Wow! This is so cool, Sharon!! I've seen some samples of this in your video flip-throughs, but I just thought the design was stamped on. Now I have "the rest of the story"!! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs! Jan
Thank you for this Sharon! I'm so glad it popped up in my feed as I was able to buy two pieces of silk velvet at the thrift store a few days ago and was wondering what I was going to do with them!
See, now I was wondering how applying your iron on the rubber stamp would not melt it. LOL. That is why we need Sharon to show us how to do things properly. I have to say, I was very excited to hear Rachel talk about your beautiful prayer journal.
Hi Sharon! I popped over from Roxy Creations’ channel and am really enjoying your videos 💜 I remember that Martha Stewart craft - I think it was a velvet scarf she made and I wanted to try that, but never did 🙃 I’d love to see a tutorial on how you beeswax papers, doilies, etc. Thanks!
The large stamp is called Wrought Iron Background from Stampabilities. The small one is by studio g, but there is no name on the block. These stamps are both quite old, so you may not be able to find these exact ones.
Beautiful. How permanent would this be? Say for instance you wanted to use it for the cover of a journal. Would the pattern eventually disappear with wear and tear? Also, could you do this with an embossing folder?
When you emboss velvet with heat it is pretty permanent. The fibers usually flattened down pretty good. With a lot of wear and tear, the fibers that are left standing up may eventually flatten some which would likely make the pattern appear less crisp or clear. I don't think simply running velvet or fabric through an embossing machine will hold up. But you have me thinking. Maybe with some starch spray or something like that it would stay permanent. I may have to give that a try! Thanks for watching! 💙❤️💙
Beautiful 💜. I found this looking for the exact type of tutorial. I’m wondering if you did this on a top or something, if it would still be there after washing? Does anyone know? Nice video 🙂
Thanks so much. I have not tried this technique on clothing, so I don’t know how it would hold up to washing. You could try a test swatch and throw that in the washing machine.
Thank you! I'm guessing it's probably rayon. I try to purchase mostly vintage velvet that is rayon, cotton or silk. They seem to work best as opposed to polyester or nylon.
I don’t think you’d get very good results with only steam. It’s the pressure from the iron that makes the imprint. You could try it. Then you’ll know one way or another! 👍
I haven't tried any other fabric. It would have to be something with a nap, in other words, something with fibers that stand up so you can iron them flat with your stamp.
Thanks for this. I loved that you found that a water spritz might not be needed! Love the interesting stamps you used
Thank you so much Robyn! I'm glad you found it useful!🌹🌹
MashaALLAH so beautiful and simple as well

Thanks for coming on over Susan! Guess what, I'm prepping my next tutorial and it will be on beeswaxing paper doilies! (Is beeswaxing a verb??) 😊
Where do you get the royal/floral stamps? I cannot find these at all.
The large stamp is called Wrought Iron Background from Stampabilities. The small one is by studio g, but there is no name on the block. These stamps are both quite old, so you may not be able to find these exact ones.
Great idea! TFS
Thank you Lynn!

Wow this looks so awesome ! XXX
Thanks Lorna! It’s always super fun to try this. 😊

This is awesome! What kind of velvet was the bookmark made from? I love how much it pops with that kind🙏🏽

@@SharonHoerth yes nothing beats vintage velvet! Thank you so much
Hey this is what I was looking for ! Do you know where can I buy a velvet piece like the red one online ?
I live I France an I can't find it ..
I know there is a lot of velvet sold on Etsy. I would try there first. The one I used for demonstration was vintage and I found it locally. Good luck!
Is this ink on your stamp? Can you put embossing powder on top and use a heat gun?
Hi Brittney. No ink is involved. The pattern is just from the heat of the iron and the impression that it leaves on the fabric through the stamp.
Wow, mdm ! Is it regular rubber stamp?
Yes, a regular rubber stamp with wood block. It's so much fun to see the results!
If I wanted gold embossing, would I use embossing powder too?
Hi Rachel. I've never used embossing powder, but I always say, "Try it and see what happens!" 🌷
Hi can you do this with a steamer iron rather than a traditional one?
I don’t think you’d get very good results with only steam. It’s the pressure from the iron that makes the imprint. You could try it. Then you’ll know one way or another! 👍
Mdm. Can it be done on any other fabric too?
I haven't tried any other fabric. It would have to be something with a nap, in other words, something with fibers that stand up so you can iron them flat with your stamp.
I used lino cliche and that was work
Thank you!
how long do you leave it on for
I would say about 8-10 seconds in each spot. ❤️
