It was inspirational to read your story, Ginny. Keep at it and you'll get there. I had a smashed right wrist (along with other injuries) some 14 years ago and couldn't play for about 4 years. Had to change hands and relearn. Had a new wrist built about 5 years ago and it's opened up a new world for me. Since I've Been Lovin' You is THE song that made me take up the guitar some 45 years ago and it's only since I decided to relearn has my playing really improved. This is Page on display as master guitar composer and arranger. It's actually a rather simple song, but the depth of his guitar orchestration makes it such a rich tonal palette. As always though with Zep, the sum is greater than it's disparate parts. Plants lovelorn lyrics alongside the carefully crafted music had me crying my eyes out over lost teenage love a few decades ago. Emotion plus incredible creativity and musicality makes this one of my all time favorites. No other band has captured lightning in a bottle quite like Zeppelin did.
This is why Jimmy Page is so incredible. For example.. the intro... the nuances, the variations...each one builds and resolves....the light and shade. It's these little things that make such a massive difference and make his music living, breathing works of art. Again, you've done a great job recognising and pointing out these nuances as being important...because they are.

So cool Joel; I try my best to stay on top of all comments even on the older videos. The reason I make the lessons is because I want them to be evergreen. This song is a dream. ❤️
thanks man. I really appreciate the effort you have put into working out this song. I'm still learning and this has been a great help. It also has shown me how great this song is. Not just the complex guitar parts and rhythms but the lyric and narrative is very heartfelt.
It's really amazing 'getting to know' my lifelong favorite songs / guitarists by learning the songs on guitar. I'm 55 and only started playing during Covid but i play almost every day so i can confidently say that i don't suck anymore. On the way home from work I'll be thinking of which songs i want to work on, i love it! Learning an AC DC or Metallica or Van Halen song is SO different from learning a Led Zeppelin song. Even before i started playing i noticed how different LZ was. No two of their songs sound the same, no two albums sound the same, they never used juvenile rhyming lyrics...not even in the beginning, it's absolutely incredible what they did as far as creating music. And unfortunately, playing the guitar parts of a LZ song isn't as recognizable or fun as back in black for example, except for stairway. Maybe that's why it's so cliche to play that song? But i love LZ songs just as much! It feels wrong to listen to LZ songs unless they're in proper album order. Random idea i thought of - get Bon Scott's voice input into an AI computer and have him sing the Back in Black songs!!! Wouldn't that be wild!!
Agreed! At the risk of being absolutely blaspemous, and being excommunicated as a Zepophile, i think it is the best version! All 3 parts live, Jimmy absolutely goes real deep, s different solo for him, soft, nuanced and demonstrates his mastery of light and shade. Even if Chris did stuff it up, it's sensational!
By far the most in-depth and well explained lessons I have had the pleasure to come across. Love the channel and yes I subscribed. Well earned on your part sir very well earned!
Just recently been devoting time to learning this so I'm stoked to find this lesson. The tab I have didn't sound right. This makes so much more sense. Thanks!
My favorite combo of colors for a strat. I like the rosewood fretboard opposed to the maple personally but that is a sharp looking to ax. What model is it? I have a goal of getting an elite model with the Shawbucker in the bridge. Olympic white with the tortoise pick guard. Great lesson, thanks broseph
It's a 2013 Elite as well. I'm all about the Maple me. I always said I was gonna have a maple neck Fender, whether it be a Strat or a Tele. Obviously I've said similar things about 300 other guitars as well. 😂
@@SpedSpedding love it. I have a maple neck Tele and I love her. She’s seriously bulletproof. Was one of my main travel guitars for a long time. A red Nashville Tele so I got a little more
Plant really wanted this to become a key song on stage, to some extent replacing Stairway, but it never happened. Its a wonderful song, no histrionics just beautifully put together.
There is actually no way one guitar can do this justice live, that's why Jimmy didn't go that route. It takes all 3 guitars, go check Jimmy with the Black Crowes. My greatest wish would have been to see Eric and Jeff get up on stage with Zeppelin to do it, that would have been the Ultimate, even better than when they did Layla at Arms with Jimmy on slide.
Wow, thanks Sped. I have been using your video as I work on each section. I was feeling pretty good about it but checked out a few other RUclips lessons on the same song to contrast. It was very enlightening....meaning the other videos were not even close to yours for clarity, accuracy, and general ass-kickingness. Sped ftw!
Love it Scott, thanks so much. A few people commented on the fact I'd put the extra little harmonies in and some of the rhythm parts. I always like to try and stick something a bit different/extra in. Hope you're good?

