others! Congratulations!
I just stumbled across your channel! I live in Kansas and I work at the Cosmosphere! So bummed you weren't able to visit. Hopefully you can visit again sometime. Glad you enjoyed Strataca and the rest of Kansas! Definitely subscribing to follow you both!
Thank you so much, Mary! We were bummed we couldn't visit Cosmosphere! We'll definitely be back!

Thank goodness you went to the Nifty Nut House. A trip to Wichita isn't complete until you've stopped by there.
I’m from Lincoln, Nebraska and when I was a little girl I always looked forward to cinnamon rolls and Chili day for school lunch!!!
It’s a delicious combo!
I’ll never forget when former President Trump congratulated the state of Kansas when the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl and Missourians lost their minds. Chili and cinnamon rolls is a common Halloween dinner in rural Nebraska. I had never heard of it before I moved here.
Fun!
Very cool to see pott lake as I’m from Manhattan.
Don't miss the great museums in Pratt.
We’ll have to check ‘em out next time. Thanks
Noon, the cinnamon roll doesn't go IN the chili, just beside the chili to complement 😁
We read people do it different ways 😊
Check out Sasha’s comment right next to yours
Lol, I guess we're all just raised with it differently 🤣😋 now I'll have to try it like that. We had them in lunch cafeteria, never at home. We just discovered you and watched the tuk trip that we didn't get to do. We flew to Barrow to get to arctic, had same feelings about Dalton ending as you. Bleh on oil storage for a view. Our van will not be as cool as your van, but I'm excited.
We want to do the Dalton one day, but definitely wanted to do the Dempster first. It just looked way more appealing
I love brisket and burn't ends mac and cheese!
🤤🤤
I eat the Chili. Then have the cinnamon roll for dessert. Pretty good that way.
To bad you missed the Cosmosphere, it's a great museum!
It was a bummer it was closed that day. We'd love to come back and visit!
I’m not gonna lie, We do serve cinnamon rolls with chili, but ive never seen people dip/dunk the cinnamon rolls in it 😭😭😭
We read some people do and we thought it'd be fun to try. It was pretty dang good!

As a kansas city Missourian I'm so glad yall got the history right because so many people think kck and kcmo is the same place and those are fighting words to some of us... and the better bbq is in Missouri 😉
The bbq part is subjective but that’s okay you stick with that opinion. 👍🏽
Tampa and Seattle were in Munich today and at the end of the game the fans sang country roads by John Denver. Kansas very flat but you make it interesting. Can't judge a book by its cover nice.
Oh how funny! We love sharing the underrated places!
Whoa, the first time I've heard the pronunciation before. It's PAH-TA-WATT-O-ME NOT TOH-ME. Just the last two syllables were wrong.
That was a tough one. We gave it our best shot

My mother would have liked the OZ museum because her name was Dorothy Gale.
That’s awesome! It’s a very neat museum!
My Grand Niece is Dorothy Gale as well!
Noooooo, it doesn't go in the chili.
POT + uh + WOT + uh + mee is how you pronounce it lol. We always enjoy hearing people try to pronounce some of our towns and water ways. Hope you guys enjoyed our beautiful state!
We do our best to get it right. Sometimes we miss.
They should have gone to Olathe, KS! Good luck pronouncing that
We have a lot of towns here in Texas I know y’all would struggle with pronouncing as well. It happens, we do our best.
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
Go CATS 👌🏻👌🏻 💜🤍
I really appreciate the way you guys don't shy away from the dark times in history of the places you visit. The part about the bison slaughter was a new and terrible fact that I learned. Please continue to keep it real!
And YOU just taught ME something new...that this part of our American West history is not either taught in schools or passed down through the generations...or not enough folks are watching Ken Burns. Pls learn more about the West on PBS.
Thank you! We don’t like having to share stuff like that obviously but we think it’s important! Thanks and thanks for watching!
There's a lot of history you don't learn in school. History is written by the victors. Just so you all know, don't get too close to buffaloes.

