Having a desktop OS in a TABLET is a bad idea. Unless you have a keyboard and you enable some type of PC mode. Windows 8 had the opposite problem, too tablet-like for non-tablets.😊
Something that reviewers/ RUclipsrs should add to their videos when it comes to reviews is how to leave feedback to these companies so that people who actually buy them can directly give feedback to the companies when they are dissatisfied. Windows has a feedback app for example, Samsung has their Samsung members app for feedback and so on
I'm very interested in this surface pro and primarily use DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Lightroom for work. I'd be curious how both those applications run and if going up to the X Elite model with the OLED screen is even worth it.
I love the form factor. But I'm worried whether it will run my software.... I need to run, e.g., Lightroom *Classic*, Inkscape (vector drawings), LyX ("wysiwyg" LaTeX based word processor), VSCode with various language support, as well as some non-standard programming languages. If it were simple to remotely log into my AMD based home computer, I could run use it as a "terminal" for my home computer until "my" software becomes available... Maybe I'll be better served by "strix point" laptops...
How would you rate it's value? And how does it compare to other apple or windows alternatives for a student taking notes and doing non-intensive workloads? Thanks Matthew!
is this a surface laptop. just has a snapdragon x processor. and you’d choose this one because it has a ARM processor not the x32 or x64 bit architecture that’s been used for decades atp. ARM architecture is more power efficient and it’s what mac’s use in their custom processor.
The whole point of a surface is that it's also a tablet, how does it function as just a tablet without a keyboard? (Use speech to text instead of a digital keyboard)
Can you at least try installing Linux on a side partition of it, we maybe only 4% of the desktop users but I love these things and would love to use them with Linux
Please test how it feels using it on your lap. I know that these kind of tablet 2 in 1's are not the best for that but it is important for me as a soon to be uni student

Magic keyboard is useless for most. That hinge is restricted with only one viewing angle. This is more useful with multiple viewing angle. If you are someone who types a lot. Then you should consider laptop not any of these tablet.
you have any idea how much cooling the RTX 4090 needs? even if you tried putting one in something as thin as the Surface Pro, it's not gonna get even close to the performance of the desktop 4090...
What they can put in is a 4070 if they make it thicker they could put a 4080 but they're not going to make it thicker so at most the most you could ask for is a 4070

Flex Keyboard works fine attached or detached but sometimes when waking up from sleep the mouse isnt detected then you have to detach and reattach to wake up.
Noone seems to talk about how it performs as a day to day computer. Web browsing, Office work, Media consumption, battery life? We know it's never intended as a gaming machine and noone should care much about this AI hype as of now and reviews should not be wasted on it.

they only run the trial version of DaVinci resolve but i’ve heard ppl are having trouble setting it up, unsure about lightroom though

I don't think it function well as a tablet, it's more of a touchscreen capable laptop that is also tablet form factor.
The question is pair with all it accessories would you use this as your daily driver compared to the Apple iPad Pro and all it’s accessories as well ?
No but ig the windows on this is more useful and can be used as a daily driver than a ipad os ipad which is limited due to the software