So cool Joel; I try my best to stay on top of all comments even on the older videos. The reason I make the lessons is because I want them to be evergreen. This song is a dream. ❤️
thanks man. I really appreciate the effort you have put into working out this song. I'm still learning and this has been a great help. It also has shown me how great this song is. Not just the complex guitar parts and rhythms but the lyric and narrative is very heartfelt.
Yeah, I agree. It’s a total work of art.
I like your solo interpretation better than the official tab book! ✔️🎸
Excellent! I love in the second example you talked about the root note of the bass that was a bit different from what Jimmy was playing. Great stuff!
One of my favorite Zep songs. Love the Jimmy Page and Black Crowes version.
This guy has cracked the code. Excellent lesson.
Haha, thanks Johnny.
You my friend are an excellent teacher. This song is on my bucket list. Now i can scratch it off. Thanks and God bless.
By far the most in-depth and well explained lessons I have had the pleasure to come across. Love the channel and yes I subscribed. Well earned on your part sir very well earned!
Thanks so much Paul. Glad you liked it! 🙌🏻
Ay for real this video is very high quality and does everything right, I’m spoiled by how much time you spent on this video
Haha, thanks. You deserve ALL the spoils.
Just recently been devoting time to learning this so I'm stoked to find this lesson. The tab I have didn't sound right. This makes so much more sense. Thanks!
Online tabs are generally “alright” but if I’ve ever used one I consider it a dodgy foundation and redraft the whole thing. 😂
You’re a fine gentleman for this lesson sir
Sped you are my man when it comes to getting the led out!
Hi sped ... some AWESOME AWESOME content on your channel- great teacher , love the tutorials 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great lesson! Very detailed and good video/audio quality. Thank you from Texas!
Great job Sped. This is probably the best tutorial I have seen. I will watching your others.
Thanks so much, glad to have you here. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Very good lesson , you broke it down and explained it perfectly , this is my fav LZ song , so many things going on, it’s like a classical piece
Yeah it really is. Same with The Rain Song. 🤯
A red Nashville Tele so I got a little more
Brilliant mate! I could never figure out the ending pieces even with the TAB book I have. You do an amazing job at breaking these things down!!!
Glad I could help!
It's so nice to find a great guitar teacher on youtube! Really precise and no bullshit lesson! Already subscribed :)
Thank you! 💪🏻
Really top lesson its a pleasure to learn this wonderfull song that I’m rediscovering with your good Tips ! TY From France 😊
What a wonderful lesson. Especially the lead. Been wanting to play that since 77’ Just subscribed
bloody pure excellence, mate! Undeniably the best tutorial here.
Much appreciated. Glad you found it so useful; see you in the next one!
I'm wanting to cover this song with some friends and you just made it so much easier to figure out. Thank you.
The sound of that strat clean is awesome
Thanks. Owe half of that to the amp and twonotes cabs too! 🔥🥹
Your lessons are amazing and deliver where others fail. Specifically you show the strumming techniques. Consider doing more ZZ Top.
Strumming techniques for ZZ Top? There aren't any.
Great lesson.
Perfect pace, explanation and camera angles Thank you
Great lesson Sped, Thanks for posting. Your style sounds exactly like Jimmy Page's version on the record, just awesome!
Thank you so much for this, I wouldn't have been able to work it out for myself, but now it is my favourite noodle trying out different effects
You’re welcome Paul! I love hearing from people who I’ve helped out. Glad you liked the lesson. Have fun noodling! 🍜
This is brilliant!
I have a request. The Rolling Stones "Worried About You". Perhaps has one of the best solos in it and a fantastic rhythm riff.
Perhaps my favorite Zep song...beautiful...
My favorite by Zep. This guitar is so beautiful❤
Thank you man! Love this song since way back... I remember learning half the tune when i was just starting to play guitar in '80.
That’s so cool. My pleasure, thanks for watching.
I have been playing it on my B Bender Telecaster lately. Good Fun!!
Really great, you filled in a lot of blanks I had/was doing just a bit off. Excellent -
Thank you
Glad it helped! Loads more where this came from too. 😏🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding Yep all good here in Canada ! (except the whole pandemic thing...lol). I am almost ready to impress my friends with this song. Thanks again.
On the single note riff after the opening, you can also play the c twice instead of the open d. The e,c or d all sound good.
great lesson. can u do a lesson on zep's--fool in the rain" including the solo? thx.
That’s a cool suggestion, appreciate it. It’s on the cards. ✨
Yessss fool in the rain lesson
Best version of the tunes lesson out there. Awesome explanation. Thank you so very much
I watch many lessons by various youtubers but I always seem to come back to you, you have my vote and yes I've subscribed, I've tried to learn the outro lead on live version of whole lotta love but failed and can't find any lessons any chance you would oblige, cheeze.
