Sir VIV played t20 in 70s and 80s already. He was such an most dangerous batter that time. And batting against those fast bowler with out helmet was next level. Till date no body can match his skills and batting style. Love you VIV.
Absolutely spot on! Wearing that red cap ....sporting a beard....chewing the gum and the style of walking to take the guard.....This man was fearless - One of the greatest players of all time!
Viv richards is still the best one day batsmen ever Back in the 70s and 80s the one day game was raw And today better wickets Shorter boundaries, bigger bats, powder puff bowlers 20 balls he would face to make a 100 today
Time and money can change anything anyones mind viv was so apposed of t20 was a critical now he promotes and milking it, he was all time favorite regardless
Viv played T20 in the seventies and eighties. Some of his cricketing shots were so ahead of his time that any modern day great would be proud , playing them today.
Still the best batsmen of my lifetime (I'm 59 years old). Others scored more, had higher averages, whatever, but nobody commanded the crease, or dismissed bowlers, the way Viv did!
14:51 Sir Vivian Richards is so down to earth. He admits Brian Lara was perhaps better than him. Now contrast this with some of the football legends like Pele and Maradona who had big fragile egos. They would self proclaim themselves to be the best ever and yet nobody cared.
I still remember the thrill of Sir Viv walking to the middle, rolling his shoulders with his tree trunk bat in his hand and looking around the ground as if thinking "This is my house now".
If thus guy played ipl and t20 he wold have completely broken the Game to such an exten that rules of the t20 would have been changed to just stop him .
Whenever I see Sir Viv it takes me back to the glorious days of cricket. Oh how I just loved to see him swing at the ball with such ease and precision. All the best Sir, you are my favourite cricketer of all times
Legend. Great man. Master blaster. When in mood -switch the course of the match in a single session. Perfect gentleman. Humility personified, despite being ahead of his times. Never wore a helmet , we can call him fearless. Looked Lillie and Thomson in the eye, very very competitive. For Americans who knew nothing about cricket - he is TIGER WOODS of Cricket !!
West Indies Cricket jumped the shark with the demise of the old Shell Shield format. I remember the Shell Shield Cricket teams were almost on par with the Test teams.
Relevant and real talk. Sir Viv always gives a honest and heartfelt interview on Cricket, why he and the other greats not running our game instead of the incompetent fakes at Cricket West Indies?
The one batsman who defies all statistical supremacy of others .... Mr:Viv Richards .. This man provoked genuine fast bowlers and other category bowlers with out ever wearing a helmet and yet far outweighed his contemporaries . Easily my 2nd best batsman after Don Bradman.
They simply do not make them like this any more. Sir Viv Richards was legendary in the 70s and 80s and sadly I watched him in his twilight years at the turn of the 80s when he was nearing retirement from International Cricket. He was explosive and had balls of steel. Fast bowlers didn't rattle him, he rattled you. A true definition of a Lion at the crease. Never seen leather whacked the fuck out of the ground so hard and ferociously with a piece of willow like he did it - he was epic. If Viv was playing in IPL, they'd need to change the rules because bowlers wouldn't stand a chance. He'd ruin young bowlers careers lol
Don't understand this - IPL thing.... Super Viv was the POSTER BOY of the "Original IPL" i.e World Series Cricket (triangular series held every season Down Under) -- why else were the Windies invited practically EVERY YEAR...?? The ONLY difference is there were no Dancing Girls (aka Cheerleaders) and other such sleazy glitz that's all, or perhaps lots MORE $$$ Surely Sir Viv has enough?!? 😬
I'll take Sir Everton Weekes, Alvin Kallicharran, Clive Lloyd, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, Rohan Khannai, Brian Lara, & Sir Vivian Richards
Perhaps the only batsmen that I can remember who didn't ever care for stats! His innings at Old Trafford in 1984 was truly a masterclass in batting! True legend!
Sir Vivian, the master baster, if he was playing in the IPL today it would be an opposing captain's nightmare with which bowler to change onece he start to hit that leather in the middle of that bat. His incomparable swagger would give bowlers sleepless nighs. Thanks Sir Viv for the memories you had no equals, only Lara comes close. Respect to Sanath Jayasoriah & Sachin Tendulkar.
There's only 1 King of Cricket and that's King Richards. He was the real Master and was in a league of his own those days. Fortunate to have seen him play so much on B/W TV sets and in India during Test cricket in a stadium.
I think Mr Holding summarised the two quite well, he thought Viv was the best batsmen against high quality pace, whereas Brian was the best against the medium fast and spin bowling.
Thank goodness you never played in this era and bazaaru cricket like IPL. I grew up in 90s and watched likes of Sachin, Waugh, Anwar, Jayasuriya, etc.. it was later thanx to RUclips I watched sir Viv Richards, Zaheer Abbas and realized how great this man is. He is the greatest cricket fans ever saw
I, too, wish he had played in the IPL, because if he had then Brian Lara would have played IPL too, and would have eclipsed Richards there too, as he did in every other form of cricket. Richards was a very good batsman of pace but weak aginst spin. Ask Narendra Hirwani, who, playing in his first test for India, took 16 wickets in a test against West indies - including RIchards. The following year India came to the West Indies and a young Brian Lara who had not yet played test cricket, captained a President's XI against India and scored 182, most of it off Hirwani. In any other test playing country, Brian would have been selected in the test team immediately. But Richards was WI captain and Brian was kept out of the test team for as long as he could, whilst mediocrities like Cacal Pooper, Keith TATAton and Gus Logie were kept in the team. I suspect that he knew better than anyone else just how much better a batsman than him Brian was and that if Brian was in the same test team as him, Brian would outperform him, so he was afraid to include him and used the captaincy to keep him out. And he was not the only one who feared and envied Brian. Richards was a good batsman but not a nice person. Small-mindedness, Ignorance and arrogance were his best attributes. He deserves the mimic-men plastic imitation "sir" that he wears without shame.
You don't have a clue what u are saying about Viv Richards can't play spin, most of Viv centuries came against indies in India against greater spinners than Hiwani who got 16 against WI in 1 game and finish with 20 wickets in the entire series. Learn abt the game be you write crap
Total nonsense. Ask Derek Underwood and the spinners of his day. How many did Lara get against India. Not many. Not saying he was not great. he was a truly great batsman but Richards was a Revolutionary. He founded the attacking batting that we see today.

