    There's a third power generator (Electromagnetic Generator) that you use similar to Mineral/Gas extractors (as in use scanner to find electromagnetic source, and place it nearby). That part didn't make it into the video as it was already too long :)

      @@anashussain8495 There's a new tech for your MT which is like the Analysis Visor. So if, like me, you want it and your MT is full, you will need to delete something. I plan to delete the Scatter Blaster and its one upgrade module. I then plan to rearrange my MT. Thank Sean, I can now move tech around instead of deleting and repurchasing.

      @@anashussain8495 All hotspot searches are the same. The type of hotspot depends on the biome. Same goes for types of food/ingredients.

    For each industrial unit (mineral or gas extractor), place down two solar panels and one battery. It will run 24 hours without fail.

      How much do these thing mine? I want to mine pure ferrite or something to get a crap ton of ferrite dust to build with. I figured id then go to magnatized ferrite to ferrite dust using a refiner

      @@BudRV depends on the deposit. My current radon farm is at 13,000/hr, but that's with about 80 million units of engineering and building. Some 200 solar panel, 20 depots, and 40-50 gas extractors. That generates about half a million units an hour, or 1.5m if I refine it further with some ferrite to create uranium.
      I like the update, but I find scanning for deposits and the lack of more powerful energy sources to be disappointing

      What I'm really asking is if I find a pure ferrite deposit can I get more from it from placing an extractor or from just using my multitool?

      Right now I’m using this as the general rule of thumb. I tested it on the mineral extractor. It consumes 50 energy units. One battery will hold enough charge for about 48 energy units being consumed during the night hours. When day broke I had a bit left over. But with only one solar panel it was just powering the mineral extractor and not charging the battery the next day. So I added the extra solar panel to keep a surplus charge to the battery and I never had to worry about the battery running down again. So for every 50 units of power your base consumes per hour, place 2 solar panels and one battery. They keep patching the game, but so far this works fine.

    The inverter can be used for much more than making things flash, if you connect a switch to the middle post, (power to switch then switch to middle post) with power going in red and out green, it changes the function of the switch, so it allows power while the switch is off and turns off power when the switch is on. For those electrically minded the inverter is a transistor of sorts.

      yep that's how it works, but do you have any ideas how to make a door work with 2 switches on both sides? i made it work with an inverter on one side, but doing the same on the other side would not open the door, because it is already powered on the other side, so it remains closed even if you hit the button. I'm thinking that both buttons must be connected to an auto-switch or something like that. Any ideas? lol

      I have not tried with manual switches yet but have it working with a proximity switch, place an inverter on the wall above a proximity switch, run a wire from your power point to the left(red) connection on the inverter, run a wire from the right(green) connection on the inverter to the door power point, run a wire from your power point(can be the same as you did for inverter) to the left power point of proximity switch, run a wire from the right point of the proximity switch to the lower power point of the inverter now the door should stay closed until you walk up to it

      Do doors work on pc? On ps they bug out and you can’t change their state after you get far enough away, even just another part of a small base is enough to break them...

    Not sure if it was mentioned , but you can put the solar panels anywhere. As long as it's daytime. You can put them inside. In a cave, underwater, Anywhere.

    I signed into Google just to say thanks for this, it's going to become very popular very soon. I got my stuff going on a base but it's a rat's nest because I only used solar panels and batteries and didn't know wtf I was doing. Gotta go grab the rest of the blueprints for the other components that didn't show up in my BP analyzer. I'm sure I'll be watching this a few times, lots of helpful info here.

    I subscribed to you just from this one video. I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to get a row of 5 storage containers powered in my existing base. What an illogical nightmare. I'd connect them to several solar panels using one wire and only 1 out of 5 would get power. Then my other row of 5 containers had 4 power up except that they WERE NOT CONNECTED to any wire or power source! Hello Games created a universe with spaceships and teleportation and we still have to use wires?? Why not just have wireless power?? This is just a pain for those of us with elaborate bases. Thanks for your excellent explanation of how power works.