Wow, I had never wanted to visit Kansas until I watched this! Fascinating! Thank you two for sparking interest in so many places. And who knew….cinnamon rolls and chili!!? We plan to try that this week! You guys made it seem really yummy!
Kansas is so underrated!!
Did you notice it's not flat? The eastern part of the state has hills. My kids could tell you they walked uphill to school both ways in the snow. We lived on the top of one hill and the schools were on top of another. It wasn't worth the 2 block drive.
Kansas is very underrated! Inspiring people to go to places they didn't think to go is one of our favorite things to hear!
In Johnson County KS they serve chilli and cinnimon rolls on the public schools lunch menu
@@napalm_lipbalm86 I've lived in Wichita since 1970. Never heard of chili and cinnamon rolls. Want to try it now
As a native to Kansas, the cinnamon roll and chili combo was one of the most anticipated lunch menu items here in my hometown!
School lunch pizza was a close second to chili and cinnamon rolls.
That's funny about the cinnamon roll and chili! We really enjoyed it and Kansas! We'll be back!
I'm 52 and we also had it in elementary school when I was kid (in Colorado). One of the few lunch items everyone looked forward to.
My wife loved Chilli and cinnamon rolls in Kansas schools but never seen it dipped together.
Didn't even realize but I ate this growing up in Kansas and never really thought it was weird
Little Jerusalem, flint hills, Arikaree breaks, and Wilson lake are amazing natural landmarks in Kansas.
We had several of those on our original plans, but like we mentioned isn’t the video, we had a lot going on behind the scenes and had to cut some stuff. We did see part of the Flint Hills at the Tallgrass Prairie. We’ll have to come back! Thanks for watching
Also, to add to your list Castle Rock near Wakeeny and the Garden of Eden in Lucas.
The Flint Hills are beautiful ❤️
I’ve lived in Kansas & Missouri all my 65 years. I’ve never seen anyone eat the chili and cinnamon roll together!! You eat your chili, then have a roll. This was always served in school cafeterias. Oh, and Joes BBQ is the best!! Good choice!
As we said in the video, we had read that some people mix it and some eat it separately. It was awesome and so was Joes!
It never fails - every A+K episode you make me LOL or I find myself just smiling while watching! You two are the best - so informative and fun to watch! And every episode you always make me want to go wherever you are visiting! Thanks for all the hard work you put into creating such great videos!
That means a lot to us! Thank you so much for that and thank you for watching! 💙💙
Thank you for being open to enjoying Kansas. So many dismiss the flat state and miss the history and diversity.
We had a fantastic time and think it is very overlooked!
We had a great time in Kansas! Thanks, Velma!
thank you for pronouncing Arkansas River the correct way!🙂 Loved the tour through our home state.
Growing up in Kansas they go together but eat them separate is the way to go.
We read people eat it different ways
Awesome job highlighting the area! We went to KC in May and my son still talks about Joe's BBQ. In fact he was wearing his Joe's BBQ shirt we picked up today...haha. Your drone shots showcasing the plains are awesome by the way. Don't be afraid to highlight more of that! Loved the salt mine tour as well...super fun.
Joe's was so dang good! If we lived there we'd go often and I'd have to get a tshirt or hat too! Thanks, Nate!
Thanks for highlighting my home state in such a nice, positive way! Sorry the bison weren’t close. Most of the time I’ve hiked there they are literally on the path. It’s spooky to get close to them. If you’re ever going through in the late spring the prairie gets so green and pretty.
That’s ok. We didn’t want to get toooo close! We’d love to see the prairie other times of the year
They missed the tour of the state capitol building. I grew up in Topeka. My Mom worked for the state so I went to the Capitol a lot.
We were bummed to miss Cosmosphere. It looked like a really cool museum! We'll definitely check it out next time
Thanks and thanks for watching, John!
You make places I never thought would be interesting, seem interesting. Kansas would be one of the least interesting states I would ever think of visiting, but you make it look fun to visit
That’s our goal!
Cowtown was always a fav of mine but then again, I enjoy the old west and history. Gunfights were cool too!
Cowtown - sometimes more exciting than other times for sure. I think the zoo renovations are great but wow 24 hours is a hard one. Too bad no great Lebanese food to try- where to start?!
@@gaylarathbun5168 There's so much good Lebanese! I love N & J and Sesame. Sesame's biscuits have my heart haha
Wichita looked like a really neat town! We would've loved to have visited a few coffee shops! Cowtown was fun, but I hear ya about field trips. Growing up we'd go to NASA Space Center EVERY year. There was one year I stayed home for the field trip. I couldn't do it again 😂
Cow town is one of my favorite places to go. But I like museums
Amazing what you can find in little towns throughout this country. If you lived to be 500 years old I think there would be things you'd miss. Thanks for showing me some of the things I missed when going through Kansas years ago. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
It really! There is so much to see and do just in the lower 48. We’ll never see it all, but we’ll sure try!
I was born in Kansas and have lived here my whole life. There is so much fun stuff to do here (food being a huge one) and the people are what make it so special. They are even served together in schools! The thank you for coming! If you come back give Q39 bbq a try 🖤
Yes the people are definitely unique cause it is kinda boring in kansas. Gotta have an imagination coming from a Kansas native.

Kansas is amazing and that is coming from an Arizona native. I love it and I can't wait to move there soon.
Missouri Schools had chili with cinnamon rolls but I never seen anyone mix them together. The Cinnamon roll was the desert that day. Good thing it wasn’t apple pie lol if people mix the desert together with the chilli
We read that some people do mix it, but as we addressed in the video, there are different ways to do it.
BOWL AND A ROLL! I am so happy you tried it, we always get weird looks when we suggest it. We lived in KS for 12 years (in Lawrence; when you go back check it out!) and I had some of the BEST time there, yes it's flat but it's such an underrated state.

I was at Joe's BBQ a month and a half ago. Best BBQ I ever had! Nice video!
Good stuff!
We had a great time! There’s is tons to see and do there! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Y’ALL. KCMO is such a gem. And they definitely know how to make a BBQ. Loved watching you explore! Thank you for sharing the difficult history as well. Love you guys!!
Thank you for acknowledging that KC is MISSOURI. KCK is a wannabe clone, historical fact they named it after KCMO to trick folks into moving there.
Yeah, we mentioned there were different methods. We spent hours researching this topic and came to the conclusion that everyone does it differently.
That would definitely be nice to have the meals cooked from scratch. It's definitely not like that anymore! Thank you so much and thanks for watching!

That's kind of our motto in a way....there's something cool to do in every place!

I have lived in Kansas my entire life and nobody herre has ever dipped cinnamon rolls IN their chili, W.....T......F
And how do you make a Kansas video and not visit Dodge???
We read people eat their chili and cinnamon rolls different ways. In fact, there are a couple comments pretty close to yours that say otherwise about dipping 😊
And as we mentioned in the video, we had to cut a lot from our original plan.
