Yep, "Stairway" opening notes are an a-minor arpeggio, standard stuff Page used as did many others. No one "wrote" arpeggios, they just use them to build songs. The idea Page "stole" that is absurd. They both used the same musical technique that has existed for hundreds of years. Same thing applies to the descending chromatic bass line, too basic for Randy California to say he "owned" it. There's a reason the song Plant and Page built became a classic when "Taurus" did not. I suspect the Randy California estate made more money off the the alleged copyright infringement of "Taurus" than they ever could have made off the song by itself. Maybe Zep should sue them...

I find your comment about JPJ rings bells. In the sense that he was the "glue" that kept everything together. Exactly the same remark was made about John Enwhistle of The Who. When musically the rest seemed to be each going their merry way, the only one who actually kept the song together was Entwhiste. And when Pete was smashing his guitar, Roger was twirling the mike and endangering the front row while Moon was on the verge of destroying his kit and being taken away by some nice men in white coats, Entwhistle was the only one left standing to lend some semblance of sanity to the whole thing.
Zeppelin stole 'Since I've been loving you' from an incredible blues artist. They lacked originality across the board. That's why they'll never be The Stones.
Ten Years Gone. I was there when Physical Graffiti hit the shelves in vinyl. A lonely tune for sure. Intensely moody and melodious. Check out Night Flight too. Plant's vocals are amazing. Glad you younger folks are into Zep.
10 minutes before I watched this video I found myself humming the riff and thinking ''Which Zeppelin song was this again? It's amazing''. I looked it up, found it, listened to it and loved it. 10 minutes later I stumbled over your video by complete accident.
Yep, my favorite Led Zeppelin song, too, which is saying a lot because I love so many of their songs. The intro, those opening few chords...no matter how many times I hear them they can bring me to tears.
one of the greatest songs of all time not even counting that genre alone. anyone with an ear for beautiful composition and lyrics can’t help but appreciate the emotion and feeling this song gives off always gets me emotional.
The last time I looked at Rolling Stone magazine was when they harpooned Zep in 69. John what's his face. Page was unimaginative, lousy writer, producer, blah blah blah. Never wasted another cent on that fish wrap.Their catalogue of music is the top. JPJ like Entwistle, Squire, Bruce could fill in the spaces that other bands needed another musician. JPJ is always overlooked. It happens when you're so good that it looks effortless, no flash and trash just music. That can also be a blessing. Nobody ever thinks that the quiet one is the wild one. You can get away with so much more when nobody looks your way.
This song is one of the reasons why Physical Graffiti is my favourite Zeppelin album. Its definitely their most diverse record. 10 years gone is such a great combination of lyricism and musical arrangement
Robert, this was really awesome and I'm 56 years old and have seen a lot of videos on Ten Years Gone and this is one of the best I think you would really get off on doing the same kind of video on "out on the tiles". Although they only played that tune a couple times live I believe at the bath Festival it actually came out really good because plants vocals were still 95% at that point and the sound just is incredible even though it is only a bootleg floating around you can hear the insanity of how great it was and it is my favorite or one of my favorite tracks as a drummer because of those crazy triplets and monster fills that Bonham delivered...and Jonesy had a wicked bass hook and also improvised a lot in the outro I would love for you to break that one down and nerd out on it that is truly an overlooked but great track and their early repertoire. Now I know to all the hardcore Zep fans there is no overlooked track but remember a lot of younger guys who are getting turned on to Zeppelin probably have never heard that track so this comment is aimed towards bringing more younger guys into this appreciation and you old timers like me we are just all preaching to the choir and happy that young guys like Robert are carrying the torch for our beloved band and by the way Robert you've done this song Justice those are beautiful guitars and are deserving of your skills! Peace, Bob M.
"Overlooked Zeppelin masterpiece" How Many More Times? In My Time of Dying? Oh, Ten Years Gone. That one too. Lol Great video, Robert. Love da Zeppelin.
Jones is definitely underrated and overlooked as a musician. He comes from a family of working musicians and he can play bass, keyboard, guitar, mandolin and banjo. He was the most sought after session bass player in the mid-60s in London for the American blues and rock style.
This has always been my favorite Zeppelin song, and it’s a tragedy that most classic rock fans never heard of it. It is a masterpiece. Thanks for the analysis.

Saw that live! The whole show was incredible!
@@younkinjames8571 get out! That must have been amazing
@@michaelsevilla198 it really was. They played some good ones beside this...in my time of dying I remember was one...all the usual suspects as well
Ten Years Gone and Achilles Last Stand are my two favorite Zeppelin songs, ever.
This is such a great song. So much emotion in it. Forgot the name of it yesterday and was trying to remember and today you did a video of it. Thanks!