      I really can't agree more. I have several very large bases that would need to be redesigned in order to power them properly. I would dismantle them but the game crashes when I approach them. I was able to take apart one small base and then went to a base station only to find out that I could not sell any materials from that base because I can't have anymore units. So I have to give it away for free or store it. I have 300 or more stasis devices for example.... can't do anything with them. When Hello Games fixes that then I'll figure out this power issue but at this point... I'll move on to another game.

    Nope, source type you search for (gas, electromagnetic field or mineral) IS NOT 1 PER BIOME/PLANET. They are approx 400-500 far away from each other and you can find multiple very close to each other and use one to power another etc. Tool just shows you the closest/influence area you are in. Find one, choose a direction, move approx 300-400units and you will see the next one.

      @@worldoftankswarthunderrepl4056 i havent played for a long time but if i am not mistaken you can increase base range by building items closer to its range. e.g. you cannot place a cable to 501 units away from the base station but if you build a platform at 500 units, you can now replace a next one to 520 etc. this goes up to a thousand i think

    You can use the detector to send a signal to the inverter (to the middle connection), run a power source to the green side on inverter, then run a line from the red side of inverter to a door. You now have an automatically opening/closing door. Make sure theres a power line connecting to the opposite side of the detector (it needs to be powered as well).

      There are planets with many, many huge bases on them around the Galactic hub.
      The biggest issue is that performance takes a HUGE hit. Try visiting New Lennon on PS4 and you’ll be lucky to get 10fps and no crashes.

      mooganify Yep, because people made a point of settling them and congregating in certain regions. They used to have to make the trip one jump at a time, which would take days, but now there are other ways to get there a lot faster.

    Tip: Hotspots are vertical. You can put layers of mineral extractors. The more mineral extractors you have linked up together the less they make.
    I made 2 layers of 5x5 Mineral extractors that were all linked. That made about 4500 per hour on a B ranked hot spot. When I separated the 2 layers of extractors, essentially just removing the pipes that connect the bottom layer to the top layer, both of them made circa 3500 each. When you store the minerals make sure to have separate storage for each layer, or else they combine and the amount lessens

    THANK YOU! Was trying to figure this shit out for hours yesterday. I found an S-class power hotspot 6 minutes out from my big base...which needs MASSIVE amounts of power. Destiny 2 will have to wait when I get home from work, I need to get my farm operational again.

      Were you able to connect the S-Class hotspot even though it was 6 minutes away from your base? If so how did you do it?
      I found a hotspot (C-class) near my base. Probably 4 minutes away. I was unable create electro device as it was apparently too far away from my base.

      @@roshanamir5675 yes, I agree.. bad implimentation on an idea was this power. There should be no req base to place them, and power poles to connect them, again with no base req. I seriously do not understand what they were thinking or if they were thinking at all when they came up with this.

    Great stuff, but some corrections:
    Planets can have more than one surveyable resource.
    Resource “spots” can be large, around 250-500u in diameter so you have to walk far to get to the next resource
    You dont need to build in the hotspot itself. As you walk away from the hotspot observe the values in the survey tool if it drops, then that’s the max range of the hotspot

      Bills Mafia I couldn’t log in yesterday at all. It crashed before the loading screen started. But with the new update (patch fixes) I was able to play without crashing. I’m really happy 😆. There is supposed to be another update coming today that will fix even more bugs and random crashes.

      not saying NMS will, should or can but in general I think those sorts of things in combination with Sean's game (building, roleplaying, exploring, mining/farming & trading, missions, etc.) would obtain a lot of people's interests

    Hey, just in case you see this, how do you power things on board your freighter? I have absolutely no power options available when I'm on board, up through the antimatter reactor. All my hydro trays are glowing red, and none of my wall units or my appearance modifier work.