In my view the greatest batsman of all time, I love sachin, gavaskar, kohli but man Viv was at different level.
Vivian was very strong,he had great power in his entire body, very nice fitness
Bro, he is the king. Have you seen his 6 packs in his heydays in 1970s 80s
What a legend 🙌
What is lord's doing on cricket district ???¿?????
What a humble yet lethal sportsman. Salute to Sir Viv
Viv richards is still the best one day batsmen ever
Back in the 70s and 80s the one day game was raw
And today better wickets
Shorter boundaries, bigger bats, powder puff bowlers
20 balls he would face to make a 100 today
What a classy guy!
Smaller bats, bigger boundaries, bowler friendly pitches, better bowlers and he was still destoying people
Enough said
If Viv had IPL during his time ,his price tag would be 5million usd .
His Game more suitable for shorter formats.
Time and money can change anything anyones mind viv was so apposed of t20 was a critical now he promotes and milking it, he was all time favorite regardless
My greatest batsman after Sunil Gavaskar
Sorry Viv you would not be half as good as this new generation of players.
Are you high or just clueless?
If Viv Richards could play IPL the average score of his team would be greater than 250 😂

What a man! My fav batsman of all time. Sorry ... Sachin, Lara, Ponting, Virat, ABD
I think with modern day bat he would have sent the ball to 200 meters 😃😃
The greatest batsman I ever saw. Had the privilege of meeting the west indies team back in the 80s at high school...such humble men
West Indies should produce fearsome fast bowlers, like in 80s
If thus guy played ipl and t20 he wold have completely broken the Game to such an exten that rules of the t20 would have been changed to just stop him .
The bowlers he face in his time without a helmet was amazing . Present day batmen wouldnt want to try that .

King of cricket, Viv Richards
The most iconic batsman of all time and the king of cool. Viv is the man.
U can c that Viv had and has so much passion and love for the game. It's a shame the current West Indies players aren't as passionate about the game
Totally agree as he said its more than hitting a ball and bowling fast.

The Undisputed King of Cricket
Great to see King Viv
My all time favourite. Fearless cricket er.the one and only king viv.
Sir Viv Richards is the most dangerous player of all time .,with a swagger still unmatched .
Never backed down from a challenge .
Viv Richards and Barry Richards as openers, what a treat that would have been.
Wish to meet u someday King Viv what a player no words to say