Tea For One is THE overlooked masterpiece.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
A reworking of Since I've Been Loving You
That's my fav Bluesy Zepp track. That album is highly overlooked
Your damn right it is.
I heard that on the radio around 1am once. I was blown away. Fantastic song.
Idk... Fool in the rain is probably still my fav.
10 Years Gone is Jimmy's BEST work... Very Hypnotic!!! My Fav for sure....The Rain Song is also Outstanding... Jimmy is The Greatest of All Time..
They hardly have a bad song they’re all great sounding this one was always one of my favorites ,like the rain song Full of melodies
Ten Years Gone, In the Light, Achilles Last Stand, The Wanton Song, etc.. So many great Zeppelin classics! Thanks for working on this one!
Yes I love this song it’s my favorite zeppelin song. Nobody ever talks about it and I think it’s so good
Arguably the best song off of the greatest album ever written.
Amen. . .
Got me through some dark times, that's for sure.
There's no such thing as off of, I think you mean 'from' the greatest album ever written.
This song immediately comes out almost every time I grab a guitar. So groovy.
I feel dumb... I've never heard this song... how the hell? Crazy cool work on guitar from Page. What a great song!!! 🤘🤘
No Quarter, tea for one, Achilles last stand and since I've been loving you all kick stairways ass too
Great Zep song ever?
"Since I've Been Loving You."
Most overlooked masterpiece?
"Braun'Yaur Stomp"
joshua43214 been listening to close to Zep for years and just recently realized he was singing about a dog, aka Merle
'song remains the same', is their best jam.
Every song is a masterpiece...I can't choose!
totally agree "Since I've Been Loving You" is the one, however the live recordings are waaaay tastier than the version on III .
Zeppelin stole 'Since I've been loving you' from an incredible blues artist. They lacked originality across the board. That's why they'll never be The Stones.
One of my favorite songs of ALL ALL TIME!!!
Just a joy. Takes me back to my youth and now more than ten years have gone.
100% agree. This song is incredible.
Ten Years Gone. I was there when Physical Graffiti hit the shelves in vinyl.
A lonely tune for sure. Intensely moody and melodious.
Check out Night Flight too. Plant's vocals are amazing.
Glad you younger folks are into Zep.
Thought it would be "No Quarter". That's my pick for no 1
Kacper Rogalski - but the live version from SRTS, studio not so much.
10 minutes before I watched this video I found myself humming the riff and thinking ''Which Zeppelin song was this again? It's amazing''. I looked it up, found it, listened to it and loved it.
10 minutes later I stumbled over your video by complete accident.
As my fave underrated masterpiece I would name In my time of dying. But this interesting video almost changed my mind.
Yep, my favorite Led Zeppelin song, too, which is saying a lot because I love so many of their songs. The intro, those opening few chords...no matter how many times I hear them they can bring me to tears.
Ten Years Gone and The Rain Song are the most underrated songs in the history of Rock.
one of the greatest songs of all time not even counting that genre alone. anyone with an ear for beautiful composition and lyrics can’t help but appreciate the emotion and feeling this song gives off always gets me emotional.
I was consoled by Jimmy after my drummers death in 2012 he is so kind !
wow....finally, someone who shares my same thought, love this song for many reasons, its amazing. Thank you.
The beginning of the song is a masterpiece
The rain song should be the sequel to this
I'm not a musician, but "Ten Years Gone" has been my favorite song on my favorite Zeppelin album for many, many moons now. Great video!!
"Overlooked Zeppelin masterpiece"
How Many More Times?
In My Time of Dying?
Oh, Ten Years Gone. That one too. Lol
Great video, Robert. Love da Zeppelin.
Jones is definitely underrated and overlooked as a musician. He comes from a family of working musicians and he can play bass, keyboard, guitar, mandolin and banjo. He was the most sought after session bass player in the mid-60s in London for the American blues and rock style.
Genuinely exactly the song I wanted this to be about.
Me too!!
This has always been my favorite Zeppelin song, and it’s a tragedy that most classic rock fans never heard of it. It is a masterpiece. Thanks for the analysis.
Oh god, its the never ending “which zep song is better” me and my friends all have whenever a zep song plays.... lemme save everyone some time
There all the best!
YESS!! "Ten years gone" is my all time favorite Led Zeppelin tune. Fun to play. Even better to listen to. Thanks for posting!
Make one of these on the live Since I've been loving you!
You mean the one at the Paris Theatre?
@@ThinWhiteAxe I mean the 1973 Madison Square Garden.
Had my guitar teacher show me this song when I was about 15 or 16 I still play it quite often and love listening to it
I also get goosebumps on the main riff