    Any advice running power over long distances? I have a base location at a specific spot I wanted and there is an S class electro field that is 500u away but doesnt look like I can feed power from that distance, or from base to base. The electrical cable reaches just doesn't power anything. To utilize the electro field spots its like I would have to build my base there which really limits imo.

      put down a battery at max distance and lay a new wire from the battery to yout base (use more batterys if needed)

    This was helpful, tho I must say they need to adjust some stuff numbers wise. 2,000 Carbon for 1 generator...... which lasts for 1 hour....... Also, my main farm/base requires 1609kps and the generators only offer 50kps each........... not exactly cool with that.

      Bmxer_DSM build 32 solar panels connected to a grid of 16 batteries. You will never run out of power day or night.

      From the sound of it the electromagnetic generator might be a cheaper way to solve your issue if you have the energy resource on your planet im currently hunting one down to power my next build

      I lost my original base im to far way and i cant set waypoint back to it since im on the other side of the galaxy so i have to restart my base which sucks cuz i had my farm producing glass making me millions per hour b4 this update lol but im sitting at 600 mil atm so guess i can afford to move and rebuild

    I’m so far not a fan of this new power source. I have a lot of bases and now I’ll have to go through each one and get them powered up. That’s also one thing I really liked about the game, going to all these different planets and setting up bases without too much hassle. But now I feel like it’s even more work and even more of a chore now.

    What if you ant to power things that are in a custom base and not a prefab? I’ve been finding that I can’t power up my lights or hydroponics because they are in a basic built structure and don’t seem to have anyplace to plug them in

      I noticed that on my freighter too! They are flashing red, but I can't build a power source in a freight as best as I can tell. But I had to stop due to coming to work this morning.

    So far I managed to play around and I now have a base that powers on only when I move close to it. Each sections of the base has proxy triggers including teleporter. This saves power and I only need few solar panel and batteries to operate my base. I am now in the middle of making something like backup generator which has independent backup power which kicks in when power runs out from main reserve from solar power using inverter. When power goes off, other kicks in and vice versa automatically.

    If we are to tinker this power feature further then they need to make more.
    Also not sure about this but building multiple batteries connected together isnt efficient. Lets say 1 battery stores like 5000KP and when u build 2 thats 10000KP in total. All ur power hungry techies require a total of 50KP and when u connect those to the 2 batteries, both batteries lose 50KP instead of sharing the total 50KP (25KP each). I divided my power techs to individual batteries so i can get the proper power consumption. If this is confirmed true i think it needs fixing.
    But for now i wish there are more freighter building parts (rooms and all, very wide customization but very limited building parts); frigate customization, even just technology module upgrades is a good start (id also like to have npc's visible. Best if can also customize inside using build parts); ship customization, just like character customization but excluding exotic ones to maintain uniqueness.

      @@johnmckown1267 sorry i did not get what u mean.
      I was trying to keep the power on during night time so i was checking the power consumption at night and storage during the day and adding more batteries when needed.
      The way I connected them was, connect all batteries first, then at the last battery, connect all the power techs.
      Btw, health and shield station doednt work for me either even when theyre already powered up. It keeps saying power, and the shield says, 10 ferrite required.

    "I hope it was informative", hmmm, yes it was VERY informative. I wondered how to use the power inverter. All my attempts were unsuccessful. From this video and comments from below, I have a grasp of how to use it now. Everything else has been easy except for magnetic generator and that's probably because I have yet to find a source near my bases.
    Btw, bro, I too an playing "Creative Mode" it is awesome.

    I just started a base and made enough solar panels and batteries to make it through the night. I was lucky enough to find an S class power and indium within 800 units of each other. So I made a little shack in the middle. Next is the short range teleporters

    I hope they add more renewable energy sources such as hydroelectricity (obviously it won’t work if your planet does not have water) and geothermal which should have a hotspot in the survey device as well so you could find where you could put it and wind effects so there could be wind turbines.

      As far as I see, yes. I tried to look for a first-person mode in the exocraft, but it wasn't there. Actually I've read it on their site, that it only works for VR. Maybe, they'll include it in a later update.

    I have a question about powering stuff. I get how to connect the prefab stuff to a grid as there are visible connectors, but what about the non-prefab stuff (the freeform build materials)? How do you power stuff inside those structures?
